Went to this place based on a recommendation from a friend. I cannot say enough about how friendly the staff was, and the knowledge they had about the type of stereo I was looking for. Here are the cons: 1. The stereo was $100, installation was $70 as quoted. Upon getting ready to pay and leave, the bill was $240. Apparently there are shop fees, harnesses, and plastic pieces. i agree with the cost, but was mislead on the total price, no mention of the "extra" costs. 2. When we left I noticed the stereo was literally crooked in the dash, since my wife wasn't feeling well we wen't home. I will take it back to have it fixed. 3. On the way home I went around a corner and the mic , which was installed somewhere above the instrument cluster, came flying through it and covered up one of the turn signals. 4. Upon getting home it bugged me, so I tore everything apart. I straightened up the stereo, and rerouted the mic to a safe location by the rear view mirror tucking the wiring out of sight and down the "A" pillar, where it should have been installed originally. 5. I do have a mechanical background, and this took me approximately 30 minutes to complete. So this should have been a easy install the right way within the shop bay and all the tools and material handy. With this said they need to monitor they're installation much better. The guys in the store selling the equipment need to check the installs BEFORE they are given back to the customer. A little quality control and a second set of eyes go a long way into preventing a review like this and keeping customers completely happy. read more

YES!!! So pleasantly surprise with this place. I was completely stressed out for 2 weeks because I had 4 audio book CDs that I checked out from the library stuck in my stock-CD changer. I tried everything I could think of to get those things to eject. Nada. I'm not a big stereo-fanatic, so I could really care less about high end stereo, speakers, amps, etc etc. The majority of the time, I just hook up my phone w/ the aux cord to play music or audio books. As a very last resort and with much trepidition, I went into Stereo King to see what could be done. (the CDs were now due at the library & I was accumulating late fees) I walk in & encounter super friendly staff (every single one of them!) and no one tried to sell me something I wasn't wanting. They were available immediately to install a new stereo (with bluetooth!! yay- I'm part of the 21st century now! No aux cord needed!) and quoted me a suuuper fair price - less than I was expecting. I was told they'd need about 1-1/2 hrs to get the job done. Heck yes - Deal! In half the time, they were calling to tell me it was done. What?? FANTASTIC! They took what had been stressful to me -especially during the holiday season- and made it super easy & painless. They even sat with my while I paired up my phone to make sure it all worked. I finally bought the car of my dreams a 1989 Mercedes 190e that had the original stereo in it. I wanted an up to date system. My first stop was Stereo King on TV Hiway. I was shown several different options and they kept within my budget. I had a stereo system with all the bells and whistles, rear view camera, alarm system and my windows tinted. Also fixed two overhead lights and put in an auxiliary line and usb port in the glove box. They did such an excellent job on my custom install. I've always come here to get things done for stereos. But I finally took my car to get some speakers and a sub and as well a new stereo, they went out of their way to not just make my car sound nice but I have an aft gauge that was just hanging on by the stereo, they made a like gauge pod for it so it looks nice and fits good with the stereo! They have always treated my parents well and myself as well! Good people there definitely will be going back if need anything done for stereo things! read more

I called and talked to Tony about wanting to upgrade my sound system and ultimately he decided to upgrade my 2 front door speakers. When I picked up my car I wasn't satisfied with the change, the quality was a bit better but it wasn't what I had wanted or imagined. I called Tony back when I got home and he told me he would work with me to make me happy. He set up another appointment for me to get a sub installed and gave me a better price on the initial door speakers and gave me a great deal on the sub because of the miscommunication. I also went in and spoke with Jeremy on a separate occasion and he was very helpful, kind, and informative. I will go back to stereo king with any of my future audio needs!! read more

I've been using Stereo King for just about a year now to install and support my truck's sound system and security system. I really can't recommend them enough - They've gone above and beyond on just about every level. - Very knowledgeable about what products I'd need to achieve my goals (which weren't simple, given the existing mess of factory and aftermarket gear I was replacing). We talked about a variety of options and the pluses and minuses of each. Any time they couldn't answer a question directly, they did research/reached out to dealer reps to make sure they didn't give me bad information. - Their installation tech walked me through exactly what he would be doing, including contingency plans if he had issues getting equipment to work exactly how we'd planned. - Top-notch custom fabrication for the dash work and 'fixing' a rather poor existing installation. - Excellent calibration using a mix of professional and custom-designed tools. The installer took the time to tune the system exactly how I wanted it. - Excellent post-sales support when I wanted some functionality changed/added and when I had an equipment failure. - Very friendly staff - Remembered who I am and what I had going on. The owner himself gave me a lift to pick the truck after I'd had some upgrades installed. I base this on many years of experience with a variety of levels of mobile audio installation shops from big chains to boutique shops to strip-mall shops. They've all fallen short in some way or another. Yes, I did invest quite a bit of money through them, so I'm sure I got some preferential treatment, but I did my research and their prices weren't out-of-line with other custom installers in the area. They've also not dinged me for many follow up appointments to help make adjustments. read more

