A couple of months ago, on my way home from work, I saw the Rice+Soup food truck by Joyce Station. Curious about what type of food they served, I googled them, and based on their website and their wonderful Yelp reviews, I was very interested in trying them out. Per their website, they seemed to rotate between the River District, Mount Pleasant, and Joyce Station. However, every time they were supposed to be at Joyce Station (the only location I can easily get to), they would cancel, to my disappointment (they were good at updating their website, though).
I had pretty much given up hope of ever trying Rice+Soup, but nearly two weeks ago, on Thursday May 6, I once again spotted them by Joyce Station after work, so I immediately called my husband and told him I was picking up dinner.
For the both of us, I ordered two Nom Banchok Nam Ya (lemongrass chicken soup) and one Lemongrass Chicken Num Pang (sandwich) to share. The food was FANTASTIC -- the soup was flavourful, and the sandwich bread was delicious and crisped to perfection. I knew I would like the soup, but I wasn't expecting to like the sandwich so much!
In addition to being DELICIOUS, the portions were huge! My husband and I are piggies, but even we couldn't finish the soup -- they were HUGE! At $13 per soup and $8 for the sandwich, I have no idea how they can make a profit with such generous portions -- the food is not only tasty, but excellent value.
I highly recommend Rice+Soup and hope to visit soon; however, the owner (who is super friendly) indicated that they likely won't be returning to Joyce Station and will primarily be in the River District and Mount Pleasant. read more
