Actually regret ordering from them order a medium stew beef which didn't have so switched to stew chicken was mostly bone but I actually got more chicken in my order then my bf large jerk chicken he literally paid 10 for thigh and half a leg [can't even call it a leg quarter] and barely enough rice to cover bottom of container no exaggeration Call them to correct order after phone gets to 3rd person im frustrated so now I rather them just come get it. Years ago I enjoyed Steve n Son's bakery. They were the only vegetarian restaurant two and a half blocks away from me in east Flatbush/Remsen village. Well, the only vegan friendly restaurant in my neighborhood I knew of at the time. I loved their veggie patties. Years later they shut down and relocated, to a smaller place in Canarsie. Titled Steph's bakery. I'm guessing Steph is Steve's daughter... Steve & his kids make really good veggie patties. They are STILL the only vegan friendly restaurant in my neighborhood, now that I live in Canarsie. Same drinks, food and patties. As a vegan, I'm always struggling for breakfast when I don't make it myself. This restaurant has vegan food, vegetarian food AND they sell dead animals, go figure. Anyway, I'm in the vegan friendly restaurant for something to eat for breakfast this morning and the nice looking soft spoken young woman gave me my options for a vegan breakfast. Dumplings, ackee and callaloo. Super excited me, I'm looking at the bakery's showcase of pastries and noticed a little fella walking across the showcase, well roaches crawl, they don't really "walk." She (the young woman in the apron) came from the back with her pretty self and I said "never mind the order, you have baby roaches crawling by the currant rolls" and I walked away saying, "if there's a baby near, their parents are here too!" This ruined my experience. I never really ate more than the patties because the vegan food is made to order and I'm not going to wait twenty minutes, watching roaches pallance across the pastries. I hate to write this review but as I'm sitting here wanting fro go to what is now called Steph's cake Shop, I have to stop myself and remember how dirty and messy the restaurant is. The vegetarian food is always great. Especially the veggie ribs and patties. However the last time I was there I watched roaches crawling on the counter. Honestly, I loved the food so much I stilll got my food ( I know...disgusting but the veggie ribs are so good ). But I couldnt stop thinking about it after. So now here I sit in Brooklyn preparing myself to wait til Queens to hit veggie castle on Lefferts. My rating is more about the cleanliness. Of the restaurant...not the food. Hopefully they read the reviews and invest in an exterminator and cleaning company. read more

So I creating an account on yelp just to rate this restaurant. The oxtail is terrible, the stew red snapper is just as bad. The rice I would give it a 3 out of 5. I mean for the amount of money I'm spending their food is not good at all. I'm a healthy eater but I would eat mc Donald's anytime instead of eating from this place. I ordered the Jerk Chicken and the Goat Roti. It took over an hour for the food to arrive-- and the shop is only 5 minutes away from my house. The only good thing about this dish is the roti skin. The goat and potatoes were one big mush and i am SURE that the food was a few days old. On top of it all, I am suffering a mild case of food poisoning. As for the jerk chicken, it tasted as if they reheated food from yesterday. My husband didn't take more than one bite. PLEASE do not order from here. read more

I literally downloaded the Yelp app just to be able to write this review. I really don't understand why this restaurant is still open. I ordered my food at 11:23 a.m. I received my food at 1:40 p.m. That's literally two hours late. The driver went to the wrong street and then pick an argument with me telling me that I didn't know my own address. Then when he came he didn't even get out the car I had to walk all the way to his car to get my food. I open my food the oxtails with rice and peas and plantains. The plantains were obviously days old and refried. There were only three oxtail on my plate and a lot of rice. The food was not even hot. I also ordered a coconut water thinking that it would be real coconut water but really it was just one of those Goya cans that you can get for a dollar 50 from the corner store they charged me $3.50 for it. I saw all the reviews from the other year thinking that maybe people were being a little bit too harsh but no listen to the reviews and do not order from this place it is a waste of money and a waste of time it took 2 hours to get to me and the food was disgusting I would have taken it back if I wasn't so hungry from waiting for so long I just hope I don't get sick. read more
