I visited Stereo King and spoke to the store manager Jody about my experience of having Best Buy install my purchases. They listened as I described how the Best Buy team allowed ME to make decisions of the wiring of the devices. To be placed in a live line? Unbeknownst to me. A constant power drain. I can only a tribute to their hateful nature. So I'm having problems. Long story short. I cannot live like this. By this time Alec (the technician) is in on the meeting. I admittedly that the installer at Best Buy team followed my uneducated answers based on the technicians suggestion. Alec suggested we take a look at the car, after a few minutes they spoke and quoted a cost that I could live with. And the appointment was set. What was most interesting was that the price quoted was the price paid. Thus far I'm pleased with the tear down and replacement of the wires involved. I have intentions of having more work done the lights in the wheelwells that act as blinkers and brake lights as well as the center rear brake light turn signals, which are common on Subarus. That's my next move and I'll be making my appointment with the fantastic team at Stereo King. read more

The late model pickup I bought last week had a dead stereo and I was tired of listening to my own thoughts. So, while I was on another errand I popped into Stereo King on a whim and had the best experience. Kevin checked my fusebox to be sure I needed a new stereo. Another shop would have just sold the stereo. He respected that I was looking for a cheap solution and pointed me in the right direction. I had issues installing an aftermarket stereo in my Tundra. The main issue was I didn't really know what I was doing. Kevin was patient and informative and helped me in the right direction. I still had issues with the power and ground so went back and Mark assessed the problem, took it into his shop and fixed it in about 30 minutes. The price was reasonable and Mark was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Both Mark and Kevin made what could have been an expensive nightmare a quick and painless process that was easy on my wallet. I highly recommend these guys. It definitely pays to SHOP AROUND with your quote - $1200 for a 8" compact powered sub install + the addition of a secondary motorcycle battery (that wasn't even needed) to power the sub is pretty steep. Came in here looking for a compact powered sub to add to my new EV to give it just a little more headroom and low-end boom since my model didn't come with the upgraded audio and subwoofer package. The store has nice gear, good inventory and prices (pretty much the same as any shop), and the guys were nice enough but they didn't know enough about installs on a new EV... Being an EV they wanted to install a small secondary battery to power a an 8" powered sub and have me plug it in to be charged as needed ontop of regular EV charging. What !?! Aside from the main charging battery bank the car has a huge 12 volt battery (bigger than most standard cars) under the hood to power the bulk of the operations and stock stereo, they didn't even bother to check it out. Other models of the same EV with the upgraded stock audio include a built in powered subwoofer and use the exact same factory 12 volt battery and wiring, plus even a few other extras. Absolutely no reason to not be able to run an ultra efficient 10-20 amp powered sub or amplifier off the 12 volt battery. After consulting with a few other stereo shops and installers I was assured installing directly off the 12 volt battery wouldn't be a problem. To save a few bucks I ended up buying a small compact powered sub online. Despite not being the best shop in town I took it to Car Toys because they will install anything regardless of whether you buy gear from their store or not, some installers force you to buy your gear through them, supposedly for warranty reasons even if your gear is new in the factory box. They don't take appointments so I dropped my car off in the morning to get early in the queue, a few hours later it was done. Spent a little time tuning and adjusting and drove around a bit, huge audible difference, no need to even upgrade my factory door speakers. UPDATE: It's been over a month since I had the powered sub installed... no drop in EV battery efficiency at all, no error codes, no noise cancellation issues, no over heating or under powering, and no having to charge or deal with a secondary battery. I scheduled appointment for auto start in my Toyota initially told 1.5 hour no problem. Waited 2+ hrs paid 429$ cash got home went to start the next am it started then shut off would not work. I called them said to bring it in probly lost its settings QUIK fix, went in sat almost 2 hrs & told they had problem with wiring & would have to come back! I got home decided they didn't know WTF they were doing so canceled install. I went back to have it removed & after sitting for 1hr guy comes in tells they have to charge me for install$115 pm just get it over with. Go up to counter to get my refund of $315 the guy says we don't have cash can you come backnope so when he goes in back room all he refunds me is 200$ then he springs it on me charged for install/ un install $230 they kept. Asked for receipt & was told no receipt available this was all cash SOoo Would not recommend this place to anyone , they don't know WTH they're doing & they make up prices to suit their pockets .when they say they have to add more wires & & it will take them more than 4 + hrs to install what would you do..... read more

Great bunch of guys down at Stereo King. Dropped my Challenger off to have a sub put in the trunk. Got a call a few hours later to tell me they had discovered some wiring and components from a previous install in the trunk that they could use instead of the ones they were going to charge me for. Saved me about a hundred bucks. Not many businesses would do that. I'll definitely be back for my car electronic upgrades. read more

Went to schedule an appointment to have equipment installed into vehicle, and employee Tony told me I had to swing by and put a 20% deposit down to hold my appointment time. I have been a customer there several times before, an never had them tell me that for those appointments. Seems like employees were not happy how and where I chose to spend my money, which lead his request for upfront money. I told them forget it, if they didnt want to work on my rig, just say so. I took my business elsewhere, and got the job done cheaper, and I am alot happier. This isnt how you treat repeat customers, this is bad business practices. read more

