I enjoyed the vanilla frappe and tropical smoothie the most. The matcha, strawberry banana smoothie, and mixed berry smoothie weren't that bad either. This location was a bit smaller in my opinion, which is good for a grab and go. It's quite busy though so it shows how popular this franchise is. Overall, Breka is a safe pick for pastries and drinks at a reasonable price.

While on the Culture Crawl this afternoon, I noticed the shop was open and jumped at the chance to get a slice of carrot cake. It's been 5 years since I got my hands on a slice. I think their carrot cake is one of the best in town. Note: none of their shops open on the weekends and believe this location was open to serve the "crawlers" for the East Side Cultural Crawl. My friend just wanted a coffee but I said no way and ordered the carrot cake to share. At first bite, I was disappointed with the carrot cake because it was not fresh and moist but still enjoyed the creamy frosting. I also understand it was the weekend and they normally don't open for business so the food was probably left over since Friday. TBH it looked a little chaotic, and I just stood at the counter, waiting for someone to be free to help me. No-one looked up or acknowledged me or said they'd help me in a second. So it was kinda weird. (No-one else was standing at the counter. Everyone else was seated at tables). I took the time to read the menu on the wall and look at the foods in the display case. Wow, the pies looked insanely good. Lots of sandwiches. I saw the racks of fresh bread loafs in the back. Lots of beverages listed on the chalk menu on the wall. I was REALLY impressed with their prices here. Without exception, everything here was less expensive than any cafe or bakery in town. Sometimes items were just $1-$2 less, but across the board, everything was less: coffees, pastries, breads. Nice!!! Finally a girl looked up and asked what she could get for me. I asked what kind of breads they had, specifically, if they had a challah bread. She looked at me like I was from Mars. I had to explain what challah bread is. (Is it that obscure, that someone in a bakery wouldn't have heard of it? This blew me away). Anyhow, no, needless to say, they don't have challah here. Bummer. She listed all the other types of bread. I asked if they had a baguette and she said, yes, she forgot to mention that! So I got the baguette (it was $3 and change). When I got home, my kid and I ripped right into that baguette (we are bread fiends!) and wow, it was SO fresh and so good, with the perfect crusty exterior and soft, chewy interior. For $3 and change! Great bread, great price. Despite their not having challah and their chaotic counter, I really liked this place. It'd be perfect for getting a bougie sandwich and/or pastry and coffee, to go and having a little picnic by the seawall when the weather gets warmer. Pumpernickel Bread - dark rye The loaf I picked up was still warm and it felt heavy and substantial when I picked it up. Moist and dense, very filling. A loaf I would describe as wholesome with freshness! Olive oil cake with citrus - yum, it was a full cake that Ellen the owner sliced up for me. I took 2 large slices home and we absolutely love the texture and flavour of this cake. Look forward to trying the rest of their cakes. Chicken pot pie - made with organic chicken. I saw the sign by the cashier and knew I needed to try it. Generous portion, good for 2-3 people I would say. Had it for lunch this Sunday afternoon. The filling were perfectly seasoned, the chicken were tender and am so glad they use organic chicken as eating hormone injected meat feels absolutely artificial and more people need to learn why they should stop supporting that type of chicken farms. Also, I didnt like thay they added so much sugar to the Graham Cracker crust. The Spumoni Bar tasted mostly of coconut, but the bar was super flavorful and tasty. The Cheesy Bar cheesecake texture was nice and light. The Fruity Bar was very tasty. Although I wouldn't say that it tasted like strawberry. I liked the crunchy texture from the white chocolate covered rice krispies. I liked the Matcha it could have used a touch more matcha, but I know not everyone likes a super strong matcha flavor. My top picks would be SpumoniBar, Matcha, and Fruity Bar. However, I feel that all of the bars could use more flavor. Additionally, I would like to note the fantastic customer service that I received. I had a dog with me and she has major separation anxiety. One of the staff members noticed us and was kind enough to offer to watch the dog while I quickly ordered inside.
