Made an appointment to have some work done on my vehicle and put down a $200 deposit . However, my vehicle broke down that i just purchased 2 weeks prior and i unfortunately had to cancel the appointment with Surgeline. They took $100 of my deposit away and now said that the other $100 was no refundable as well. My Porsche has had a Cobb tuner for 2 years. Car ran perfectly for a year before the Porsche Service dept (in Bend), changed the tuning on the PDK and the tuner caused the car to not know what gear to me in. So after a year of battling this issue with the dealership, had them uninstall the Cobb software. Fast forward to now, I called Surgeline and explained what was happening, and they said 'oh yes..no problem we can take of getting that back installed and running in 1 hour or less. Take the trip from Bend to Tigard, I go in and wait for Brandon, he's on the phone so I wait. Not problem because I'm excited to get my car running right again. So after a while the guy answering phones behind the desk was told to take care of it. I said no..no, I can wait for Brandon. But no, had no choice or go home, the receptionist installs the software, and when I go to start the car, all these error messages appear. 2 hours later the receptionist can't get it to work. No surprise there. I drive back to Bend with the car running worse than before plus now I still have an error msg. Long story short, if you have a Porsche and you love your car, then...PLEASE DO NOT take it to these guys. The team at surgeline did an amazing job at hooking up 2021 STI. Prior to bringing my car in, I worked back and forth with Jack on how I wanted the build set up. He was extremely patient with me as a few of the parts I wanted were out of stock. When I made some additional changes later on, he was very accommodating and quick to respond with a new breakdown. When I arrived at the shop on Thursday, the entire process was extremely smooth. All the guys working helped me unload all the parts out of my other car. That afternoon, Jack called to give me an update on how the build was going. I went in Saturday afternoon to work with Chris on how I wanted the car tuned. Chris has a plethora of knowledge and is truly phenomenal at what he does. He is beyond an expert at his trade, explains things in a way that makes sense and truly takes the time to make sure you feel comfortable with everything. Today was NWST/RS Dyno Day. Most of us traveled from Western Washington for this event. Only to arrive and find our that 200,000 people were without power. Cobb had no power. Bobby Wintrode went and got a generator, but sadly there were no electricians available to hook it up. He went above and beyond service for our group. Ordered pizza and refunded our money. Some of our members left, but he allowed us to have a car meet in his parking lot. Then the electricity came back on. He let 10 of us Dyno our cars at NO CHARGE. WOW!!! This is a great crew. * UPDATE 2.15 * Shortly after leaving this review, Cobb reached out to me and offered to diagnose my car free of charge. Not only did they diagnose the popping noise that I had been eagerly searching for, they even took me into the garage to show me what they had found. The service was friendly and they openly answered any questions that I had. I commend Cobb for reaching out to me to make things right. Pure class. I will definitely be coming back to Cobb for my future services. * ORIGINAL POST * First off, I have installed many of Cobb's products on my car ( 2004 Subaru STI Stage 2) which have been nothing but spectacular. Secondly, this is about two seperate experiences. Experience 1: I took my car in to get the popping noise coming from the Rear differential diagnosed. I had been living with the noise, that would generate whenever my car would jerk, for some time and couldn't pin point where it was coming from. After about 30 min. the tech takes it for a drive and comes back to tell me it has to do with my end-links and I should replace them. I pay the man and I leave the shop a little skeptical because I know it can't be something so simple. Low and behold, after spending $80 for advice and $200 on endlinks, the popping noise hasn't even paused for a moment. In fact, it's gotten worse. Experience 2: I went in to have a new Stage 1 clutch installed. The install seemed to go smooth and they got me out the door in no time. However, soon after the install I started to hear a wheezing sound coming from my motor that would almost disappear once the motor got hot. I never thought much of it until 4 months later when I had to remove the turbo to fix a leaking oil return line. Once I was began removing the turbo I notice that my Downpipe wasn't even fully bolted down. One nut was missing and another was finger tight. Cobb was the last pair of hands to touch my car mechanically. I was furious. Upon further inspection, $20 worth of Titanium hose clamps connecting the intercooler to the throttle body were replaced with inferior worm clamps without my knowledge. It has taken me a long time to decide on whether or not to leave feedback based on my experience, but I figure it's best to create awareness for both Cobb and their potential customers. Ultimately, I'm more bummed that Cobb didn't live up to the expectations of their craftsmanship over anything else. read more

I recently had my car start smoking and after I shut the engine off all the oil poured onto the ground. I had the car towed to Cobb on Thursday 3/3. I arrived right at closing amidst their monthly car show. Though the employees were off for the night, they pushed my car into the shop, put it up on the lift, and spent the next 30 minutes running tests and determined it was a failed oil line. I am lucky it will be a fairly inexpensive fix. I am writing this review because customer service matters, and these guys are second to no one. Everyone knows what they are doing, and they work well as a team. I won't let anyone touch my car except the guys at Cobb because they always make the extra effort. I read a review from a "Karen" with her Porsche issues and calling the guy up front the "receptionist"...as though this professional who advices tons of people who go to Surgeline for a variety of reasons from brake jobs to dealing with Frankenstein