I'm sad to see all these negative comments about this place because I've only had the best experience here. Craig the guy who runs the place is a stand up guy. I've taken my car here for everything from an oil change, new EVAP system, and changed my heater core. I have always felt like they were honest, attentive, and helpful. One time my check engine light came on and I took it in and they flushed everything. Turns out I only needed a gas cap and they didn't charge me. Maybe they charge a tiny bit more than other places but isn't it worth it for a team who keeps you in the loop and always answers the phone when you call? I think so. read more

I wish the stars above would go in a "negative" so I could be "Truthful" on rating my experience. I selected "1" star but it really should be a negative "5" or even bigger. Went in just for a oil change- not difficult- they came "HIGHLY" recommended so I went in. They did the oil change and of course they had their guy try to do the up sale on what their diagnostic found- that was fine- all would have been fine except once I drove my car home- parked it in my driveway- I got up the next morning and went out to run errands and saw the "OIL" had leaked out on my driveway from my car. NOT an oil spot but a oil PUDDLE- river, that you could soak up with many rags!! I had to have someone come to my HOME to redo the oil change and we found that the gasket that is put to seal the plug once the oil is drained out for the oil change was replace with a gasket too "BIG" and it would not seal so the oil all leaked out. I was Thankful I was not on a road trip- Steve's automotive should be feeling "Lucky" that was not the case too, because my car's engine could have seized up and then they would be looking at a HEFTY bill!! I notified Steve's Automotive sent a photo of the "Gasket" and the one that should have been put in and the only thing they said was, and I QUOTE, " I'm sorry that the experience you had with us was not good. I will talk with the technician and use this as an "Educational" experience." I then responded that I was hoping for a different experience from this even when your shop was highly recommended. The oil leaked completely out and I had to have a "REDO" of buying a filter and oil. They responded: Quote: I am so glad that you noticed the oil and thank you for bringing this to our attention. WE check our filters that we receive from our suppliers and they unfortunately do not come with the crush washers (the brass washer you showed in the picture. Our technician "INADVERTENLY" used the "WRONG" replacement washer from our BULK washer selection!!!!!!! they txt a bit more but once I said that they needed to "REIMBURSE" me for the service I got "CRICKETS!" The end of their txt to me said and I quote, "I am sorry that you did not receive excellent customer service during your visit!!!!" I DID NOT RECEIVE THE SERVICE I PAID IN GOOD FAITH FOR-Which was a simple oil change. They should have been offering me the "REFUND" without me even asking. I had to go and pay more money to "FIX" their screw up. I will never go back- I will never recommend this place to anyone and I will hope that no one else has this happen to them. I know this is a long negative review- but it needs to be done to hopefully help someone else to NOT take their car to this place even for something so simple as an "OIL CHANGE!" I'm sorry to have to write such a negative review since the guys at Steve's are so kind. But they were dishonest about the work my car needed. I took my 2017 Hyundai Tuscon in after it went into limp mode. Steve's told me it needed a new head gasket ($5,403) and new spark plugs and coils ($1,343), totally over $8,000 of work when you added taxes and labor. I wanted a second opinion so I took it to three other shops (Hyundai Dealership in Lindon, Car Doctor in Provo and Edgemont Auto in Provo). All three shops did the same tests that Steve's said they did and all three shops said my head gasket was fine, but my spark plugs and coils did need replacing. I got the job done at Edgemont for $527. I was really hurt by the dishonesty at Steve's. They would've replaced the spark plugs and coils (what my car actually needed) and pocketed over $5,500 for work my car didn't need. I would recommend getting second opinions on any work you have Steve's quoted for. read more

I have been taking my vehicles to Steve's since they opened their location in Orem. It can be difficult to find an auto shop that has both competent and honest technicians. Steve's has both! Whenever I have an issue their technicians find the problem and resolve it quickly. I also use Steve's for regular oil changes. Gary (the guy in the office) is awesome! He is always friendly and actually listens to my, often times, odd descriptions of the issue. He is very knowledgeable and provides detailed descriptions of the potential causes and likely remedies for every issue (I've got a couple older cars that need a lot of help). Their pricing is fair and in line with the quality of service they provide. I recommend "my car guy" to everyone. read more

I do not have enough good things to say about this place! It is the only place I'll take my car in Utah. Seriously. I've taken my car here more than 5 times and the problem is solved every time! As I am a student, they have always done such a thorough job at a reasonable price. They also get it done in a very timely manner. They always give you a call to let you know when your car is done. I went in for an oil change and was there for over an hour while they meticulously went through every aspect of my car and told me what was wrong and that it wasn't safe to drive. I thought my car was totaled. Thankfully, I took it somewhere else to get a second opinion and learned they were just trying to scare me and get lots of money out of me. Unfortunately these guys where super dishonest. I went to go to them about a check engine light that had a few codes on it. I needed one of the codes removed so it could pass utah emissions. After they did the testing they told me that there was a total of five codes and that each of them had to be removed in order to pass emissions. Luckily I knew that wasn't the case. They wanted to charge me over $600 to just find out what the problem was. Of course I refused because I had just bought the car for that price. So took it over to Dave's Canyon auto expecting that I would have to do a smog test to get ride of the CO2 code. But as it turns out the problem was the freaking gas cap. Once the mechanics put on a new GM certified gas cap the light turned off. I then got the emissions done at that place and it passed. Why didn't they tell me about the gas cap? Why did they lie and say that I had to remove all of the codes in order to pass emissions? Quite frankly it was pretty disgusting and very dishonest I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. Working with Steve's was honestly the BEST auto shop experience I've ever had. They were on the phone for hours working with my warranty company. They explained everything to me. They sent updates with pictures showing what was going on, what they needed to do, and estimates on how much everything would cost. They were very nice and fixed my car up fast. I got an oil change and an unsolicited bull**** report about my car. Pages of issues and pictures about what was needed. I thought about getting a new car but decided to get a second opinion. I took my car into another (honest) mechanic named Max at Old Fashioned Service in Salt Lake City and found out Steve's are trying to get $ for work that is unnecessary. I was showed a dirty black air filter that wasn't mine. I had recently changed It. I was told the radiator return line is melting into the coolant reservoir (not true), replace front control arms (not needed) rear struts were gone, recommend rear shocks be replaced (not true), engine has multiple oil leaks and needs inspection (not needed), transmission pan is leaking (not true), transfer case needs resealing (not needed). Head gaskets were leaking (not true) and cost 1k-3k to fix...tires needed replacing ASAP (not needed yet). The only true thing was the need for a serpentine belt which I changed at Old Fashioned Service. You won't be seeing me back there again. Steve's are the reason car repair places have a bad reputation. Old Fashioned Service gets 5 stars and my future business! read more

I have worked with Steve's multiple times over the past year, and they are by far the best I have experienced in Utah County. Speaking with other shops and having received service from them I can confirm that Steve's absolutely gives great prices, is honest, does high quality work, has great customer service, and a great rewards program. They are efficient, and if you need to save money they will talk you through how to do things on your own. Excellent service. They do 3 year, 36,000 mile warranties instead of the typical 1 by 12 which greatly shows the confidence they have in the quality of work they do.
