We took our daughter in law's wedding dress into Busy Bee to be cleaned and they did a magnificent job. It was quite heavily soiled and they needed to take their time in the meticulous cleaning process. All along the way they kept us updated with the progress. When it finally met their high standards of cleanliness we were invited to pick the dress up. It came in a carefully packaged box covered in a muslin sleeve with their names monogrammed on it. A very frustrating experience when they quoted about $25, over the phone for a small tapestry rug. When I brought it in, it was $62. I also asked for an estimate when I dropped it off, but wasn't given one, just the receipt. Didn't look at it until I was almost home and it was over double the price. I went back later to ask them about it, and asked for the manager. The two staff there said he left for the day, and couldn't be contacted. I called Fletchers, and they quoted only $45, so I took the rugs back. read more

I took a wool quilt in to be dry cleaned. I was told I would be too expensive ($33) to dry clean and that it was OK to wash. On their recommendation I agreed. When I picked up the quilt it was all wrapped up in plastic, so I didn't see until I was home that the wool filling was completely shunken and lumpy with the Cotton covering wrinkled and loose. Before I start this review, I need to take a moment to let out a sigh of relief. *le sigh* Okay, I'm back! Here goes: My husband and I got married nearly three years ago, and my wedding dress has sat in our office closet ever since. We got married in Hawaii and so took a lot of photos out on the ocean on top of a bed of black lava rock. It was never my intention to "trash the dress," but it was certainly worse for wear once all was said and done. Since then I'd always meant to have it dry cleaned and put into a nice box, but it was one of those chores I just kept forgetting about and putting off because I thought there was no rush. I recently heard about Busy Bee Gold and how well they preserve wedding dresses, so I pulled it out of the closet to bring it in to the shop. I was pretty horrified! Three years of neglect had turned my dress a faded yellow colour, the black lava rock stains were still there, and I was pretty sure there has been a Mai Tai spilled down the front it. Moments after I entered the store, I was greeted by Mohamud, the soft-spoken and kindly owner of Busy Bee Gold. I told him I was slightly embarrassed over the nearly three years of neglect I'd inflicted on my gown, and that I'd all but lost hope that the dress could ever be revived to its original glory. He was confident that he could work a little magic. Mohamud explained that my wedding dress would be cleaned by hand (yes - really!) and then washed with a custom-blended solution, tailored for my gown. Then it would be stuffed to maintain its shape, laid out beautifully in a box, and wrapped in soft muslin fabric. He said their process is eco-friendly and that each detail of my dress would be carefully protected. I was pretty confident that my wedding gown was in good hands! After nearly six weeks, I finally picked up the gown on Monday. When Mohamud carefully opened the box to unveil my gown, I was speechless! Each lava stain (and the Mai Tai spill) were gone. The yellow tinge was also gone. Inside the box was a perfectly-presented, white, pristine gown, more beautiful than I'd remembered. No way, should Busy Bee be categorized under "cheap" alterations!!! I brought in a pair of jeans, to be altered at the crotch by 1/4" and hemmed half an inch. They wanted to charge me separately and said $35 for the crotch alteration and $28 for the hemming!! That was sticker shock to me and would not consider that cheap by any stretch. I won't know the quality of work, because even if it were quality, I think I can find just as good for basic work at a more reasonable cost, so I kindly declined. read more

I dropped off drapes to be dry cleaned, and they came back with their sheen destroyed and fully 2-3 inches shorter. The owner offered to rehem them for me. So they let down the generous bottom hem (which HAD made them look like high class quality drapes) to get them back to the original length. They don't hang right, the sheen and stiffness is gone, and now they look like cheap ass rags. I think they threw them in the washing machine. I could have done that at home. My original "dry cleaning" fee was not even refunded. F-ing unprofessional. read more

I have been coming to this Dry Cleaner for 8-10 years. They recently changed staff and the new person I dealt with today, Freda, was extremely rude. The cleaning is fantastic but the price is insane! I was charged $640 to clean my wedding dress. It is lace, but that's half of what I paid for it! I wish they showed me the box before - the preservation box is obnoxiously large. Will be difficult to find a spot to store it. That said, the dress looks fantastic...they cleaned it right up. Busy Bee is overpriced and took way longer than promised on my wedding dress. They had stated it would be ready in March, but I did not receive it until late June. They have poor communication and never contacted me to notify me of delay. They never even contacted me when it was ready. I had to call several times before I was told it was ready. Worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time. Staff are unfriendly and don't seem to care about their customers. I sent the owner an email after the awful service I had and the amount of money I had to pay for a hem job and small tapper to the pants a brought in. He replied right away saying he wanted to make this "right" and would look into it and get back to me....that was over a month an a half ago... My advice, if your getting something altered, make sure you are specific in what your asking for AND get them to confirm the amount before you leave the place. Very expensive alterations. I brought a coat and a vest in to have minor adjustment.. one to taper the arm pit /arm hole (3inches) And another to take up the sleeve. For both alterations it was going to cost $250!!! Insane. I ended up taking them up the street for $100 for both. I try to sup port our local shops but this is ridiculous. read more

