The panang was loaded with chicken but had nothing else in the sauce, which felt a little incomplete. I added two orders of rice, bringing my total to $45. Just of learned of Sticky Rice a few days ago and so happy I did. This is legit, traditional Thai food (unlike some other places in the area). Not fusion. Not mass produced. Not a funky menu. It's, literally, a little, Thai lady cooking food from her homeland. The summer rolls are Thai, not Vietnamese. No noodles. No carrot. No pork. Thai style! Thai basil, shrimp and cilantro. Very fresh. The sweet, vinegar sauce was on point. The Lab Gai was tasty and tangy and spicy. It was served with shredded cabbage instead of lettuce cups but it worked! Served room temp/cold; I prefer it warmer. It had excellent, but not overpowering, heat. The Green Curry was off the charts! Creamy, sweet, spicy and delicious! Great amount of chicken and eggplant. Plating was odd; like a cereal bowl but again it worked! Rice was extra. Nigel the server was welcoming and attentive. The chef came out to the table as well (always a good thing). I did notice another employee eating in the customer area (another review mentioned this as well) and it was a little ...uncomfortable....but hey! The atmosphere here is quiant and nicely decorated, albeit small with tables being close together. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The food was really good, with authentic Thai flavors. The issue: the portions. The resturant has attached the name tapas to thier title. This implies small plates, which is exactly what you get, despite ordering a full meal entree. My companion ordered the summer rolls. These were completely filled with lettuce (no noodles) and looked unappetizing. She did not enjoy. We both ordered the drunken noodles. She ordered extra veggies, and I ordered chicken. Mine had very little chicken, and the portion size was small. I also ordered the mussaman curry chicken. This was the smallest curry portion size I've ever received from the dozens of Thai restaurants I've been too. The portion of rice, was actually equal to the portion of curry. It was kind of insulting based on the prices of the entrees. Seems like they're cashing in on the tourism in the area. Which would be fine if the prices were reasonable, but $17 for an appetizer-sized drunken noodles isn't acceptable just because the restaurant wants to save on costs. Pretty spicy (2 peppers), fairly tasty, chicken a little overcooked/dry but overall, good. One I get back in Lancaster is a little less sharp in flavor, and I prefer that. Went on a road trip to Rehoboth, DE with my family and Sticky Rice was right by our hotel, so we dined in on our first night. We were greeted by a friendly couple who may have been the owners (they are not Thai btw). We ordered a green curry with rice, satay chicken skewers, spring rolls, pad siew and a papaya salad. The latter looked a bit odd and the spring roll platter was so tiny you can easily miss them, but everything else was delicious. The green curry was very spicy but so so good. I also ordered the Summer Roll which consisted of a huge packed bunch of plain lettuce with 3 small shrived 1.5" shrimps per roll and it was wrapped in the rice paper roll. (2 rolls per order). It was beyond dry and tasteless. The sauce that came with it was also terrible and I'll bet came out of a bottle of sweet spicy syrup. Can't believe I paid $8 for a tasteless wad of packed lettuce that they call a summer roll. Both went straight into the garbage. Sticky Rice is a lovely, cozy restaurant! I love the decor and vibe in here, it's so tastefully and colorfully done with beautiful pictures, knick-knacks, fabrics, souvenirs, books, etc from Thailand. I've eaten here twice now--once for takeout and once as a dine-in. It's a quick walk/drive from the hotel that we usually stay at when we are in town. The food is top-notch--we ordered thai iced teas, fried rice with shrimp, chicken in "brown sauce" (it's literally called brown sauce), and the knom jeeb. All delicious and my kids ate it too. Service was friendly but seemed a little slow and nonchalant, and we had to keep asking for things. It wasn't a huge deal because we were the only ones there at an odd hour so it was easy to get the servers eye. Also I have a pet peeve of why places would upcharge for rice--seems that should be included with the wet/gravy dishes automatically the way it is at the majority of thai restaurants. While Sticky Rice has an unassuming storefront in a small shopping complex, it was a pleasant and cozy place to dine. When we arrived the restaurant was empty and we were seated immediately. The inside is decorated with bohemian and Thai-style furnishings and there is a very fun mural of different Thai dishes all across the back wall of the main dining area. There was traditional Thai music playing softly in the background which made for a nice ambiance. We started with the papaya salad which was a crunchy, sweet, and sour mix of shredded papaya and shredded cabbage with a generous sprinkling of crushed peanuts. It was a great portion for two people to split as an appetizer. For our mains, my partner and I ordered the Panang curry with pork with a side of steamed rice and the pad see ew with beef to share. The curry came in a small but deep cup and had a nice depth of flavor but a bit too much lemongrass for my taste-- just a little less would have been perfect. The pad see ew was a large portion and had some nice al dente sauteed greens for added taste and texture. We had half of these dishes each and felt contentedly full (but not stuffed) afterwards. Our