Bought a car only to discover the after factory alarm was malfunctioning and previous owner pulled fuse to horn to silence it. That took away the horn function & caused dash readouts to flash intermittently. Called two big box car audio stores here in town and they wanted $93-127 to JUST diagnose the problem. I JUST wanted the alarm disconnected and my horn & my dash readouts to function properly. After 5+ calls all telling me the same story of a minimum hour diagnostic charge I finally found Steven. He gave me a estimate , told me his hourly rate but agreed to just do what I wanted and disconnect the alarms power source. I was in and out in about 20 min and it's all good. So far this is the best place for car audio I've seen in Portland in over 20 years. It's a smaller shop (nothing wrong with that and it can be a really good thing), but that leads to a smaller inventory. However you can bring in your own stuff too, which is cool. The tech working was a great help, explained everything very well and knew what he was talking about too. Also when the total price of the system came in higher than what I wanted, he recommended places to trim it and said they could always insert the other components later if I wanted. I've never experienced that before. So we'll see how the installation goes ('cause I used to do installs myself :) - but seeing the install that was going on at the time I'm pretty confident I'll be more than happy. Updated really late... however... Still a fantastic installation. I would knock it down a 1/2 star as I wish the tech would have asked before he placed the microphone for the handsfree capability of the head unit (and wasn't told that this was included, so that's good/bad??), and then wish he would have spent more time tuning the sound. Granted, it was the end of a very long installation (7+ hours), but it could have gone better I think. I still have not seen a cleaner installation, and I've had plenty over the decades... Will definitely go back for my next setup. read more

I took my 2018 Tundra to Sonic Audio to upgrade my factory stereo... Steven was great in explaining the upgrades that would work well in my Tundra..He changed out my factory speakers, added a sub woofer, a power amp and signal processor...I was able to keep my factory head unit which I wanted to do...I am now so happy with the sound and the installation of all the new components!...Steve did an excellent job dialing in the signal processor and explaining how to use it if I wanted to change his settings or add to them..The system now sounds really, really good!...It's the best upgrade I've done to my Tundra! Following a botched Car Toys installation of an iPod adapter in my XC70, I searched locally for a shop that could restore sound (yes, audio was gone) and get the adapter to work. I feel really lucky my search led me to Sonic Audio. Steven was able to make a same-day house call and get things working in under an hour for a very reasonable fee + cost of a cable. He didn't have time to make the more cosmetic changes that he was shaking his head over why Car Toys didn't do from the start (running cords via console or dash pocket), but I do plan to have him take care of that in the future, as well as install a new and better bluetooth device. He also gets bonus points for explaining everything in easy-to-understand layman's terms and seeming to genuinely care that I fully understood what the problems were and how he fixed them! I found these guys on Yelp a while back and I needed someone to install a new light bar in the front bumper of my FJ Cruiser. Their shop conveniently located off the 99, was clean and organized (this can tell you a lot about the quality of work and attention to detail to be expected) and they were there to immediately greet me with a smile and a handshake.