Horrible, rude phone etiquette!! I had good service on my last car years ago, what happened?? Called to enquire about something for my new car and the guy was really rude! Rushed me off the phone and had no interest in helping me. 99% of product inquiries are over the phone or Internet. If you're to busy to help your customers, maybe you should hire someone to answer your phones so you're not driving customers away. I recently had an aftermarket radio/cd player installation done on my 2015 Ram. I checked with Car Stereo City first and got a flaky quote of $600 (ok, this is just a base quote and maybe it will be more and it will take all day) for a base model. When I check with Stereo King, they gave me a FIRM quote of $450 AND upgraded my radio to EXACTLY what I wanted and said maybe 2 hours tops. Needless to say...do NOT waste your time elsewhere...these guys are VERY professional and great to deal with. AAAA++++ read more

I couldn't believe the swiftness with which the crew got me in and did the job. And it was WAY under the price I'd expected!

So this is a two part story. At the end of 2014 I decided I wanted to start getting things done to my Challenger's supposedly factory high-end stereo. I went to a place near the Moda Center that my car club recommended. Lets just say, I was oversold on everything. They charged me for the wrong speakers, and didn't even install them correctly, which then possibly caused issues with the Factory amp. Course I did not know all of this, until my door speaker on the passenger side stopped working. I went to the place I had before and they couldn't be bothered. So I went to Stereo King, Within 25 minutes they had that speaker working, and told me it was not attached correctly and they fixed it for 25 bucks. So now fast forward to this last week. My Driver side speaker in my door blew, and nothing was sounding right. Took my car into Stereo King to have them replace them. What we found out is the Factory amp (which had been replaced by Dodge less than a year ago) was not working properly, and that some of the channels were not even turning on at all. At this time, with no pushing from Mike, I decided to do the new amp, along with my speakers. So now I have this great sounding front, but my "highend" factory subs sound so weak compared to these amazing new speakers. So today I went in and will be getting a box with a good sub put in next week. One thing I have noticed from the employees I have met who work on the stereos an custom make the boxes, is that they all take pride in their work. Their imaginations when it comes to some of the custom stuff I saw while waiting is amazing, and if and when I decide to go more crazy, I will be going here. Thanks guys. read more

Everyone needs a nice stereo in their car. I have been back many times. They have a big section of hardware and some good installers. The prices are much better than Car Toys. Im mostly satisfied. I have one complaint about the service. There is one employee there that lives in the land of deniability. I had them put in a double din touchscreen. Really nice. The next day I noticed that the heat was kicking out hard on my heater. Something was wrong. I took the car back explaining my problem and asked them if they could look at it. I was told that they had nothing to do with the hot/cold temp control and its a my problem. Total deniability. So, I went home and got on that internet thing looking how to take apart the dash. Found out that to take apart the dash you must disconnect the manual cable for the hot/cold damper. Funny how this was disconnected during the tear down, but not connected during the installation. So my fat ass crawled under the dash and hooked it back up. Kinda a pain. Ok, shit happens, people forget to tie up the loose ends. I get it. No big deal. The big deal what that they denied that they had anything to do with it and that it was my problem. What happened to lets take a look at it and see how we can help you out so you come back and spend money here in the future. Now less than a year later I have a speaker cutting out. Yep, new speaker with the head unit. I hope to be updating this review with a yeah, well take a look at it and fix your problem. Odds are the bald guy will tell me to take a hike again. read more

Discussed remote start options with a tech, bought the recommended $199 groupon that includes a bypass module. Go in the next day to drop off the car and they say they cant do it for less than $279 because it has a smart key(tech new that the day before). Also, no guarantees of the install happening even if i leave the car ALL DAY! Cancelled my groupon and I went down the street to Remote Start Magic and had it installed at very competitive pricing, same day, and had the best customer service I've had in years. Ill never go to stereo king again only to be quoted 3 different prices within hours and treated like a number myself. Go to Remote Start Magic! read more

I'm writing on behalf of a dear friend who will not tell about her experience at Stereo King in Aloha. She went in and preordered a complete sound system. The stereo was to be a nice unit. Containing Sirius xm satellite, as well as other features. She picked it up and things appeared to be ok. However when trying to retrieve the Sirius xm numbers to enable the catalog there were no numbers available. After going back in to resolve the situation Only to find out that the unit installed did NOT have Sirius xm capability. Upon investigation of the receipts (2 different tickets) the stereo had been down graded and other components of the install had been inflated in price compared to the original quote. Additional wiring was added and the kit for the stereo was up charged. From what we can calculate she was ripped off close to $200. They offered to install Sirius for an additional $180 with a measly $15 bucks off the tab. The manager called her and left a message saying he did not know what happened and he was sorry. However he thought by taking $15 off of an upgrade that she had already paid for in the first place would make his deception go away. It won't! This manager/owner is a joke. He gets off on taking advantage of women offering no recourse for his actions and deception. After shopping with Stereo king for over 30 years now my friend feels betrayed and like a victim of fraudulent activity. Buyer beware! To all the women out there, go to car toys. There is no deception or upcharges added to keep your ticket a high dollar item without getting the features you paid for. shaking head in disgust Stereo King is obviously hurting to stay in business by ripping off its customers. Please BeWaRe as they will offer NO recourse. Hit up the better business bureo and declare your losses. They will investigate your complaints. TY for reading this read more

