I searched a number of stereo shops in the PDX area to do an install on my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek, and I decided to work with Sonic Audio based on other reviews as well as the good feeling I got after first talking with Brad on the phone. He listened to what I wanted, asked smart questions, and made some great recommendations. Brad spent a lot of time with me on the phone and via email determining the ideal gear that matched my car and desires, and to follow up to a variety of questions I had. I ultimately decided to get a full acoustic treatment, amp, all new speakers plus sub, and to keep my stock head unit. I dropped off my brand new car (it had less than 50 miles) and was kind of nervous to have the entire interior removed for the acoustic treatment to the entire car. Brad and Steven texted photos of their work throughout the job, which was awesome, and kept me informed of their progress. The Subaru XV isn't known to have the quietest ride, and after the acoustic treatment was installed I noticed that the ride was much quieter and enjoyable, which is wonderful whether I have the stereo on or off. I felt these guys do very high quality work, and that they focus on the details to get the job done right. I was very impressed with the quality of the install and the sound of the new system. First met Steven when he was still working mobile repair - came out to my home in Sherwood and fixed some issues I had from a less than stellar install at Car Toys. Steven was great - fixed what was not working correctly and suggested some other work that could be done to improve the system - but no pressure. A few months later I went to his new shop in Tualatin and had a new deck, amp, and speakers put in my 96 Nissan Sentra. Awesome work and very inexpensive. Even got to hang out in the shop and play with Lucy (that cute little pug they have). A year later I'm having a couple issues, so call up and make an appt. to come in for them to take a look. In less than an hour Steven (and his partner Brad) have diagnosed the issues, fixed everything, and all at no charge because Steven felt the work was basically a follow-up to the last install, more than a year earlier. Solid!!! I will go back to Sonic Audio anytime I need car stereo install or work done on my current system. Really appreciate their honesty and integrity. After a few years my system wasn't sounding right and I stopped by their store to talk to someone about my options. In the past I have enjoyed good experiences with a few audio shops, but these guys are by far the most impressive of them all. The experience was so good I am writing a review and I don't write reviews. To begin, they listened and helped find the best solution to fit my needs without any up sell pressure. That alone is hard to find. The prices were more than reasonable on the speakers I added and I thought the labor charges were surprisingly inexpensive and I love that. The quote was right on the button and they finished it quicker than expected with amazing results. It's also the cleanest audio shop I have ever seen and they were the most friendly, respectful and humble group of people you will ever find in this business. Keep in mind they are exclusive Rockford Fosgate store so if you are shopping your options are limited, but they are happy to install your own gear. Awesome customer service!! Did some research and based on reviews seemed like this was the place to go. The sound went out in my aftermarket stereo (which was installed several years ago and not by them). Took it in today with no appointment and Steven IMMEDIATELY said let's take a look. Within 10 minutes of testing various potential causes he determined that my receiver had finally bit the dust. I purchased and had him install a new one within a couple hours with no appointment and it wasn't like my vehicle was the only one there. They had a couple inside and several outside that they were clearly working on ahead of mine. Now everything works even better than before. The unit is a massive upgrade from my previous one. Upon pick up he even set it all up for optimal sound and spent 10 minutes going over with me all the vast features including Bluetooth and hands free calling (which I didn't have on my previous receiver). Will not be going anywhere else for future car audio needs and would suggest you do the same! Skip the chain audio stores and give these guys your business! read more

Whoa! So happy I followed the Yelp reviews and had my Pioneer head unit and Punch speakers installed by Steven and Brad and ? (3rd one- Nathan?). First I was going to get a NAV unit but after getting a couple of quotes for basic set-up and a mid priced set-up, I decided to get a single din Pioneer 9600 and speakers. Brad quoted me a less expensive set-up but I went with one that was a little bit more. So, there is definitely NO up selling for my stereo. Prices were inline for retail and not marked up much. For retail it seemed about right. Steven and Brad were knowledgeable and answered all questions that I had, but also I liked that they were professional and focused on the work. Nothing felt rushed and a good amount of 'quality' time was spent on my car. 1 last thing- I was talking to Brad about fuses because my 3rd brake light was out and like 5 minutes later he comes back in and said, "yeah, it works now". It's little things like fixing a brake light that will keep me coming back to Sonic Audio and telling my friends to do the same. Thanks Guys! read more

I brought my bus to get a Alarm system with back up camera and 10 inch monitor. The back up camera was placed to low where you can knock it off And it can be stolen. Two days later the radio stop working. i went back to get the radio fixe And They fixed the radio but refused to move the camera to connect it on the top of the bus. Eddie the owner was racist and not able to communicate with me I guess because I didn't speak Spanish and was a black woman. after I told him what the issue was he ask my driver. now I'm the customer who gave you the 1200 in cash. I would never go back there. bad customer service. They didn't want to move the back up camera and place it higher on the bus. Telling me he can put the camera up there but it's not going work. It's not going to work because he refuse to run the wire to connect it. shame on you for being racist toward me and being a lazy worker not wanting to run the wire higher up on the bus. It was funny how you knew English when you charged me 1200 for the service. read more

