Service is horrible! Asked for raw oysters and was told they did not have but did have grilled ones. I asked how can you have grilled ones that have to start as raw. The manager came and said they were losing money as their shucker was demolishing the oysters and people were turning them back and they were losing money. Insinuated the grilled ones were pre-made and possibly purchased elsewhere. Appetizers took an hour to get and were brought out with half of the main courses. Had to keep asking about the rest. They brought out my oyster Po-boy and ran away - no ketchup or hot sauce. Had to chase down someone to get it. There are sooooo many better places. I will never go back!!! read more

I must say it was a tiny bit frustrating. When I go somewhere alone I try to sit up at the bar if there is one, but for some reason I wanted a table tonight. I was seated right away, but it took time for a waitress to come to the table. She took my drink order and seemed to take forever to come back with my drink. I even thought of leaving because it took a bit. Anyway I stayed and ordered. My food did not take too long to come out and it was pretty good. It had a bit too much sauce for my liking so I only ate a little bit but it had a nice flavor. The waitress never came back to check on me. I asked for a box, and I figured she would bring the box and check. Not so. I kept waiting for her to bring the check and was about to get up and go to the bar when someone asked if I needed something. It had been many years since visiting Stingray's restaurant as the service had declined. Therefore, my husband and I decided to give it a try again. We arrived relatively early on a Friday evening during Mardi Gras, about 6:00 pm. Seated immediately we were shortly thereafter greeted by a smiling waitress that took our drink orders. Upon a quick delivery of our drinks she gave us time to peruse the menu. My husband ordered the Grilled shrimp dinner and I the Pecan crusted fish which happened to be catfish that night, which included a choice of two sides. Both dinners were very good and delivered in a timely manner. Overall I would say arriving a little early is a plus- as with most restaurants within Nola area. And the only downside I would say is there weren't more "grilled" food options. Will definitely return! read more

Went last Thursday for all you can eat crabs, first of all they was over cooked in crab boil and microwave before serving, long wait for next serving. Do not waste your money, it was very disappointing. I told the hostess that I had no idea the Alaskan snow crabs was cooked in crab boiled I would have never ordered them. Worst service ever, was seated immediately but prior to me seating I went to the restroom & had a deep conversation about LSU loosing to Aransas. Came back to the table where my associates had not been helped yet. Employees were conversing about nothing and our waitress or waiter were M.I.A., eye contact was made after 5 minutes of eye hunting for someone. Finally the greeter can see our fustration & asked someone else to grab our server. The food was really good. I had the Shrimp Feast which included fried, grilled, stuffed & boiled shrimp. Shrimp creole was also included. My least favorite thing on the plate was the stuffed shrimp. I used to go here before Katrina for their great lunch deal on their pork chop plate. Even then they were inconsistent but now they are more so. Last time I went I had a seafood pasta dish. The pasta was overcooked and the service was practically non-existent -the waitress brought the food and that was it. On one occasion, They refused to sit us outside because of it being slow and not wanting to send a server out there. Imagine being told on one of the few cool, sunny days we get in this area that you must sit indoors because it would be inconvenient for the staff to sit you outside. Not to mention the erratic behavior of the wait staff. They would be right at home in a theme restaurant in Orlando. This place needs to lower their prices or raise the level of service. On vacation with my family and we ate at Stingrays the first night. I am giving the restaurant 3 stars because The atmosphere was nice and clean, the waiter was friendly, but I felt like the food was over priced for a just ok tasting dinner. I had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and they we good but I could taste a hint of seafood and that was a bit of a turn off. (Maybe the oil needed changed) Myself and the children ordered angle hair pasta and meatballs and that tasted just ok. I felt like it was something that I could have made at home. The positive side of the dishes was that they were large and My plate alone would have feed myself and both my 4 and 2 year old. So if you have small children and they will eat pasta and meat balls I recommend splitting it. My husband ordered fried shrimp with onion rings and gumbo. He was pretty happy and is still talking about how yummy his fried shrimp was. Maybe I should have ordered the shrimp. read more

The only reason I gave it one star was because I can't give it zero. Frozen shrimp that the manager at first said wasn't frozen. I am completely repulsed by this place. I knew I should have left when I noticed the disgustingly dirty menu that was brought to the table. The app was frozen on the inside. There are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe how truly offensive the food and service were at this disaster that masquerades as a restaurant. Place is OK. Looks in need of a make over, front door looks ancient and the painted floor looks horrible. Too many employees, most hanging out near the kitchen or wiping down menus at a front table (4 or so hostesses, really??). Hostess station is a dinning table... It was a Friday night and it was maybe 30% full, prob more employees than customers. The food wasn't bad, nothing spectacular. Sweet potato fries were a bit bland. Catfish poboy was ok, could have gotten a much better one from Danny & Clyde's. I think the lemon wedges had been sitting out for a couple days... Decided to take my best friend here for a Saturday lunch because she's never had the pleasure of eating here, since we got rained out for Jazz Fest. To skip the "touristy" restaurants I chose Stingrays. My experiences here were always good. Now keep in mind that we rode through a storm to get here. The food was good, great flavor but our waitress was horrible. It took her 10 mins to greet us and another 10 mins to bring our beverages and about 20 mins to come back to take our order. This is on behalf of my mom and stepdad who are not on Yelp (I have not been here in years, so this is completely their opinion). They were sat at a table and went unacknowledged for 10 minutes. My mom told me that their table was in the middle of the dining room, so they should have been seen. She saw 5 servers, none of whom came to the table, so they left. They will not be going back and she has posted a complaint on their Facebook page as well. My wife and I may give them another chance down the road as we have had good experiences there in the past, but my mom will not. read more

