*Beware*
On our return drive home from Upstate Auto, who…read moreperformed a clutch replacement on my Jeep, we make our first stop for gas. Pulling into the gas station we heard screeching from the Jeep. So I filled it with gas, and started it and it immediately starts screeching again. We shut the jeep off and it did not restart. After failed tries to start the Jeep we called roadside assistance. We luckily got the Jeep started again so we decided to continue driving home without any stops, but for gas. At the next gas station, the car once again would not start. We crawled under the jeep and found the starter incorrectly installed and the bolts holding it barely threaded. We hand tightened the bolts and knocked on the starter to get the jeep running. When we got home were I could pull into my garage I looked over Jeep fully. We found multiple issues with the service Upstate Auto provided. From damages to absolute negligence, Upstate Auto put mine and my family's life in danger. We found bolts missing from my drive shaft, and the bolts that were still there were barely threaded! We found a broken heat shield on the passenger control arm, we found 3 bolts on the transmission un-tightened, we found the starter was damaged, we found the transmission case was broken, we found exhaust bolts loose (they also charged me for new exhaust bolts and didn't even replace them with OEM bolts), we found clips on sensors broken and the list goes on. On top of the damages, Upstate Auto let us drive off home 9 hours down interstate highways like this! If that drive shaft would have separated at 70 MPH it could have been catastrophic for my family and the other motorist around us. Next I immediately called Upstate Auto the next day they were open and talked to one of the owners. After being referred to their service manager, and per their request, I submitted an email to them with all the damages found with the pictures and I requested an immediate refund. I also submitted this via text to their service manager. Upstate Auto requested that I take the Jeep to a local dealership for repair. So I took the jeep to Fairoaks Chrysler Jeep & Dodge in VA and the total damages caused to my vehicle were $4,212.79. Fairoaks Jeep confirmed all the damages, but told me the damage Upstate Auto caused to transmission case did not hurt the integrity of the vehicle and did not recommend replacing. To replace the transmission casing it would cost $2,442 and looking at the work involved to perform the service I was turned off. So I did not pursue a fix of the transmission case with the full intent to get a refund on the original service for $1942.71 and call it even. So Upstate Auto covered $1770.79 of a total of 4,212.79 in damages and never refunded me for the original service of $1942.71. When I contacted the service manager regarding a refund, he said they did not plan on providing a refund since they covered repairs. When I brought up the fact that they did not cover repairs for transmission case, another $2,442, he said they did not feel they caused the damages to the transmission case and that that could of happened offroading. NOT EVEN A CHANCE! In the photos attached you can see the break to the transmission case is fresh, no oxidation, rust, anything! This jeep sat in upstate New York during their winter season for 2 weeks and the cut/breaks are that fresh!? On top of that, where its broken, for it to have been damaged via offroad, there would have to be other damages to the undercarriage (which there are not, my jeep is immaculate, except for the damages these incompetent fools caused). After arguing with the service manager, he said I would have to talk to the owners regarding a refund. So I requested to talk to the owners and the service manager told me to call back into the dealership and ask for them. Like really? I refused and told him I was no longer doing their job and he needed to tell the owners to call me. Well its been a month and no phone call. The owners never even called me to apologize during this whole process.
