What a gem!!!! Heard about this new food truck a few weeks ago and had to try it when I heard they were in Olympic Village. They are just 3 weeks old.
I loveeeeee Laos food and I really haven't tried that much of it... so I've always been curious about more dishes besides the usual khao piak. I pretty much only get to eat at at friends houses or lao's parties so I am super excited that this is now on wheels and I can get it 5-6 days a week.
I didn't know what to get, and I wanted to try everything. I got A, B & C on one plate of rice. To do this, I had to pay extra, but I expected that because it normally comes with just 1 selection. I was so impressed! The lemongrass chicken was so flavorful and juicy with a little crisp at the same time. The sausage was my favorite. I bit into it and was really impressed with the flavor.
The sticky rice was delicious too with their spicy paste sauce (jowbong). I like spicy and this was a nice spice and added great flavor to the meal. The caramelized pork was also good. Great for kids if you need to share your meal with them. This meal easily fed me, my husband and our daughter... but next time I go back I am NOT gonna share.
Papaya salad was nice and fresh. I got medium spice. While Laos papaya salad is superrrrrr spicy, since this is a food truck and most people aren't familiar with Laos food, they do make it less spicy, but you can certainly ask them to make it more spicy for you.
I asked them where they usually go... the go to Renfrew, Olympic village mostly but I think we can expect to see them pop up in a lot of the food truck locations in the near future. Currently I am following them on IG to find out where they are. Can't wait to try more on the menu!!!! read more