I wait two hours and call them, when the person answer I tell him i was in there earlier and was wondering the wait and he was instantly rude about it. The Aloha store leaves little to be desired. I have used Stereo King for over twenty years and have not had the service and disrespect ever before that I received recently. I went in with my fiance and her daughter to have a system that had been purchased there two years previous transferred to another car. The only piece we wanted transferred was the kicker. I told them I would remove the kicker and wanted them to install a new stereo and wiring for the kicker and use existing car speakers in the new car. When they did the bid they included removal of the old kicker for $75.00. I stated you don't need to charge me for this because I will remove it and place it in the trunk of the new car for installation. The clerk responded that he would tell me what I would pay for. I responded that we would not pay for removal. My fiance realized I was now angry and decided to have the work done with them anyway . They did finally relent on the removal charge. Now the kicker has an amp attached. After purchase of a new stereo and install just short of $400. The speakers quit working in the car within two weeks. My step daughter took it back to then at my request to have it looked at as they should stand behind the install. They stated the speakers were all blown and needed to be replaced to the tune of $450.00. Luckily she called and we decided not to repair in this manner. We decided to get a second opinion. We took the car to Car Toys and had it assessed. They stated that who ever put in the kicker wired it so the amp from the car had been blown and this is why the car speakers did not work. They for $100 rewired the car through the Kicker amp and the entire system works. Thank you, Car Toys! I can only conclude that the current staff at Stereo king in Aloha both botched the install and decided to take advantage of a young woman. Very Disappointed! read more

Very impressed with the knowledge and service. I went there after being frustrated with Car Toys. Car Toys had installed a new stereo and amp in my Mitsubishi, and the sound was never quite right. The technician at Stereo King was able to repair the mistakes from Car Toys (they had cut several wires and left some speakers disconnected) and also make use of my factory amp, bringing back the sound that I had been missing. They were spot on in their time estimate, professional, and most importantly knew what they were doing. I would definitely recommend this establishment! My only regret is that I didn't come here first. read more

Stopped in last Saturday (10/24) just to get a price quote on new speakers, head unit and amp for my Honda. The guy I was talking to at first was very polite (although could not have been over 18/yrs old) He started showing me some JBL door speakers, I told him I liked the Alpine brand better. So we moved on to Alpine, when I started asking BASIC questions about the differences in speakers (Alpine R vs not) he became very irritated. When I kept pressing it turns out he didn't know the differences. How are you going to sell a product you know nothing about? Anyway... I looked at a couple different head units and front door speakers. I told him I wanted to run an amp to the speakers for the best sound. He said he needed to check with his installer (I have no idea why) but would be right back. 15/min later he came back and said I was looking at $1400.00 total. No break down as to why, such as installation or specific products, nothing. Just some scribbles on a sheet of paper. So again when I pressed how he came up with that total, which seamed astronomical based on the cost of speakers and head units I was looking at. He was quite irritated and started spitting cost of each speaker out at me. Even if I had a pen right then and there I would not have been able to write it all down myself fast enough. In his verbal "quote" he went back to the JBL speakers I had already told him I did not want as well as a JBL amplifier. (Why are they pushing JBL so hard?? kickbacks??) I told him it seemed very odd he took it upon himself to pick out which amp I wanted. I told him from the very beginning I wanted to pick out each ALPINE component (speakers, head unit, amp. ect...) Literally rolling his eyes at me he says "sorry" and walks away. Honestly at this point I thought he was going to walk back to me with a legit quote sheet and walk through each item I wanted as I requested from the start. Instead as I'm waiting I hear him start helping another customer that just walked through the door. In absolute complete disbelief I left the store irritated & upset. I will NEVER step foot in this store again and will let everyone I know aware of my experience. After all word of mouth advertising is the best form of advertising!! I am a member of 2 very large car clubs in the Portland area with significant contacts with this audio stores type customer base. Please be sure I will be letting my fellow members know as well. By the way... I went down the street and spent over $1200 with your direct competitor who did want to help me with great customer service and knowledge of their products! side note - once I got home and totaled the cost of the items it came to $600.00. So in their $1400 "quote" they wanted to charge me $800 to install $600 worth of equipment! BUYERS BEWARE!!!! read more