mods, has no clue about anything. It kind of irritated me, because this lady felt she was entitled to something from Surgeline who didn't screw her car up to begin with. I don't think she really understands, Brandon barely comes out to service anything for you. He manages the joint, but often helps out with his crew. Actually, it wasn't even the dealership who messed her car up...it was this Karen who decided on her own to have her stock Porsche modified and tuned to begin with. You want to reduce problems with your car in the future, then keep it stocked. You know when you mod your car, you take risks not working later on when you bring it to the dealership, right? Anyway, I've had nothing but spectacular results from Surgeline. I've been going there for oil changes to tunes since they were COBB Surgeline. They're on the conservative side when it comes to mods, which I like. I'm more risk-adverse and so any mod for me is always striking a balance between reliability and increased performance erring on the side of reliability for DD's. Surgeline tuners are awesome at striking that balance, their technicians are awesome at troubleshooting, repairs and identifying potential issues...and the "receptionists" up front have always been good for giving you some perspective and recommendations (without upselling you jack) if you're kind of still looking for what to do and you have limited knowledge on the subject matter. Often, I've brought my own parts in for them to install and configure. Is it more costly than your "auto-repair" shop where you can't even bring your own parts? Yes it is...but, when you see Nissan GTR's, Porsche's, BWM's track-only STI's, Lambo's and whatever sitting up front waiting to be serviced/tuned...you know this ain't a dealership and you get what you pay for. read more

Excellent customer service and the highest level of work!! A couple months ago I sent them an email asking for advice on my car. I drive a 2004 WRX and had just purchased an Accessport V3 and flashed an OTS map. HJ was the person I talked to and he was patient and very thorough in his responses and offered advice free of charge (even though I wasn't even a customer at the time) he was very knowledgable and even looked at my datalogs free of charge and offered suggestions. Needless to say 2 months later when I was ready to go stage 2 I knew who I was gonna call. I contacted them about installing a full exhaust system and stage 2 pro tune. HJ sent me a price quote and scheduled a day for me. I wanted to try and sqeeze it all into one day since I was driving over 3 hours to have it done and requested a day off work. They were happy to oblige. I arrived at the shop last wednesday for my upgrade early in the morning. I was greeted warmly by HJ and handed over my keys. Since I wasn' t from the area he told me of some places I could go to kill time for the day, but he also welcomed me to hang out at the shop and play xbox or watch movies. I opted to stick around since I didn't wanna miss anything on my first tune. HJ chatted with me amiably and made small talk while I waited around. Their lobby is very cool, it has a window into the Dyno room and also a flat screen that you can watch their tuner make his tune on. It shows his computer and you can watch him make every single adjustment on the tune. Very cool. I watched Chris their tuner tune a 2015 STI and make 305 whp on when it was nearly stock. Very impressive. After he finished the tune he came inside and spoke to the customer in person about the tune and patiently answered any questions he had. It was immediately clear that he was very much an expert in his profession. I learned a lot just by listening to him. Later on in the day, HJ approached me to let me know there was a complication with my car. I was already nervous about the dyno tune since my car has 150,000 miles, but it is very well cared for. HJ took me into the garage to my car and the technician working on it to explain the situation. He told me that when he first brought it in he performed the pre-dyno inspection and it passed. Now after they had been working on it all day and it cooled, he performed another boost leak test on it after installing the exhaust and other parts and it failed. It seemed to be leaking from a valve cover gasket and they could not perform the tune. I was very bummed. It was already late in the afternoon. I asked if I paid them to fix it if they would still be willing to do the dyno tune that day. HJ explained that would involve staying rather late and that it was up to Chris the tuner. He called Chris and Chris was more than happy to stay a couple hours late (as was the technician performing the valve cover job) since I drove so far to get it done. Anyways, by about 530 in the evening my car was ready to finally roll onto the dyno. Another complication. It seemed my car was too low to get on there safely. So Chris pulled it back off and removed my skid plate to get the clearance he needed. Finally my tune commenced. It was very cool to watch even though I was nervous. And throughout the tune Chris came inside several times to discuss specific points about what I wanted out of my tune. Finally at about 730PM my car was done. Chris was able to safely squeeze 250 awhp and 260 ft/lbs of torque out of my 11 year old Subaru on stage 2 parts. I was very impressed. He spoke to me at length about how the tune went and patiently answered all my questions (even though he and HJ were staying two and a half hours late on my behalf) and even offered recommendations on what I should do in the future to get what I wanted out of my car. He also gave me a business card and welcomed me to call or email him if I had further questions. Long story short, it was a very awesome day at Cobb Surgeline. I learned a ton, was entertained, and had a great time getting my car upgraded. I really felt like the Cobb guys went way above and beyond to get me what I wanted and really cared about the work they did. And a very special shoutout to Chris, HJ, and Osiris (the technician) for doing everything they possibly could for me. I will absolutely 100% return for any future upgrades or tunes, and recommend them to anyone I meet looking for performance upgrades. These guys are awesome and do top notch work.
