So glad I got to be there for their final day on Monday, August 31, 2026. I haven't known the owners for very long, but after all the times I had the chance to enjoy their amazing pastries, sandwiches, and sourdough bread, I was more than impressed, and definitely well fed! Also complained when I drove 45 minutes uphill both ways to have nothing left to buy. LOL We also shared plenty of good laughs, especially when I told them I was allergic to water, salt, and oxygen. Somehow, they still managed to find something I could eat. I was lucky enough to buy their very last loaf of sourdough bread, and yes... it is now safely tucked away in my freezer. I'm trying to savor it one slice at a time and make it last as long as possible! It's sad to see such a special place close. I truly hope whomever takes over the business is able to carry on the wonderful tradition, quality, and warmth that made this place so memorable. We have been here 2 times, and will never be back. Beware of the Owner who will likely also be your server. Here is why: On our first visit, the prices for drinks were high to begin with, but when we asked for an iced latte upgraded to half and half (Breve), we were told it would be extra. Shame on us for not asking how much. A 24 ounce latte with regular milk was $6.95. The upgrade to Breve was an extra $4.00!!! For a grand total of $11.80 with a flavor shot!!! And the drink was of very average quality. More recently we got a scone that was EXTREMELY DRY. When it was brought back, the owner first said "You realize this is a scone, right? As a 30 year baker, that was insulting. Then she squeezed it and said she wanted us to try "the middle". Again, insulting. When I politely declined and said I'd like to get something else, she was very hesitant, and said she was afraid we would be unhappy with another selection, and preferred to give a refund. We stopped here for lunch after snow tubing most of the morning and I'm glad we did, this place is locally owned and so cute. I loved all the pastries options and even all the coffee and latte flavors, I couldn't decide. The kids enjoyed their hot chocolates and loved the pastries. I loveeee CroBean. Every time I come here, the customer service is so good. I'm always greeted with a smile and friendly conversation. She's the sweetest. My go-to order is the 24 oz iced toffee nut latte with an add shot, Oatmilk, and extra ice. I prefer more coffee-forward lattes and this one is delicious. It's definitely on the more sweeter side but the coffee taste that comes through is so good. They use cafe moto beans. The breakfast croissant sandwhich was also soo delicious. I also really enjoy their blueberry crumble pastry. They have seating inside and outside and I've never had a problem finding seating. One thing I will say is it's definitely pricey. Once in a while, I have an experience when I instantly felt a connection to a place or business. This was one of those times. This mom-and-pop shop is incredible! Emily, who greeted and helped me, has the most adorable person with a lively and happy presence. She told me that she is the daughter of the owner/baker, "Louie." He's French, and I can't pronounce his actual name (ha ha). Her mom, Heather, helps with the front of the house. One of our new friends gifted us a loaf of sourdough bread, and it tasted homemade and was delicious so we thought it was hand made by our new friend. Emily proudly informed me that the country sourdough is from her starter, which is nine years old. That said, the traditional sourdough is made by her dad, whose starter is 30 years old! Amazing! Two stars and based on our experience, I think this was generous. I took my daughters here and it was 93 degrees outside. No a/c and barely a fan. We ordered a pastry, quiche and a few macarons. $40. Fine. We asked for a cup of water and were directed to water bottles to purchase. In this heat, no a/c and not even a self service water station? The lady had asked if we wanted the food heated and I said yes. Once I got my quiche and pastry, it was clear it had been microwaved. The quiche's crusty was soft and soggy. The pastry, which was clearly excellent quality, had been ruined and was now tough and chewy. I let her know that the pastry was so tough that it was almost inedible and basically all she said was "oh". If I had known it was going to be microwaved, I would definitely not wanted it heated. They were pretty busy when we came in but the woman behind the counter was both kind and efficient. My favorite flavor combo is almond and pear and I have been chasing a pear almond pastry I had about 25 years ago in San Diego. I recently started working in Alpine and had heard many people talk about CroBean so I was early one day and decided to give it a try. When I saw the pear almond croissant in the case I didn't need to look any further. I selected that and their Mexican mocha. Both were excellent. Everything is dough-y and bread-y so get ready for that (in a good way!). Ie the croissant is less flaky more thick which was tasty. The ham and cheese croissant: just like a croque madam! The sauce on this was insanely good! Everything bagel: nice and thick! The seasoning was splendid. We also had a flaky croissant mixed with a sweet bun. They only make this on weekends. Get it! Wont be disappointed! With that said it is very sugary so get something by else to counteract that. Cookies: if you like thick and chewy/soft cookies these are for you! Honestly some of the best snickerdoodles I've ever had! Rosemary olive oil bread: they make their own bread here! Precut too! CroBean is one of the nicest bakeries I've been to in awhile. The bakery offers French and Sourdough bread varieties baked in-house. Cookies? Well, good luck picking just one from shortbread, thumbprint, biscotti and a wide variety of macaroons. Cinnamon rolls. Muffins. Biscotti. Unique beverages from different companies, and if I remember correctly, Martinelli's apple juice. Full coffee, tea and matcha barista selections. I brought home an enormous loaf of Gruyere and green onion French bread. Delicate and soft interior-perfect crust. The robust cheese flavor and dispersed chunks of Gruyere fully aroused with the green onion. So, so delicious! Next time though, I'll be certain to break bread with a neighbor. Overindulging is a certainty! I also enjoyed the raspberry thumbprint cookies. A lovely, soft dough cookie with a nutty exterior. I brought home a pretty large cinnamon roll, cut it in half for two big portions. This reminded me of my own, and just one is perfect most of the time! Lastly, I ordered a fresh brewed iced latte for my drive back to San Diego. Nice kick and creamy. CroBean is a wonderful place to bring home a little treat for your loved ones or yourself! CroBean. I think this is a clever name for croissant and bean like The Coffee Bean. My sister recommended this place before and kept bugging me to go for their bread but I kept lagging. Well, the day finally came yesterday to check this place out. I was impressed with their decor and cleanliness. Apparently, the owner is French but he wasn't there for me to use my French skills. I got a pain au chocolat and an acai bowl. The size of the pain au chocolat was a lot bigger than what you would get at Starbucks and the acai bowl was pretty good and generous with their fruit. My sister got mad that I didn't get the almond croissant, so next time I'll be getting that one to make her happy. Merci beaucoup! read more
