You got to love a family owned and run bakery. I had two things when I visited on a cold rainy day. I had the round croissant stuffed a top with tomato, a Béchamel sauce, and a mix of herb. The tomato, Béchamel, and herb croissant was excellent, and do have them warm it up for you if you eat it in house. I would recommend that they heat it a little longer to ensure it properly heated thoroughly. It was very good. The croissant portion was flaky and butter, but stay together well to the ingredients on top. The tomatoes were tasty, the Béchamel sauce was excellent, and addition of the herb, gave the croissant that little love. It was good eating, and I would order one again. The cafe latte was good but a little heavy on the steamed milk and consequently the foam. However, it did taste good and offered a good coffee flavor and was smooth. The employees are super enthusiastic and helpful. They bake a variety of quality baked goods and also bread loaves an such. The bakery and coffee shop is a great place to stop, to pick up some goodies for the road, for when you are traveling east or west on interstate 8. read more

I am being generous with 2 stars. The quiche was good but a small portion for $15, came with a tiny sliver of French bread and I asked for butter and she replied we have to charge you. My daughter was surprised with the price and the server commented do you know the price of eggs? Very poor customer service but the younger person there was friendly. Would not return, croissant was stale, small chocolate tart was good but $15 too. Walked away hungry, unsatisfied and spent $39!!! read more

Best croissants I've had in San Diego county. I tend to go for the plain croissants, but occasionally venture out and try something new. All of the croissants are delicious. Randomly stopped by this bakery while driving down Alpine Blvd, and so glad I did! This family-owned bakery and cafe is super cute. The young lady at the front desk was so friendly and helped me out with a few questions I had regarding products. I ordered a 16 oz. iced chai tea latte. She let me know their chai tea latte would be a bit gritty at the bottom and asked if I was ok with that. Honestly, my husband and I agreed that this was the BEST chai tea latte we've had. I only wish I would've ordered a 24 oz. instead! They have a beautiful display with so many different macaron flavors. I just got 4 vanilla macarons, because that's what my kids and I like. These macarons were delicious. Delicate shell, creamy interior with the perfect bite to it. Not too soft, which was perfect! I also ordered a French baguette, which I haven't tried yet. The service was impeccable. She was attentive and took time to address each customer with a patience that made waiting more than tolerable, even though the waiting was short. She directed me to all products that were gluten free and I was able to find several delectable options. I had a smooth and lovely mango treat that was so very satisfying. I am in love with this place! It is my new spot to get coffee and pastries. The drive from Santee to Alpine is worth it for this gem. They have a ton of deserts, and they have macaroons! Which are hard to find in my area these days. Their blended coffee actually tastes like coffee which is what won me over. I can't stand it when you get a blended drink and it tastes nothing like coffee; just because I want it blended, it doesn't mean I don't want the coffee part! They also sell all kinds of breads and oils that they make themselves. This place really does have it all. It is super cute and they have plenty of parking and out door seating. The customer service is also amazing which is rare to have these days. Every time I've gone, the two main gals that are there are always super sweet and not grouchy at all, which is what you get at most places like these. read more

Morning drive to the mountains with the wife and wanted to try a new coffee place on the way. Searched Yelp for some suggestions and decided to give this place a try. The short version: the pastries are amazing, the coffee and tea were good, Emily was exceptional. Our new favorite coffee place in Alpine. Longer Version: Got here mid morning and we were about 3rd in line. Emily was running the counter, register, making the coffee and prepping the food, but still had the presence to acknowledge and greet us on arriving. When it was our turn, she apologized for the wait, although it wasnt long at all and we definitely needed the time to decide which coffee and pastries to try. Emily was cheerful, helpful, and very efficient, providing superb customer service. We tried a blueberry danish, a creme brule pastry, a sandwich, iced coffee and a flavored tea. All were delicious. After speaking with Emily for a bit, it sounds like her father is the pastry wizard, and Emily and her mom run the front counter. If ever in Alpine, give this place a try. Support this family owned and run business, not because it is family owned, but because they serve excellent pastries, great coffee, and have outstanding customer service. read more

So far so good. Today was their first day in business here in Alpine and I think I'm gonna love them! I'm excited to have a bakery here in Alpine! I was in a hurry and only stopped in for a coffee and ended up getting a single Mexican Mocha which was yummy. I think they use the premade Mexican hot chocolate and add it to espresso but I'm not 100% sure of it. I enjoyed it though. They have plenty of street and parking lot spaces. Lots of tables outside and a couple inside. They do need to add a trash can outside and in, as today you have to hand your trash to a person behind the counter. They have cute decor and friendly customer service. There weren't any prices posted on the baked goods that I could see but my friend got a big cookie and it was $2.95. All businesses start out a little bit clunky on the first few weeks so be patient and give them a try! read more

One of the best bakeries that I visited by far. If you're looking for an absolutely amazing loaf of bread or pastry item, look no further! I love the rosemary and garlic loaf that they bake fresh daily. The bread is so moist and flavorful, as well as the aroma when it is heated. There's also an assortment of pastries, such as cinnamon rolls, bagels, muffins, cookies, croissants ....all absolutely delicious. The ham and cheese croissant is one of my favorites and has a delightful surprise of some sort of creamed cheese I believe in the middle. OMG so so good. Pair one of these mouthwatering items with a hot or iced coffee and you're set to go on with your day. This shop is local and family owned who are happy to help you with a friendly smile on their faces. I always look forward to coming back every time I am in San Diego. The quiche is extremely cheesy and not much else. The cheese is good just too much and no other flavor. I bought a slice of the tomato and a slice of broccoli. Both bland. The croissant is a disappointment. Not crispy but soggy, doesn't taste like a buttery croissant should. Taste like refrigerator dough. We tried this place off of recommendation from a friend. My wife and I had the Quiche and it was a disappointment, to reheat I believe they used a microwave so the crust was soggy and there was so much cheese it wouldn't hold together. The temp outside was in the 30's and the doors were wide open and the heat was off so eating inside was out of the question. We asked about that and the girl said they have to leave the doors open or nobody will know they're Open. I would recommend Janet's down the street. read more

The owner who was working by herself helped recommend some of the best coffee and macaroons I have tried in the San Diego area. They were so flakey and delicious.