Sonic has worked on three vehicles for me, two pickup trucks and one classic '67 Mustang convertible. Each vehicle now has an amazing sound system with clarity and function I have never experienced before. The trucks now have backup cameras that I could not now live without. And the Mustang is just amazing - a radio that looks like the original, but has full modern features and sound, with a few custom features. The can-do attitude of the staff is amazing. Every time I have been in the shop, I feel like I am the most important person of their busy day. They all take time to explain different options, and most importantly, to listen to what I want, and to find me the best option and price. My Honda civic still had its original 18 year old stereo system. It was way past time for an upgrade into this century! Sonic was fantastic. Granted, I've never had a an auto stereo installation, but I really can't imagine them delivering any aspect of the experience better then they are already doing it. The atmosphere of their shop is professional and efficient but also very relaxed, they were knowledgeable and helpful without any pressure to install things that I didn't want or need. I ended up having to push my appointment back an hour and requested additional speakers installed upon my arrival, they were very accommodating and still had everything finished within the original time estimate. The new sound in my car is phenomenal. Their prices are very reasonable, they guarantee their work, and they are happy to troubleshoot post-install. We just had an audio upgrade in two of our vehicles, a Toyota Sequoia and a Toyota Prius. Sonic Audio did an outstanding job on both vehicles. The factory installed systems had always produced very poor sound reproduction quality. There was no bass at all. Sonic Audio did a wonderful job. The difference in the sound quality is really amazing. These guys are great and we felt that the price was reasonable. They did both jobs "on time" and "on budget". We will definitely "tout" them to anyone we know who is seeking a similar improvement in the sound systems in their vehicles. Like others, I was very turned off by Car Toys. I came across these guys in my search for decent shop to install remote start for me. Brad went above and beyond to give me information and help steer me in the right direction. I emphasize "help steer", because there was never any pressure or over-selling. What a great find! I was looking for some advice to decide what to do for my ailing car audio system and was determined to avoid the "Best" guys and the oh-so-pushy "Toys" folks. I also wanted to stay close to home. To my surprise there is a treasure of a little audio company just off the highway in Tualatin, Sonic Audio. I pulled in without an appointment Saturday, and an hour later my problems were solved. These are owner-operators who have a true passion for mobile sound and security systems and have been gathering knowledge and experience since high school, not quite a decade. These guys at sonic audio definitely know there stuff... However that's not what makes them a 5 star company. There number one is costumer service hands down. They already love what they do and are not out to make a quick buck. They truelly want there customers to leave happy . Every question I asked they had the answer any advice I needed they gave me there honest opinion. Most shops Iv been to will lie to get products off there shelf by telling you a certain product is there favorite just to get you to buy it. I asked for the best and they gave me the best . When I was doing research to have my dash cam installed I was amazed to find a place so near to me in Sherwood with all five-star reviews. I must admit to being a bit skeptical. After having the dash cameras and a subwoofer installed I can tell you without hesitation that I wish I could give Steven more than five stars! Great mobile service! Fast, honest, and knowledgeable... I have done a few simple aftermarket installs over the years but ran into a hiccup with the 1996 ford explorer eddie bauer edition with JBL system. There were wires going all over the place from the previous owner and I was trying to install an aftermarket head unit. Things were looking bleak. Stephen came in and with lightening speed-sorted it all out, double checked everything and had everything working in just over and hour. He did all this and charged me way less than I was expecting for such a complex job (at least complex to a novice such as myself). I would recommend him to anyone! read more

I looked around for a backup camera with mirror monitor installation. I took advantage of their WEB special which was much lower than the competition. The work was completed quicker than the estimated time for installation. They have a cool place to wait and very comfortable furniture. Everything worked perfectly and looked great. Steven even went the extra mile and wiped off my dusty dash. My truck magically had a backup camera and new mirror and I couldn't tell he had done all of the work to install it. I have a 2007 Mercedes 550 E class. Still a great car. Problem was it did not have bluetooth or any of the good stuff like Andriod Auto. Steven at Sonic Audio was able to bring it up to date. He suggested a new head unit and advised that he could make all the steering controls to work. The Mercedes has fiber optics and a amp in the back. It did not scare him and after watching him do some of the work it was clear it was not his first rodeo. He knows what he is doing and is efficient with his time. I can highly recommend his service. My car radio stopped working so I went to a chain store and got a quote that seemed exorbitant. Found Sonic Audio on Yelp, saw their rating and thought I would give them a try and I'm so glad I did. I cannot say enough good things about Stephen and his staff. Their estimate was a third of the chain store for the same stereo and installation was seamless.
