I didn't want to get it hemmed at David's due to cost and how long it would take because they go by wedding date of how fast they can get things back to you. So I took my business to this small shop and walked away a decently happy customer. It cost $77 to hem my long bridesmaid dress. I think it had a total of 2 layers to it. Sonny is a one man owner and I have been going to him for 20+ years. He's so swamped because he's by himself and he's so good at what he does! I understand that about him plus he's the only guy in the area I trust but knowing he's by himself I allow time to get my alterations back unless it's some sort of emergency and he always and I mean always takes care of me but I do think he's a yes man. He has a hard time saying no to clients which means he can get backlogged but Sonny is kind and hard working and an amazing seamstress! He's a small business and credit cards ding you so we know going in he takes checks and cash. Easy peasy unless you don't know how he rolls! It's hard to find good customer service anymore bar none and we've all experienced how the world has changed but I'm here to tell you that you won't find such a lovely, more hardworking, great seamstress of a man than Sonny! Yes mistakes happen and we are all privy to making them ourselves fact so just remember there are not many small businesses around anymore and they work their buts off to make a buck and survive in this chaotic, expensive world so I would say just make sure Sonny understands your needs before you leave and he will do his best take care of you! Went there, and arrived at 0935, and found the lights on, but the business locked, and no sign indicating when he might return. After knocking several times, I left after ten minutes, and having placed two phone calls requesting a call back (which were NOT returned). The guy was nice enough, but he ruined $350 worth of shirts. Took them in so far they don't fit over my forearms and barely button over my chest. I'm an athletic build, but not a gorilla and the shirts are unwearable now. Didnt even offer a refund on the alterations, so I effectively paid him to ruin the shirts. So, in total, a $400ish lesson: try elsewhere. read more

I had an appointment at 10a today for a bridesmaid dress alteration, and when I got there the store was closed (yelp says they open at 9a, but they actually open at 10a). I waited until 10:15 thinking that maybe the owner was just running late, but they never showed up. I'm obviously unhappy about this and will likely not be coming back. I went there to have some dresses altered. He has no attention to detail and just slap dashes things together. He only takes cash and does not give receipts which I think is suspicious. I brought 2 items home and they were both wrong. He did allow me to come back and make them ok but not perfect. I left one dress to put lace details. It seemed more complicated and he said he needed more time to think of a solution. I left the lace and dress there for 3 week and went to pick it up as agreed upon. He hadn't touched it and asked for 1 more week. I came back in 1 more week now under pressure to have done for the Opera I was attending that weekend. He hadn't touched it and hadn't thought about how to fix it. He said i'm sorry and i'll finish it right now. He rushed it thru the sewing machine and sewed it bunched up and crooked. He said i'm sorry it's not perfect so i'll only charge you $10. I'm upset because I had to take it home and undo what he did and spend time fixing it. So I wasted hours of stress and gas driving back and forth and paid him money to have to undo what he did and fix the issue myself. I had to hand sewed it myself last min. I brought it to him for the convince but it turned out being really costly and inconvenient! Please save yourself time and money and stress and go somewhere else! read more

I know I can always count on Sony in my time of need. I bought a bridesmaid dress online from Azazie and even though I checked the measurements and everything, the dress was too small and wouldn't zip up all the way. (I guess I'm not a size 6 in Azazie dresses :/ ) Unfortunately, I did not receive my dress until a month before the wedding (it takes about 3-4 weeks for Azazie to make the dress) and I couldn't order a new dress in time for the wedding. I took the dress to Sony to see what he could do. At first he didn't seem too optimistic and he wasn't sure he would be able to help me. He told me to come back in a week when his sister(?) would be there and that she'd be able to take care of me. At this point my anxiety was kicking in and I was seriously considering just starving myself until the wedding... but I came back a week later and his sister(?) assured me that she would be able to let out the sides of the bodice and that she'd have it ready in a week. I went back today to try the dress on and not only does it fit perfectly, but the bodice looks completely untouched and even the inside of the dress is flawless. Magic. I trust Sony (and his sister) with all my alteration needs. You should too. read more