I walked in today to look into pricing new speakers and a deck for my car. I was immediately greeted at the door, and found the vibe positive even in the parking lot. I was assisted by Tom, who I didn't realize was the manager until the very end of my visit there. He was courteous, well-informed, passionate about his business and very focused on value. I took my vehicle there to have an alarm installed. I already had the alarm as I had purchased it online. Its the same brand and model I have used in the last 3 vehicles I have owned. Ive never had any issues with them and like the features. The vehicle also needed a new actuator in one of the doors. No big deal, its a 30 dollar part and they are going to have the panel off any way right? They charged me almost 400 dollars to install the alarm and install the actuator. The last car I had it installed on it cost me that much WITH the purchase of the alarm. I also had a new sub and amp I wanted installed, the wires were allready there and I told them, and showed them. All of a sudden my cost went up to over 600. Ok what ever, I went there on the recommendation of a friend, lesson learned. I chose to just get the alarm installed. The place itself is kind of run down and I got the impression that a lot of the inventory may have "fallen off the back of a truck". It took them from 2pm to around 7pm to install the alarm, I dropped it off and picked it up. I got home and realized that the alarm wouldn't unlock the passenger side door lock. No problem, Ill run it over in the morning and get it looked at. Morning came and I started up the car, was waiting for the windows to defrost. Got out to scrape them a bit. Went to get back in.....oh look the doors are locked. The alarm locked the doors after I started the car. ok fine, but when I opened the door it should have unlocked right? No. No it didn't. Never did that before. I could lock the doors and open both from the inside and they unlock. I imagine the manufacturer did this for a reason. Any way, had to call a locksmith who charged me 60 bucks to unlock it. As it sat running for an hour while I waited. Took it back, asked them to fix it. They had it all day again, managed to fix it but now my window wont work on the same side the lock wouldn't work. Lock works though. Any way, for the quality of merchandise they sell, the shotty install work and the cost of the work, you can do better. Ive had everything from full custom systems to just a new deck put in my vehicles over the years, I enjoy having music. Ill never go back to Stereo King or send any of my friends there. read more

After checking a few of the big box stereo stores (Best Buy, Car Toys, etc.) we stopped here to checkout a new stereo and a new flip-down screen for our vehicle. We met A.C. at the TV Hwy store and he walked through what we were hoping to do and made a few suggestions. We told him what we were looking for and he walked us through our options. He wasn't pushy at all and let us make the choices for ourselves. There is nothing worse than a pushy salesperson just trying to jack up your total bill (especially with little accessories or features you don't care about). He was upfront with us on what they could do and took a day or two and thought about what we had seen while we were in the store. We called him back after deciding and went in to pick out our audio and video equipment. He got us in to the install quickly and we picked up our vehicle the next day. All equipment costs were laid out ahead of time, including the install - so no huge surprises. We even added a security system in the end to protect our new toys. They also told us about the warranty and reiterated that if we had any problems at all to come back or call and they would take care of it, which made us feel a lot better about the whole transaction. If you want a cell phone or a cd go to Best Buy or Car Toys (if you can even get their attention....we walked out without even an acknowledgment from any staff), but if you want actual audio/ visual/ car security equipment and KNOWLEDGE; go talk to the staff at Stereo King. They know what they are doing, will answer all your questions with good insight and not push you into something you don't want. Excellent knowledgeable installers whom will walk you through your new purchase too, they also seem to like what they do... We also liked that Stereo King was a locally owned and operated company, I would rather keep my money in the community when at all possible. I installed the stereo, but the backup camera wasn't working properly. Call Stereo King in the morning, and see if I could bring my car in to get it looked at. J.D Morrison saw me immediately. They fixed the issue, but looked like there was something else wrong. J.D and his buddy is staying after hours to make sure that I'm getting taken care of. Much appreciated! I can't believe I haven't already reviewed these guys. They are the best! I went to them a couple years ago to replace the factory stereo in my car and they were incredibly reasonable price-wise, super friendly, and installed it in just a couple hours. At the time, they suggested getting a bluetooth-capable receiver, but I didn't see myself needing that, and they were totally no pressure, just gave me all the info and let me choose for myself. Today I went in because I finally *did* need bluetooth (I was SO over fussing with the dongle I have to use if I want to connect my new phone to my stereo) and once again, they were super friendly, gave me all my options in a no-pressure way, and were so reasonable on the cost for labor (the cost for the stereo matched every other website selling the same model, so no crazy markup there either). It was a weekday morning, so the turnaround time for installation was actually less than an hour. I just went next door to chill at the Taco Bell for a little while, then came back over and it was good to go! The guy that was helping me even came out to the car with me to show me how to get my phone paired and use the controls. I love, love, love this place and will return any time I need any stereo-related work done on my car. I know I can count on them to provide an excellent experience. The only things that seemed like an upsell were products that really would have made my car sound better. I said yes and no depending on what I wanted and there was no argument.