I've gone here a number of times in the past and never been disappointed. It's convenient that they are 1/4 of a block away from my house. It is extremely hard to find a good dry cleaner and tailor. I've been to a few tailors and before going to busy bee, I was always let down by other places except for this one other place, however, that other place was pretty pricey and not as convenient location wise. I went yesterday because I had dress pants for a suit that need letting out at the waist. Me being me I waited until the day of the wedding to try them on and they were a good inch too small. I went in at 10 am and they said they would be able to have them back to me by 4 pm. Perfect. I told them all I needed was to have it let out an inch. It was only five dollars more for the rush fee which was way lower than I expected. When I got the pants back I inspected it and it was done so well that I would have never guessed they even ripped the seams on the waist band and altered it. I tried them on and they were perfect. Exactly what I needed. I know it's probably a routine alteration for all tailors/seamstresses, but the price I paid, and the quality work that was done in the time I required it makes this review 5 stars. read more

I LUV THIS PLACE! Every-time I need to get me duds laundered or dry-cleaned I always head to this location. I knew this was going to be the place for me when the first time I went, he was unpacking my laundry bag and he stopped at my Boss black label studded punk shirt and said "I must take special care of this piece it's LIKE a work of art." I just about hugged the guy b/c those of you out their that know me would understand why I appreciate this kind of detail when we are talking about my clothing. This location does it all, they have one hour, overnight, three day, they do wedding gowns, duvets, and even blankets. The guy behind the counter is always super friendly and is always in such a good mood and willing to help. I didn't have a clue what to do with a Tibetan painting that was framed in deteriorating silk fabric. I saw on the Internet that Busy Bee had a good reputation, so I went there for the first time. This place is out of the way for me, so I only take my "oh crap I really messed this up" items here. The first thing I took was a pale silky blouse that I had washed at home. Except while it was drying, it touched my bright purple cardigan and ended up with a massive dye stain down the arm. Horrified, I turned to Yelp (as usual) and found this place. They warned me it may not come out completely but that they'd try their best. It was COMPLETELY gone when I picked it up. I have no idea how they managed to get the purple dye out of it. The second thing I took was a silk top that I had gotten big oil stains on (I wear a natural deodorant that has a lot of peppermint oil). Of course, I tried to fix it myself by using corn starch as I'd read online-yeah.....that wasn't a good idea. Corn starch all over the top, myself, AND the stains (it somehow clung to the oil akin to Ross getting corn starch stuck all over his legs in the leather pants incident). I was so embarrassed to take it in and explain what I had tried to do. Again, it was perfect when I picked it up. I would probably continue to use a cheaper drycleaner when things just need to be freshened up, but I always take my expensive or stained items here, because I trust it to always come out great. read more

I sent in a quote via yelp for a jacket that cost me $50 and was wondering how much it would cost for dry cleaning. Mohammed, the owner replied promptly (like 10 minutes or less) and inquired how big the stain was and whether I had treated the stain. He also ended up calling me to give an estimate (the cost of cleaning of my jacket would almost be half the price of my jacket, which I originally suspected) and was kind to offer me suggestions on how to remove the stain myself! I have never had a business owner give me such good instructions and for free! He did not have to go out of his way to help me, but he did. I can understand why his ratings are so high based on customer service, which I value. I am aware the pricing may be a bit pricier than other places, but I appreciate his excellent customer service. He told me about his experience cooking with (that horrendously staining) turmeric when I took a blouse to him which was the victim of a curry accident in my kitchen. Coming from generations of dry cleaners, I consider myself a bit of an expert; aficionado, if one could be a dry cleaning aficionado. Anyway, this city is seriously lacking dry cleaners like this. Highly professional, extremely knowledgeable about garments and processes, courteous and will bend over backwards to make the customer happy. No distinct odor from clothes, well pressed and use bio-degradable poly. A pleasant surprise is that owner is highly knowledgable about tailoring and have done brilliant work with my clothes. Until I found this place, I resolved to accept that the days of old, where first class service from your dry cleaner was a presumption, because they took pride in their work, was gone. Knowing the level of quality and service I was getting, I was always fearful when taking my clothes in. Now that I've found Busy Bee Gold, those fears are gone. Brought in several suits for slimming down after having lost some weight. Appreciated the very professional process from start to finish. I liked being able to make an appointment online. The seamstress was knowledgeable and efficient, and the finished suits were available within the promised time frame. It wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for, and I felt the price charged was fair, and much less costly than replacing otherwise good clothes that just needed to be down-sized. Thanks to all these wonderful Yelp reviews, I've found my new favourite dry cleaner! They've worked miracles removing makeup stains from jacket and blazer collars, taken wine stains out of shirts, and they freshened up my beautiful Kenneth Cole autumn coat with its plethora of pleats (and removed makeup from that collar too, ahem). I now take all my seasonal dry clean only things, such as my winter coat, at the end of each season for regular cleaning and maintenance. The staff are very friendly and will be very honest about what they can and can't do with your garments. Basic tailoring is done at little to no charge. My items are finished on time and service consistently comes with a smile. read more