Sonny is the man. I came in a new resident of the area and treated me like a usual. As I walked in, he dropped what he was doing to help serve me. I asked him for one pair of pants to be hemmed and the sleeves on my jacket to be shortened. There's one fitting/changing room for you to try on the pants and suit so he can tailor it personally for you. He is super patient and doesn't rush you or make you feel dumb. It gets better- Sonny just didn't kick me out after I placed my order, he talked to me and was genuinely curious about me. Good to know there are still personable and friendly store owners out there. Total price was $35, which was quite stellar especially with the quality of his work. Stitching was clean and steady on the pants and virtually seamless on the jacket. Best of all- he got it all done in less than 36 hours. He'll hold the doors open for you until 7:10pm if you're running late to pick up. What a guy. I'll be back soon for sure! read more

I've been going to these guys for YEARS!!! About 5 years ago my seamstress moved out of state and I went about a year looking for a replacement. Once I found these guys, I've never looked back. I've had a half dozen suits done, endless slacks/shirts, jeans w/ org. hem, even MOTORCYCLE GEAR done. (Yeah, he was less than thrilled about replacing the zipper on my riding jacket and heming my riding pants, but he did them!). I've also had holes in cashmere sweaters fixed- the whole nine. They are really flexable with time lines if you need it rushed (as long as you don't 'rush everytime' :P ) Now, the only two things I will say about them that is less than favorable- one was mentioned below. Yes, the staff is Vienamese. So if you don't have patience for the accent, you might get annoyed. The second, they DO NOT TAKE VISA. Cash only. Both of these, in my estimation, are small inconveniences that I deal with because of the stellar work they do. I won't go anywhere else for my alterations. read more

I've had 2 suits, 6 shirts and 4 pants done here. I love the way my clothes fit. You can't compare a tailored shirt to a off the rack shirt. Even the slim fit need altering, and I'm not a skinny dude. I even took back a suit he did for me after I lost a little weight and he fixed it for free. I've never been to another place so I can't really compare. This place came recommended from a friend. He's got a customer for life. I highly recommend him for any altering you need. 100% highly recommended. I had 2 alterations done. 1) A vintage T-shirt that was too large. I trimmed the shirt down, brought in the pieces and he sewed it all back together. The seams look just like the original seams and the sizing is perfect!!! 2) I had a pair of vintage Adidas track pants. They were straight leg. I had him taper the leg and add a cuff to the bottom. Owner was rude. He lost me garment bag even though I asked him where it was. I went home and looked for it and it was still at the shop. I had a toga hemmed and he told me he didn't have the bag. After I called him back he told me I would have to come over and look for it. It has all the accessories that go with the toga in it. Will not go back to him. There are better shops and he was very rude and condescending. I tried on the Toga and it is still dragging on the ground. When I called the owner back and told him I wanted my money back he hung up the phone on me. He told me he had a lot of bags and I was going to have to find mine. Awful Man!!! read more

A Stitch in Time Alterations - Would NOT recommend!!! This tailor was recommended by a friend and on my community website so I referred my friend to them. Unfortunately it turned out to be a DISASTROUS experience!! They "lost" my friend's mother of the bride dress 1 week before the wedding! To make matters worse, even though the owner offered to pay for the dress replacement, he argued with her about paying for any additional cost and inconvenience this caused her!!! My friend had to spend extra time, gas and stress finding a new dress along with finding an alteration place in Las Vegas that could do the expedited alteration. The actual additional cost was only an additional $50. You would think he would have gladly paid this additional expense after causing such stress to the mother of the bride 1 week before the wedding!!! I cannot speak to the quality of this man's alterations because he never did them. I brought a suit coat to him on a Monday, to get the sleeves shortened. He told me he would be finished the following Monday. Not the fastest turnaround time, but within reason. So I go to pick up my coat the following Monday. He hadn't even started on the alteration. And didn't even give me a courtesy call to tell me he was behind schedule.
