I will rate each category 0 to 5 stars with 0 as the lowest rating and 5 the highest rating, followed by an overall rating. Hubby and I are visiting family in Bastrop. I was looking for a local restaurant we hadn't yet tried and I came across this newly opened restaurant. 1. Ease of Getting to the Restaurant. It was easy to find, however, our GPS took us around the block coming up on the same side of the road. 5 stars. 2. Parking. There is sufficient parking. The parking lot is easy to get in and out and there are handicapped spaces. 5 stars. 3. Appearance of Restaurant. It is a fairly new restaurant (open 2 1/2 months) and in wonderful condition. The colors are warm Italian colors, what I would expect in an Italian restaurant or home. I love the concrete floor! The wall decor is mainly Texas related. A little more Italian decor would be nice but it's not a deal breaker! 5 stars. 4. Friendliness of staff. We interacted with two people (woman, Megan and a man) and both were very nice. We were given some recommendations and they were very good. Megan mentioned that they are currently working on expanding the menu. Do the words "crab cake sampler" strike a chord! Yes! Already looking forward to our next Texas visit! 5 stars. 5. Speed of Seating and Service. There was no wait. There were two people sitting at the bar and we were the only party (4) in the dining room. We did arrive earlier than the standard dinner crowd. 5 stars. 6. Quality of Food. We ordered a cheese tray; it was very good! I don't like figs but the fig sauce was SO good! We had three types of paninis and a flatbread for our meals. Everyone agreed their food was excellent and this was a great restaurant choice! Some of their recipes are family recipes! OMG! I wonder if they would adopt me? 5 stars. 7. Beverages. They have a wide assortment of wines, beers, and soft drinks, something for everyone. Megan ensured our glasses were filled! 5 stars. 8. Bathroom. No one used the bathroom. No rating here. N/a. Overall rating: 5 stars! We highly recommend this restaurant! We will definitely stop here again during our next visit! read more

Always a good thing to try a new restaurant, and in Bastrop this opportunity happens only occasionally. Newly opened Stem and Stone, a short description would be...a bistro ( a very good one ), a nicely done remodel of an older building, a little stark on decor aside from nice Texas Themed paintings along with enough space to host our party of 34. Directly across from our Movie theater/arcade/bowling alley, making it convenient for dinner before The Car Club's attending the film Ford vs. Ferrari (good film). Dinner was served hot as ordered and cold if appropriate ( basic guidelines for me), promptly and delicious. Hot wings ...big, caprese salad...generous, ceasar salad...crisp, Charcuterie Board...excellent (maybe? better with a housemade bruschetta? A nice beer and wine and selection, saw a nice panini, but did not try it. Tonight was our first time at stem and stone. Although a new local eatery, they were very organized, and the food was amazing!! Our server, Autumn was just daring. Fantastic Food. The pulled pork was fantastic love that they used local items from other Bastrop businesses my daughter and I pulled out the LEGO's and stay quietly enjoying our time together abs the stuff was really respectful didn't rush us and let us just enjoy the date night. read more

Saw some great reviews on here and decided to give STEM & STONE a shot. Had no idea it was even here in Bastrop and can say we have been missing out! This place is awesome!! Newly opened place near the corner of Chestnut and 95. Stopped in for lunch. Our hostess/waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Ordered the Parmesan wings and a flatbread pizza. The wings were amazing and the pizza was delicious. Enjoyed a nice glass of wine and a great lunch. Will be stopping here frequently as this is a new favorite. Might be one of the best in Bastrop. read more

This is a gem of a place. The food, beverages, and service are all great. All the things I love about small town and country life are mirrored in the staff. There's a family feel and it makes you feel comfortable and eager to come back. The boys in my family love the wings at Stem & Stone. They both declared the parmesan garlic wings some of the best they have ever had. I prefer the shredded pork tacos, but you can't go wrong either way. My father is not big on salads, but he loves Gigi's salad and it is a nice, big serving. The prosciutto and provolone flatbread is, in my opinion, a must try. It's fantastic. Of course, I like the sirloin sandwich, too. Whatever you do, whatever wonderful entree you try, please, please end the meal with a slice (or three) of their Ricotta Torciglione Cheesecake. I love cheesecake, but I have never had cheesecake this good. It deserves an extra five stars all for itself. Clearly, I recommend stopping by. It's really great food served by really friendly people. I especially love the parking for service members. That's right in-line with the kind of spirit I've found in the people around this town. read more

Blown away. Been through Bastrop many times in my life but struggled to find any food that is not fast food and of good quality. Great beer selection but the food will leave you with a wow. The meat is from 44 farms which I personally buy at home and is top of the shelf meat. Highly recommend the Gigi's Salad and the Sirloin Steak Panini. Service also was impressive, especially during these times of staff shortages. read more

We saw that they had everything we were looking for. We were on the road from Houston to Fredericksburg and wanted a non-chain restaurant with a fresh take on the foods we liked. These guys do it right! The food is very fresh and done rhe way you love it! They definitely know what they are doing! Their service is very friendly and attentive but not in your face. We decided to stop on our way to the airport on a Thursday evening. Appreciated the veteran parking to start out with. Staff greeted us and really made us feel welcome. We started with the charcuterie and cheese plates, both outstanding. Ended with the barbecued chicken flatbread, really good. Everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked great. Highly recommend the Lady Bird IPA. Server was more than willing to let you sample beer or wine. Owner came over and talked with us. Great place, we will definitely be back. read more

Had lunch yesterday at the new Stem & Stone, across the street from the movie theater. It was really good! I had an awesome burger and hubby had a grilled panini. Both were excellent! Came with fries and a wonderful dipping sauce, which we are now calling "crack sauce." Lovely restaurant and bar. Several beers on tap, wines and even some sparkling. They don't have a full bar (yet) but a delightful place for lunch or happy hour. read more

Great new restaurant in Bastrop! They have a great staff, excellent menu and a complete selection of Texas craft beers! We stopped in at lunch for our first visit there and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I had the pork tacos and my wife had a burger and they both were done perfectly. We also enjoyed our visit with Kathleen, the restaurant manager. This is a great addition to Bastrop - not to be missed. read more
