After few days I go back to pick up,I found out they were just using ordinary thread to sew my thick wool cardigan,and I found another hole in the cloth that was not there before. The only time people write a review is when they have to bad mouth about the establishment. Considering the work load I noticed, I'm sure a lot of customers were happy with the results. Rude employees, come on. What do you expect from women pre/post menopausal stage. Thanks to Yasmin, my alteration turned out flawless. Terrible customer service. They quote different prices for the same job, depending on who is working the till. I tried to get a patch sewn onto a jacket and they completely frayed the patch. One retailer quoted 7.50 a patch. Another wanted 15.00 for a smaller patch that was the same shape and material. read more

Came here w my Fiancé to get clothing hemmed for an event. Their hours of operation are shorter than mall hours which is only stated in their door. Due to Covid, we are required to wear masks, so we took turns since we only had one on hand. The lady helped my fiancé and when I came in with my items, she refused service. Mind you they were still open for another 10 minutes. I told her 1 item would be okay, since it's the piece I was planning to wear and was the priority... she took a few minutes to argue with me and call her manager to see if she could do ONE fitting. She turned me away when realistically there was still time to have gotten fitted, but instead she complained. This is the second time I've gone to this location and the staff were extremely rude & not helpful at all. Lesson learned, won't be back. read more

Very good store and employees! Would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking to fix or alter things in a timely manner but very professional! I have personally been to this location more than once as have a few of my friends! Let me tell you they are very friendly as well! An honest story, I work in the same mall, and was wearing jean shorts, the zipper had started to tear off (where the zipper is sewn on, not the actual zipper) so it looked as if my fly was constantly open! I couldn't keep working like that, so I quickly walked over and they were able to help me on the spot, thanks to their change rooms I could just pass them my shorts, it took them no time at all, and they charged me 3$ just for the stitch work and short time it took to finish! This place is terrible. They take shortcuts where they can and charge for shoddy workmanship. I've taken denim jeans to get the hem shortened and they cut the hem from the original manufacturer and sewed it on to the shortened leg. When I questioned her on this method, she said that it would break their sewing machine needles to hem it to the manufacturers original specs. I've taken dress pants to get hemmed and they stitched it so loosely that it came off with one pull. There were gaps in between the stitches that I could poke my finger through. Another time, the same hem came loose after one dry cleaning. They are not to be trusted and likely will go out of business soon. read more

Day 11/30: 30-day Oct yelp challenge (And another FTR! Apparently no one in Richmond is getting alterations done or I'm just clueless as to where I should be going!) 3.5 stars This is the other option for alterations in Richmond Centre Mall. (I've already reviewed Instant Tailoring). Stitch It staff are typically friendlier of the two options in the mall and the changing area is more comfortable. Nice and clean. They have a couple of bigger changerooms with doors and a chair, and you step out to a larger mirror when you're ready for assistance. No additional charge for rush work. I've only had them do simple alterations like hemming and seam repairs. Ballpark prices are typically $20 for an unlined skirt and goes up if there's a lining, $20-$30 to take a waist in, etc... The finishing is pretty consistent and even. They can't do the double hems (i.e. Lululemon style flat seaming). There's a small rewards program where you get $5 coupons for future use once you hit $100 of alterations in your account history. I haven't found a perfect tailor yet but this is a convenient option for me but I find their prices a touch high. read more

The seamstress there did not even look at the dress and right away told me that they can't do it. I then brought it to another place and they were able to do it for me within a few days. another one of my bridesmaid also brought her dress to let out. at first they told her that they can do it, then they called her and told her that it was not possible. when she picked up her dress they even ripped the straps off of the dress. when she asked they said it came in like that (which it did not). they told her that they can do it but because it's the holidays it will cost more- as if they don't charge a lot already. they are lazy and just want her to pay more! terrible terrible service. I would never go back there again to get any alterations done!! and I would never recommend anyone to go there. read more

Dropped off a $200 blazer for a simple task of shortening the sleeves (asked to be sewn from inside). Went to pick up my blazer a week after as instructed, only to find that nothing was done. The safety pin was still on the blazer, no alterations made. The employees fumbled around asked us to come back in 30 min. Came back a second time to find that they did a rush job sewing the sleeves from the OUTSIDE. What blazer has visible stitches on the sleeve, on top of that, it wasn't even straight. When tried to reason with them, they tried to say that it was done under our instructions. Promptly asked for a refund. Don't take your valuable piece of clothing here. Brought a pair of pants in to have brought in on a Tuesday. I needed them for Saturday and they said it wouldn't be a problem to have them ready by friday. I came in on friday to pick them up and the woman helping me said they weren't ready yet. She was very apologetic and assured me they would be done for Saturday morning. When I came in on Saturday to pick them up, the woman helping me spoke very little English and seemed really confused at the fact that I was picking up clothing. She eventually figured it out and brought them to me. I paid and left. When I got home and put them on, I realized that they had never been altered. They were still the same size and there was no new stitching on them at all. I had to figure out something else to wear and was out the money on the alteration that was never done. This was very unprofessional. If they had not done the work, I would have just taken the pants back and not paid them. It would have helped to have someone working at the front who spoke english so this could have happened instead of me being charged for nothing. read more

AVOID! Overpriced, rude, and sloppy work. I brought in a dress for a simple hemming job. They charged me $25 and were very curt with me both upon drop off and pickup. No greeting or thank you from any staff member. When I got home and tried on the dress I found the hem job they did to be terrible and not even at all. My dress is now ruined. I've had nothing but great service from this location. I've had numerous pairs of pants hemmed and tapered (I'm a shorty), and a number of dresses and skirts altered, and all of trhe work has been very well done. A number of times I have thought, "Oh, I should go and find a local mom and pop shop to do these alterations." And I do. Inevitably, the location is kind of dirty without proper changing facilities (at Stitch It they have retail-style change rooms, plus three-way mirrors so you can see what they're doing while they pin), have inconvenient opening and closing times (because I work alllll the time), and I'm just never quite as happy with the work. So yeah, Stitch It is my place. Don't expect amazing customer service, but expect well done work, that's done when you need it, for a reasonable price. read more

I took a lot of time picking out a denim jacket and decided it would be nice to have the sleeves shortened to ensure a perfect fit. When I arrived to pick up the jacket, I noticed that the inside of the left cuff had been stitched with blue thread and the right with yellow thread. As I sometimes wear the cuffs turned up, this was problematic for me. The stitching was also super sloppy. I returned promptly to have this corrected. Upon pick up the second time, I noticed that a different shade of yellow stitching had been used on the outside of the left cuff than on the right. Back I went again. This time both cuffs needed to be redone in a rush to ensure the stitching matched. Needless to say, the job was far from perfect in the end, considering all the rushing and panic involved in attempting to get this right. Beyond ridiculous. read more

I had a bridesmaid dress maid of this fine tulle and I decided to drop it off at Stitch It Richmond Center to alter it rather than going downtown to get it done out of convenience. Big mistake! When I went to pick up my dress, I discovered that someone had stapled my dress to the garment bag on both front and back! Very poor customer service. Went there once to have a zipper put in for a dress. Come back, $70 later... No zipper. They just took in the sides. It was impossible to put the dress on afterward and it was a custom gown. Second time: I came in to get the sides of two pieces taken in a little bit. The price was a surprising $52. It was over budget for me, I politely declined at which point the little Asian cashier flung my garments at me and said something along the lines of "go look somewhere else". I was surprised as I have never experienced this lack of professionalism in my 15+ years living in Canada. Will never return to this establishment. read more
