    Nine 2023 stuffs donut hole

Steph Donut Hole is a great place. Dana is here and she is wonderful. She warmed up our ham and cheese croissant sandwich. She came to our table and asked if everything's OK. She's very sweet. We got a six pack of donuts for our painters at home. We also got a Bavarian cream filled donut, which was perfectly fresh. We are giving Steph's Donut Hole at all five stars. Dana said they've been open since 1991

We came here in the middle of the day, so I didn't expect the donuts to be the freshest, but it's not that, it's that they seemed like a day old or something. Idk, not sure. Aside from that it was inconvenient that they only took cash, or at least that's what the lady said. If my memory serves me correctly, they did have an atm ? But still. As for the taste, they were good. I mean, I've never had a bad donut. But, it is a convenient spot if you're craving a donut or two.

Omg Still the best creme puffs on earth ! I signed up for dog training at ez pups in Alpine. I was so excited to see Stephs at the Tavern exit off 8. I would stop here on my way to Arizona. I'm serious thier donuts are the best in California.

Donuts were very good. We also sat down with coffee. The coffee is delicious. Dana her husband and their son were extremely nice. We got birthday presents, donuts for a cake. So different it's fun I will be back. Ambiance is clean and quiet.

    Cream puffs

The cream puffs were disappointing!! They were sort of rubbery. It was cash only which was unexpected because there was no sign to indicate this.

I'm sorry. This is a review I should've posted ... 4 years ago. Honestly. November 2016 I found myself in Alpine, CA and at a suggestion, I found a giant donut in my hand. I don't know if they still sell these (the other photos don't seem to show one quite this size) but gosh darn it; this was a really scrumptious donut. Maybe after COVID I'll get a road trip going and have another one.

We already got our pie fix at Mom's, but made this our last stop before heading out. It was so cold out, a super chilly day, there's nothing more perfect than to grab a hot cup of steaming Apple Cider! It hit the spot! I couldn't stop just standing there sipping my hot cider while waiting for our to go items to be prepared. We got two apple cider donuts, one cinnamon sugar and one chocolate dipped. Long ago, I tried these tiny heart shaped pie crust cookies covered in cinnamon and sugar - Apple Memories! These are crisp tiny bites of love that you want to take home every single time! There are actually two buildings. One where you can grab a bite to eat, the other has all the merchandise, and both have whole frozen pies to grab to go! The building where you can dine has a small inside dining area, it can get cozy in there, but on a chilly day, that is exactly what you want! Just outside there is plenty of room outdoors to enjoy the scenery. In the merchandise building I couldn't help myself... we took home a whole gallon of apple cider, and also bought a jar of Cinnamon Apple Honey Spread and a jar of Apple butter... absolute yum! The hubs also decided to try the apple cinnamon chapstick! Yes, you can grab one of these famous pies at many different establishments throughout San Diego. To make name a few, Iowa Farms, Spring Valley Market, Siesel's and even at Vons! But if you're in Julian, don't forget to try a pie, grab some Apple Memories, and don't forget to bring a hot thermos to take that hot Apple cider to go! Enjoy!!! Simply the Best! And since they're open 24 hours, I knew I had a good chance of getting something fresh. Let me tell you what I grabbed: Glazed donut Bear claw Sinclair donut BABY... when I tell you these donuts were hitting?! The glazed didn't even make it home. Not even out the parking lot good. You know how sometimes you bite into a donut and it's just... air? Dry? No substance? Not here. These were hearty but still light, fresh without being greasy, and that glaze? Soft and perfectly sweet -- not that dry, crackly, fall-off-in-your-lap situation. Just melt-in-your-mouth goodness. And that bear claw? Stuffed and substantial. They are not skimping on anything over here. The donuts are a really good size too. At $1.75 for regular donuts and $3.00 for the large fancy ones, it's honestly a steal. Now let's talk service. Peter is SO sweet. Great customer service, patient, and he'll happily explain the donuts, ingredients, and menu if you have questions. That kind of hospitality at 1AM? Top tier. I'll be honest -- I'm normally a Sunny Donut girlie... but "Honey Donuts" just took them down and took the crown. If you're ever in Santee and you want fresh, affordable, legit GOOD donuts any time of day (or night), give them a try. You won't regret it. Thank me later. You're welcome.

My fiancée & I had seen Parlor Doughnuts numerous times after the Oceanside Sunset Market. & every single 1 of those times, we were already too full from grazing at all the food stands by then to give it a try. So on a Saturday afternoon, when we just happened to be nearby, we popped in for some impulse buy doughnuts. With a staggering variety of delicious looking toppings/ flavors, the possibilities looked enticingly intriguing. Staff behind the counter was friendly attentive, & helpful. Although there are some savory options available, which seemed to me like pizza toppings on doughnuts, we stuck with sweet: maple bacon & bourbon caramel. Tried & true flavor combinations, both. But the dough, whoa. For starters, the 2 doughnuts we got didn't have holes. That actually makes a difference in how the doughnut cooks. Secondly, the dough ate more like bread dough than a doughnut. Doughnuts have a hole for a reason. You see, it's physics, son. When you consider how thermodynamics affects an oblate spheroid vs. a toroidal sphere, it becomes evident that a doughnut without a hole will not cook evenly throughout inside. In fact, this was specifically proven on MasterChef Canada Season 8, Episode 8 during a doughnut pressure test. In that episode, Andres forgot to put holes in his doughnuts & they were undercooked in the center. Hey, I did start this review with admitting I'm a nerd who watches too many cooking competition shows. Uniform doneness aside, there was also the breadiness. If I'd been told these doughnuts were some kind of new take on Pan Dulce, maybe I would've liked them more. But given the expectation of a doughnut, what I tried at Parlor Doughnuts just wasn't it. The staff was great, & the toppings were fine. But with the word "dough" literally in the name of the product, to come up short there leaves something to be desired.

Luckily, we found a parking spot nearby and we were able to explore around the area. This time, we were able to walk around to see what else was located nearby. While walking down Coast Highway, we saw some large advertisements for Broad Street Doughnuts. The photos were colorful and we were in the mood to try something new. We had never heard of Broad Street Doughnuts, so we were hoping that these would be delicious. Broad Street Doughnuts is located off of PCH, in the city of Encinitas. This is their only location on the west coast. They have 3 other locations in New Jersey, so it's great that they opened up a shop out here. They share a parking lot with other businesses, so parking is relatively easy. Their doughnuts are made to order. You will not get that stale, day old taste when you take your first bite. They are fried up after you place your order and then the toppings are applied. It beats staring are doughnuts through a case and ordering what may have been sitting there for hours on end. The menu is on the wall and it's totally visual. Each combo is displayed in a vivid photo. You can select from those or from the doughnuts that are near the register. The doughnuts at the front counter are not featured on the visual menu, so you may need to ask about their toppings/combos. I got a classic rainbow sprinkled doughnuts, along with a half glazed and half chocolate sprinkled doughnut. We also ordered a cotton candy doughnut that had what looked like dried out cotton candy. Delicious!!!! These doughnuts were light and fluffy. They were warm to the touch and incredibly fresh. They are a bit smaller in size, when compared to an average size doughnut. They seem prefect in size because you could walk the calories off while exploring around Encinitas. Broad Street Doughnuts was a pleasant surprise. Sometimes the visual representation isn't always an indicator of how good the product will be. In this case, the product lived up to the visual representation. We have passed by Broad Street Doughnuts many times, and finally had an opportunity to stop by. We were pleasantly surprised with both the product and how friendly the staff were with all of the customers. We will definitely be back when we are back in the area!
