Do not get anything done at this shop. I am one of many that have had nothing but empty promises and the worst costumer service. I had a very simple stereo system installed and they took my money quickly but took 2 years to complete the install. The wiring they did was so terrible and the connections they used looked so half assed garbage. When the speakers did have sound coming out, it was mostly high pitched static. The static sounds was so bad it hurt my ears. The static would continue to come through the speakers even after turning off the stereo. I would take it back and ask Steven to fix it, he did not know how to correct this problem and showed no interest in rectifying the unacceptable shottie work he had done. I feel I have been patient and even willing to give him more money to correct the problem but he expressed not having any interest in helping. He did have interest in trying to sell me other services such as installing lighting and modifying my front grill. Neither of these services had anything to do with the system. The shop is inadequate and I have zero confidence that they can do anything correctly not even customer service. There has been no above and beyond help like they express on social media. read more

At first this company was awesome but then one of the co-owners left. And I had my 4runner in there for led dash lights 3 times and refused to go back and have them fixed again within 3mos. Dash light just stopped working and screws fell out or lack of screws were installed correctly and my dash is off center too. Absolutely horrible sense the split of partnership. This is a real great place to have your audio and others on board services. I had a kind of unique task that not too many places can do which was to replace the LED Digitized screen on the navigation board of Lexus IS250 year 2007. For some reason, the touch screen did not work and to replace the LED digitized screen is not an easy and common task to perform. I had checked around couple of audio shops but only Steven, owner of this great place SA Sonic Audio can do it perfectly with a very reasonable price. Not only this, Steven even went beyond his great service to do it for me second time since I forgot that there was a protective film cover it when shipping from manufacturer to prevent the broken damage. Steven had to uninstall the whole unit again to remove this protective film and reinstall it again so the navigation board is clear to operate. Steven spend an hour to do this as a courtesy to customer without any charge. If you don't mind drive to Tualatin for your car audio services. This is the real great place to stop by and you would never regret this. And don't forget to enjoy Steven's great refreshment coffee and drink while you wait for his excellent services on your car. I recently hired Sonic Audio to upgrade my system in my convertible. After going to several other car audio businesses Sonic came in with a quote on my upgrade the best. So I made an appointment to have the work done with Sonic. after keeping my vehicle 7 days I was expecting a nice polished job. instead I have the upgrade that sounded really good which I expected after $2000 but no polished job. They basically stuck a box in my trunk which was the sub. ( supposedly handmade for my car) but made it virtually impossible for my top to go down. I made an appointment to resolve the issue but I got the appointment days confused and showed up on the wrong day. They refused to look at the issue and wanted me to make another appointment (another two or three weeks) to look at my issue. I drove off frustrated and extremely let down by their lack of customer service. At this point I am praying that the equipment was put in properly. If I would've known about their lack of ( NONE) customer service I would've gladly paid the extra $200 to get the attention that I feel I deserved at one of the other car audio installation businesses locally! read more

I am very happy with my experience here. I had gone to Car Toys and just didn't like the vibe I got from them. Seemed like they were ripping me off on the quote and I didn't want to really go back. I looked around online for a place with good reviews and found Sonic Audio. Steven was great... he responded quickly to my email, explained what he would do and for how much. I called to make an appointment and was able to come in that day. Steven did the work (installing SiriusXm satellite radio) very quickly and it looks great. Better than I was expecting and for a much more reasonable price than Car Toys (the price kept going up the longer I talked with them when I was there). This is my second visit to Sonic Audio, I have local options in Hood River but was not pleased with the quality of the work completed on my last van. I did some research and Sonic Audio came up and was only one hr away. It was defiantly worth the trip!!!! Brad and his Installers are skilled technicians in the Audio world with attention to detail and top notch service. I talked with Brad on the phone first and he took the time to answer all my questions and then we scheduled an appointment, they prefer appointment installs. The work was completed in a timely manner and I'm very pleased with the results. I came back to upgrade some audio components and have them wire up some LED lighting,switches and backup camera. I cannot recommend Sonic Audio enough to someone who wants a quality installation at a fair price. I first tried Car Toys and after 4 separate trips to correct installation issues I had them put the stock radio system back in and vowed never to go back. After doing more research and reviewing Yelp comments (which I should have done in the first place), I went to Sonic and Steven put in the exact same system without any of the problems! Brad is the most knowledgeable and creative car sound guy I've ever met or heard of! My Satellite Radio wasn't working well and I was on a long road trip in my Nissan Frontier, sooo I looked on yelp for a good shop near Portland and found Brad at Sonic Audio. Don't be put off by the little shop in a warehouse district. Everything was clean and really nice--and the coffee was good. I got an excellent new radio and an amazing bass amp/woofer for a very reasonable price. They were able to hook up the radio and my iPhone through my steering wheel controls, a really nice feature. My dash looks better after this installation than it did before. They took time to show me how to work all my new stuff and sent me off with reliable radio and thumpin' bass. Later I had trouble adjusting the brightness on my radio display and called Brad--he called right back and was able to talk me through the process on the phone. I highly recommend these guys and will definitely drive to Portland from my home in the SF Bay Area for future auto sound work--they're that good. read more