server was attentive but didn't hover which was nice since it is such a small space. We were the only people to dine in, but there were a lot of folks who came for pickup orders so it seems like they do pretty good business. Sticky Rice is a delicious new restaurant which opened up in the Lewes/Rehoboth Beach area. This small family-owned business specializes in Thai, Isaan (Northeast Thailand region), and Lao cuisine. Chef Ning serves up authentic dishes that taste like you were actually in Thailand. I am truly impressed by the quality and flavors, since it can be difficult to get certain rare Southeast Asian ingredients in the beach area. Everything I have ordered here has been absolutely amazing. I love all their noodle dishes. My top favorites entrees are the Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). I love that they use fresh authentic wide flat rice noodles, very similar to ho fun/chow fun noodles. I also love that the Pad See Ew uses authentic kai-lan (Thai: pak ka na) Chinese broccoli in the recipe. I also really enjoyed the Pad Thai. The stir-fried thin rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, vegetables mixed with their secret homemade Pad Thai sauce with chopped peanuts on top is amazing! I saw that one Yelper left a negative review because the restaurant does not provide chopsticks. If anyone is curious about Thai culture dining etiquette/tradition, Thai people do not generally use chopsticks, their main utensils are forks and spoons. You hold the spoon in your right hand and the fork in the left hand, and then use the two to scoop food into the spoon to eat. I would highly recommend you get takeout here (since indoor dining is closed due to COVID-19). You can call ahead. Everything is made fresh to order. The owner is such a nice person and the servers here are very friendly. Everyone had mask, gloves, practiced physical/social distancing, and they had hand sanitizer available. They also use these cute cardboard Chinese containers. Doesn't look like much but once u start eating it's def filling. Beef fried rice: def didn't care for it. Tasted very salty but lacking flavor. Idk if it didn't have oyster sauce or sweet soy sauce or what but I had to doctor it up. Fried spring rolls: delicious!! And the sauce OMGGGG !! Som Tum (papaya salad) and sticky rice: it was very good and sweet. However I asked for spicy and they didn't follow thru so that was disappointing. But I saved some for next day and it was soooo good! Cons: the guy taking orders is not Thai, he was super duper friendly but extremely slow. When I came to p/u order another customer was waiting and he was taking phone order literally wasting the next 10 mins telling someone they don't have generals tso chicken and that is Chinese. Needless to say the waiting customer left n had I not been so excited to eat I would've left too. Also, NO CHOPSTICKS *insert weird face here* the waiter told me the owner doesn't want that and I'm like HOW?!?! I hope they are not catering to Americans with that move I was disappointed. This place is unbelievable. Although I've never been to Thailand, I've tried countless Thai restaurants in New York City and Philadelphia and this place is m my number one, best Thai I've ever had. Here's why- The curry isn't 80% soup. When you go to typical restaurants and get Panang curry, it's a coconut milk soup mixture with a few pieces of chicken. At sticky rice it is MOUNDS of perfectly cooked chicken with just enough seasoning to coat the rice. I appreciate this not just for value, but for the fact that I eat literally every bit. The seasoning itself is so multifaceted. For the panang and green curry, the sweetness and spice hits you and just rocks your senses. It's not one dimensional. My mouth is watering as I write this. The spice is on point and not for the faint of hearts. But it's a different type of spice- not one that burns, but one that sort of evolves as you chew. The noodles are great- particularly the drunken noodles- but the curry really takes the cake. This is the first spot we come to everytime we arrive in town. Finding good thai food in the Lewes/Rehoboth area can be hard, but this new restaurant definitely checks all of my boxes! The pad kee mao (drunken noodle) was the highlight of the night. The spicy garlic sauce was just right. The pad see ew was also good, but the sauce was on the sweeter side. They ran out of the wide flat rice noodles so all they had left were thin noodles for both dishes. The fried tofu was a great addition to the noodle dishes. Also tried panang curry here for the first time, and was so glad I did! Since the restaurant is named Sticky Rice, I definitely had to try out their sticky rice. Unfortunately, this was probably my least favorite part of the meal. The rice was hard and overcooked, though the presentation of the rice-- wrapped up in some sort of leaf-- was interesting. I was looking forward to trying the mango and coconut sticky rice on their dessert menu, but unfortunately, was not a fan of this either. If you're in the mood for dessert, I'd suggest going elsewhere. The thai ice tea was also overly sweetened. In terms of ease of ordering takeout, it must have been an extremely busy night because their phone line was busy for over 15 minutes, and even when someone finally did pick up, the employee was rushing my order. It took over an hour before my order was ready for pickup but... the best things in life are worth waiting for! Overall, the noodle and curry portions were reasonably priced and I would definitely recommend getting several different dishes for the table and sharing!
