Funny thing is a different deli worker did EXACTLY that for me the day before. Clearly today's staff could not be bothered to provide a positive customer experience in a pleasant manner. Just off the main drag in a plaza, this supermarket is great for grabbing essentials, beer, and more. It's the main grocery store servicing the entire Lake Placid area. I would recommend anyone coming into town to stop here!

I loved that each item had the simple ingredients listed with it on the name-- this made it easy for needing to ask if you have food allergies, but also terrific to see that the treats are made with basic ingredients like you'd use at home! I tried a snickerdoodle whoopie pie with cream cheese icing inside. The cookies were perfect and the frosting was a bit on the super sweet side but that's how I like my frosting so it was delicious! My mom got a slice of pie- the flavor was pretty good but since it was kept in the fridge, the crust lost a bit of the crunch/flakiness. We bought a take and bake frozen raspberry pie for the next time we have guests over. Mom also got a brownie, which she said was very good as well. The wide selection of pre made salads and sandwiches looked great as well as the large selection of take and bake meals and side dishes. This is my favorite type of a local gem to discover. It's a perfect spot to stop on the way to or from Lake Placid. I actually visited twice in the same day! It's open Friday-Monday (as of when I visited in November'23). I think I'll actually head back to that area next weekend and stop back in to pick up a few gifts and some more baked goods! Update--- We also did end up going back to the shop the following weekend for some more shopping. Customer service could use some improvement. **As I said in my main review, we bought a frozen pie to take and bake. We baked it for Thanksgiving l there was no scent while it baked which was unusual. It wasn't the prettiest looking when it came out of the oven. More unfortunately, no one liked it! My mom said it was the worst she's ever tasted. The crust was so thick and the filling and crust both had a strange aftertaste. This was very disappointing because the treats we had in the store were delicious. If the review was based only on the pie, I'd be a 1/5 stars.

Rude, rude, and rude!…read more That was my experience the first times I ever went here when I moved to the area 7 years ago, and had sworn off ever coming back. However I have recently started helping Lakeside House clients, who often request stops to this place. The business's workers' attitudes seemed to have improved, but today that was all proven a facade. Today I got 3 small containers of food, watching the lady ring them up. They rung up as $5.?? each, for the total to then magically bounce up an unexplained extra $5 for a total of $20. The lady had a plastic bag ready, then decided not to bag them last second. When I asked for it, she told me I should have brought my own bag!! When literally other customers in store were given bags, as were my buddies, no issues given. Worse, they treat their customers like crap across the board indirectly! They refuse to allow *paying* customers to use the Wi-Fi in a *known* dead zone, strangely at this location specifically. They have several different hostile and unwelcoming signs/ messages everywhere outside the building. Just one of them being "10 minute parking only!" So if they take longer than 10 minutes to make your sandwich, they also gonna threaten to tow!!!?? The only reason I imagine people go here is to get stuff no one else in town has, like specialty snacks and beers I've also personally never seen elsewhere. The men have been somewhat nicer, but still can't even get a smile, ever. Someone needs to get rid of miserable rude granny, and while at it get the whole place's behavior to shape up. TLDR; WEIRD RUDE CRAPHOLE!!!!

Kids got ice cream and the adults got clam strip baskets, chicken fingers and the burgers always hit the spot. We understood when things were busier, were patient when waits were longer and supported it when prices went up and food portions seemed to get a bit smaller. The majority of the time the workers were hardworking and friendly. Many of the younger workers would tell us about their summers and made the regular small talk with us. Last summer we noticed that the staff seemed bothered by customers and the quality (for a nice little ice cream stand anyways) began to slip. This summer we noticed it again - workers in the back eating candy while cooking and hair in the macaroni and cheese during another visit. Some small things that we chalked up to younger kids working that were minor mistakes anyone could make. But still pretty much friendly service if not just going through the motions perhaps. Then last week we had an extremely rude server. She asked the bare minimum about our order, answered simple questions with attitude and when she handed us our food, she stuck her arm holding the ice cream out of the window and just stood there staring at people until the correct person would walk up and ask her if it was their order. It was so noticeably snotty that I overheard another group of people talking about it and other couples in our party had the same experience when going up at different times. We may head back for one last twist cone before they close for the year, but our excitement to hit Whitebrook isn't what it used to be.
