While in town I came here for some bottled water and cold meds... they have a decent selection of both and had what I needed. The place seems really popular, as there were lots of cars in the lot and many folks inside checking out, so there was a line, but the lone guy working behind the counter was using two registers simultaneously to check people out quicker. We have been coming up to Lake Placid for years and while we love all the ice cream stands and visiting the Ben and Jerry's in town, we also love just going into Stewart's and beating the crowds! They have a wonderful variety of flavors and if you don't feel like sitting inside and eating they will pack your pint for you to bring home. We sometimes sat inside and made our own sundae! Yes they have a small sundae bar with simple toppings. Tonight we brought the ice cream home and they let us grab some sprinkles for the grandkids so we wouldn't need to buy an entire container. Since Emma's was closed, we stopped by here for ice cream - pleasantly surprised! Reasonably priced, and delicious creative flavors (ie Cake Placid!). And they sometimes have specials - today, the waffle cone and double scoop was cheaper than a regular double scoop - and a frequent buyer punch card. read more

I have been coming to this store very often for years. Always, very good experience, love the cofee. Today, unfortuntely not. I was treated very rudely by your employee named Seana. I was second in line and she was spending a very long time giving directions to a friend, who was also buying a pack of cigarretes. After perhaps 10 minutes of waiting , I asked when can I pay for my coffee? She just exploded "Calm down, you are not the only one in the store". She finally let me pay, calling me rude etc. She was a bit scary, looked like she would do better as bouncer in a night club. I do not think service like this should be tollerated in Stewart, hope someone talks to her, a bit of training in customer service perhaps. Or may be another career path? read more

There is no one fantastic aspect to focus a review on of any Stewart's Shop. They have everything a traveler could ever want. There's gas, vehicle necessities, great coffee, an ample amount of frozen and fresh convenience items, their own line of baked goods and quite possibly the BEST ICE CREAM you may have ever had, which is also their own personal line package for sale in half gallons or pints. But on the other hand, there is just one negative aspect in the loser column: BAD COFFEE LIDS. That's right, I hate the coffee lids at Stewart's. They're the flimsy plastic lids, like the terribly ones you get at Tim Horton's, but they're WORSE, because they split on you when you press them onto your coffee cup with your giant gorilla hands that I have (see attached). So Stewart, if you're reading this, switch over to a nice dome lid, like the ones you get from Dunkin' Donuts. Doing so will allow reviewers of your small chain to really have to reach to criticize anything about Stewart's Shops, which of course would be that your door handles are too small for people's giant gorilla hands that I have. read more

This location's service was nothing short of spectacular because of the man that took care of my family - Suay. Usually you know what you're going to get when you walk into a Stewart's, but my experience went above and beyond. I'm going to keep this short and sweet. This is a gas station. There is a little area of a building behind it. Inside that little area is a convenience store. There, you can purchase snacks, cat food, drinks, beer, coffee, household products of sorts, and most importantly ice cream. Go buy yourself a scoop of ice cream for $2 and be happy. The lady who served me mine was super sweet. I got peanut butter chocolate. Worth every calorie. For the record, the sandwiches, donuts, and coffee looked yummy. read more

luckily there is at least some place to buy some snacks/grocery without going broke in lake placid. they actually make good sandwiches at a good price. however, the staff here are consistently rude. mostly comprised of high schoolers who have no concept of customer service. the attitude they gave because i did not specify the type of mustard i wanted on my sandwich was deplorable. i only came for the cheap sandwiches. luckily their business depends mostly on people stopping by for gas. this is one place in lake placid i won't miss! read more