WOW! It seems we had a TOTALLY different ding experience than the four people who didn't enjoy Stingray's! The food was amazing! Fried foods were cooked just right in obviously clean (fresh) oil... the red sauce served with their eggplant sticks was so good, I can't wait to try their parmesan! We had a new "watress in training" (Madison), who was very friendly and most attentive. I hope she is there to serve us when we return. The only fair criticism I have is the windows produce a strange, foggy affect... not pleasing to the senses. read more

I went here years ago. Never said I would go back again but this place has changed for the better. The owners are different the food is great. I love the seafood salad. It has crawfish shrimp and crabmeat in it. we went her for a small family gathering my cousin had the seafood wrap that is an apitizer he said that it had so much seafood in it and the cream sauce that was on the top was delicious. we all enjoyed our meal. I don't know why so many bad reviews. If you have not been here in a long I recommend you give it another try. I have passed Stingray's multiple times and by far did not expect what I received. We were seated in a timely manner and receive a smiling waitress. She checked on us frequently and took our order for appetizers. Upon receiving our appetizers, the waitress and possibly a manager stopped to check on us. We were disappointed because our appetizer the crabmeat stuffed poppers were cold. They were tasty as we were starving so we didn't sent them back. Our entrees made up for it because they were extremely hot. My friend ordered the zydeco fish and I ordered the seafood pasta. My pasta was over cooked and the sauce was very thick. The flavors were very delightful. My friend enjoyed the zydeco fish, potatoes but desired for the macaroni to be a little more cheese creamy. The managers worked the room stopping at every table chatting with patrons and made each feel important. I overheard him tell one it's what he felt customer service is about. Not only did they treat her to her lunch and a huge desert, but Carol Pardo (owner) and her employees had the entire restaurant singing happy birthday and clapping. We tried Stingrays tonight after staying away for several years. I was highly disappointed. The quality of the food was not very good. We paid 7.95 extra for a soft shell crab that I needed a magnifying glass to see. The stuffed crab was ALL bread. We could not find any crab. The french fries were so bad my 4 year olds spit them out. I tried the sweet potato hush puppies and they were so dense and chewy I could hardly swallow them. We will not be returning. It was too much money to spend to not enjoy it. We could have gotten more food that tasted better for less money at the Blue Crab. read more

WARNING: DON'T GO HERE IF YOU'RE ON A DIET! My boyfriend and I discovered this restaurant about two years ago and have always had a good experience here, except for the last time. This restaurant has NEVER failed to give large portions of literally ANYTHING you order! So you always get the best bang for your buck. We usually get the onion rings or the fried pickles as an appetizer. The onion rings are the best I've tried here! Although they are oily and highly unhealthy for you, something about it is just really good! The fried pickles are pretty good too. Some places make it too salty, but this was just right! As entrees, my boyfriend usually gets the Jambalaya pasta, which was always really good until the last time we ate here. It's supposed to be more spicy and jambalaya flavoer-based, but the last time was like eating pasta with marinara. I'm not sure if they decided to change the recipe, or if it was the end of the night so they wanted to be lazy, but I surely hope it won't be like that next time! The jambalaya pastas are one of the best things there, so maybe they were just having a bad day. I usually get the Cajun Seafood pasta, which is also usually very good, but the last time this was also very off. It was SOOOOO creamy and barely spicy. I could barely eat it, because it was so creamy. I was just disappointed. It seemed like they messed up everything that night except for the onion rings which were perfect! For dessert, we usually get the cheesecake eggrolls which are also good! It comes with bananas and caramel. Perfect way to end a meal. The service here is always good, and the waiters are always nice. They recently remodeled so it looks MUCH more modern and classier from before. I'm going to give Stingray's the benefit of the doubt and just say they were having a bad night. This was the first time we EVER had a bad experience, thus the 4-star rating. My son wanted to try oysters for the first time so I took him here as it is conveniently located next to the mall. The greeter was polite and sat us promptly but the table was sticky. I felt like I was having my arms waxed every time the touched the table top. This issue was quickly fixed. In hindsight we should have left at this point. We placed our orders and appetizer (oysters). After we were eating our oysters the manager came to inform me that they were out of lobster. It took over 45 mins to alert me to this no no mention my child's meal was ready. They acted upset when I asked for the check. I should have been the one upset as we ended up eating at McDonald's. By the way the oysters were not that great. No taste to them. We will not return. read more

Stingrays is a great place to sit and eat. The staff is very friendly and energetic! My wife enjoys the crawfish Taylor appetizer. In addition , the seafood plates are pretty good. I usually have the combination of shrimp and fish. It is seasoned pretty well for my tastes. The atmosphere is comfortable and eccentric. There are some days where it is hard to get into the Restaraunt. Then there are certain times of the day where it's perfect to go. I would absolutely recommend Stingrays to anyone just off of the customer service alone. Dave is an amazing manager! He really makes my wife and I feel welcome. A great soup is the lobster bisque.