Went on the previous posted reviews and had a great experience!...both Brad and Steven are thorough professionals. Steven worked on my Land Rover Discovery II Series '2000 model. He replaced the factory fitted Harmon Kardon tuner with an aftermarket Sony system that I had ordered online, which had HD radio and connected to Satellite Radio. Steven did a very neat and clean job of the installation including finding an ideal location for the Satellite radio antenna. Would highly recommend these two guys. While installing my back-up camera, a trim piece cover for a screw in the rear hatch was broken. They did not report this to me. Instead, they tried to fix it by using some putty - a fix that lasted less than an hour as the cover piece was dangling by the time I returned home. It is very disappointing that they did not tell me about this problem. read more

Alright... it's about time I left a review for this place because it will forever be my go to. Steven is such an amazing person and at this point in my car projects progress, I can easily consider him a friend, as well as his amazing crew. These guys are awesome! I actually found them here on Yelp and was just a little skeptical about trying them because all of their reviews were so good. How could anyone get nothing but 5 star reviews? But I needed to have an updated stereo installed in the vehicle I use for photography trips, a 1998 Dodge Durango 4x4, and wanted a back up camera as well. I had the stereo and a set of speakers so it was difficult to find someone to install something they hadn't sold me. Sonic was happy to do it so I figured I didn't have much to lose. Right from the start they were courteous and helpful and the installation price was reasonable enough that I also had them install some low beam led headlights in both my vehicle and my husband's truck. When I showed up for the install I decided I needed rear speakers installed as well. They put speakers comparable to the ones I had for the front in and I had the car back the same day. Hard wired back up camera, stereo, speakers and headlights. It has been several months and everything still works perfectly. I would recommend these guys to anyone. BTW the dog is pretty cool too. :) read more

i know this business gets a lot of good reviews but not every business is perfect and Sonic has some things to learn. Yes they are good at what they do and yes they normally go above and beyond to please the customer but I had a few issues with this business that makes me never want to go back again. One is communication, they went ahead and did work on my car and poorly communicated prices and rates and at the end expected me to be unsurprised at the final price. Sure it was my first experience at an audio shop but c'mon, meet the customer where he/she's at and tell them what they need to know. Be up front with prices before you do work you can't undo! I kept feeling like they were trying to suck more money out of me and they succeeded in doing work that I was not aware of. That's shady. At least tell me what ur doing and how much it cost. Never assume your customer knows all the details of the job, ur the expert! Finally, I was forced to stay at the shop for the 3 hours they were doing the work and never once did they offer anything to me or say something like 'make ur self at home' or say anything indicating that it was cool to hang around. Yes it sounds like I'm being picky and stuck up, but there is nothing around the shop to do. It's totally isolated, and in that context you should make ur customers who have to sit around and do nothing feel at home.comfertable. Make them some coffee. Invest in other hospitable amenities. It will make ur service so much better than big brand competitors. Other than those few things that made my experience boring, uncomfortable, and feeling like I was taken advantage of, they did a good job and they know their stuff. That being said, they are young and have a lot to learn about customer relations, hospitality and working with customers on their financial and knowledge level. Yes go to this shop, support these guys and their work over bigger brands, and hopefully your experience is better than mine. read more

He had to come back because one part that came with the radio didn't fit (not his fault), so he went and got the right part and returned later to install. So after replacing the rear deck speakers on my corolla, I decided to upgrade the fronts as well. I decided I was going to purchase the speakers, and have a place install them. I first went to Car Toys and thought $185 for install and shop materials was ridiculous. After finding sonic audio I thought with the great reviews, they must be around the same price, but no so. The girl who quoted me over the phone was off by $30, and forgot to put me down for an appointment. This was great though, because when I arrived Steven and staff apologized and got my car in the garage promptly. Even with the miss quote, I still saved over $50, than going to car toys. The wait time was just as they said it would be, about an hour and half. After the installation, Steve had me test the speakers out to be sure I was satisfied before leaving and gave some options for me on my future plans to add an amp and replacing the stock stereo. Overall, a very good first experience! The staff and Steven were friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them for your stereo needs. read more

Sonic Audio is the best audio place in the greater Portland area hands-down. They took 5 minutes to diagnose the problem w/ my stereo for FREE and then sold me the part I needed for only $15. I had called every other place in the area and got quoted $110-$125 for an HOUR of work and this did NOT include fixing it or parts. ONE call to Sonic and the guy told me he'd diagnose it in the parking lot for free and then we would go from there. There was 0 pressure at all to buy from him or let him install it, however I will 100% use Sonic in the future for paid installations or parts, these guys are a real class act and a perfect example of a quality small business that deserves the support of the community.
