I just happened upon this place at lunch time on the way to Fredericksburg and yum!! I had loaded fries with pulled pork and a spring salad with strawberry vinaigrette. The fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and covered with a delicious creamy queso. Absolutely delicious! The salad was equally delicious with fresh ingredients, creamy feta, and addictive dressing. I would come back and get exactly the same thing! It's a cute place to enjoy a nice meal. Service was definitely efficient- our server seemed rushed and in a hurry the whole time but brought out everything we needed.

We went over to Stem & Stone this evening for an early date night. I have really enjoyed their food on previous occasions. Tonight we had the meat and cheese charcuterie board and we really liked everything on it and the price was reasonable. We did have to ask for some additional bread because it didn't come with quite enough. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. We both had a glass of wine and probably should've gotten a bottle because it was a little pricey. They have a small dining area but it's normally not very crowded. They do have a bar area but we have always utilize the dining area. I would definitely recommend stem and stone but if you want any of their charcuterie boards, they only offer them on Friday and Saturday!

It was quiet inside on a Friday evening, but the food was great! I don't know how the restaurant wasn't packed. The cheesesteak sandwich was rich and delicious. The wine was crisp and paired perfectly with a charcuterie board. There were three different cheeses, two different meats, and three different spreads. We loved trying a variety of everything. Definitely recommend!

First time at this local restaurant. The food was good. Staff was very pleasant. It wasn't super busy and it was nice and spacious. However, the most impressive thing for me was that the waiter got my 2.5 year olds order and put it in before we finished ordering. So it was out fast. For those who have young kiddos know how awesome this was. This was the first time anyone has ever done this for us and I was very impressed. I will be recommending this spot to my local friends for sure. Oh and they have alcohol options. That's just not my thing so I came for the food. Their bathrooms were clean and they have multiple seating options: regular tables, tall tables, and bar seating. Come try the local eats!

This spot was on point, I was nervous when I pulled up the menu on the website, it definitely was things I didn't want for breakfast. But walking in u get a menu and it was some good breakfast that Butterscotch Pecan Pancake was pretty darn good. Shout out to the young lady who works there, she ran outside to give me my car keys. I appreciate that!!! Keep your amazing spirit!! This place is a hidden gem in Bastrop TX

My husband and I came to Stem & Stone for our anniversary. We arrived at 5 pm when they open. We ordered a bottle of wine, and some festa fries. They were absolutely delicious! We split a steak panini and the buffalo chicken salad. My husband said the panini was delicious and the buffalo chicken salad was one of the best tasting salads I've had in the Bastrop area. We loved the restaurant so much I have a special order pending for charcuterie boards pending as a to go order for a trip.

Beautiful Brunch -- and no waiting! New brunch menu items include Cajun Latkes. They're hot, crispy, TONS of flavor (not too spicy) and be sure to get the remoulade sauce instead of sour cream. Perfect for sharing! Pan sausage is finished on a grill for the bbq flavor. These guys just love the details. Thanks for another yummy time!!

I genuinely cannot believe I've never written a review for Paw-Paw's Catfish House because we have…read morebeen coming here for YEARS and I love this place so much. There are restaurants you try once because they're trendy... and then there are places like Paw-Paw's -- the kind that become part of your family's story over time. From the fried deviled eggs, to the seafood platters, to the chicken tenders, to the genuinely wonderful staff, there just isn't a better spot for this kind of old-school comfort food experience. And the staff? Always SO friendly and welcoming. Every single time we come in, it feels less like "customer service" and more like old friends excited you finally stopped by so they can catch up with you awhile. That kind of warmth cannot be faked, and it makes such a difference. Now let's discuss these fried deviled eggs. Because respectfully... who allowed them to be this good? You think deviled eggs have reached their final form and then Paw-Paw's comes in like, "Hold my beer." Crispy, crunchy, creamy, flavorful perfection. We start most meals with them because not ordering them would simply be poor decision making at this point. I usually get the chicken tender basket and LISTEN -- these aren't sad little freezer tenders pretending to be a meal. These tenders are literally as big as my hand. Juicy, tender, flavorful, cooked perfectly every time. My adult kids are obsessed with the seafood platter: three pieces of fried catfish and three jumbo fried shrimp with fries, pinto beans, slaw, hushpuppies, and homemade tartar or cocktail sauce. And when I say the catfish tastes CLEAN, my fellow seafood people will understand exactly what I mean. No muddy taste, no weirdness -- just fresh, crispy, perfectly fried fish done right. And the portions? Paw-Paw did NOT come to play. Nobody is leaving hungry unless that was a personal choice. What I love most, though, is the feeling of the place. The small-town care. The heart that clearly goes into the food. The old-school comfort vibe that feels increasingly rare these days. Places like this matter. And Paw-Paw's is absolutely one of them.

Typically busier during the church crowd window on Sundays. Upon entry, someone will seat you so be patient and kind. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. Ordered the fried catfish platter. Plenty of food. The catfish is battered and fried to perfection. Always my go to when craving catfish.

Pulling up to Roadhouse felt like I was about to film a low-budget country music video. The aggressively unpretentious energy was immaculate. The all-dirt parking lot said everything! No curated patio, no aesthetic succulents just straight up vibes and dust. The place was packed at 1 p.m. Our server, Raven, took great care of us from the jump. Rave was very efficient, friendly, and had zero attitude. We ordered a basket of fries, a portobello mushroom burger for me, a cheeseburger, a Philly cheesesteak, upgraded side salads, and, of course, their famous carrot cake to share. Now, let me confess something: As a Californian, I walked in with absolutely zero expectations given the facade. And yet... the fries were perfect. The portobello burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and very satisfying! My friends inhaled their cheeseburger and Philly like they were participating in a competitive sport. Lol. And don't even get me started with their carrot cake. It was disrespectfully delicious! This was seriously the most humbling "don't judge a book by its cover" moment I've had in a while. Roadhouse doesn't need any curated lighting or a reclaimed-wood Instagram wall because the food and service speak for themselves. I drove into a dirt lot with skepticism and left faceplanted by my own bias. Consider me corrected, Bastrop!

While the restaurant presents itself as charming at first glance, the illusion quickly fades upon closer inspection. The facilities are notably dated, with restrooms that feel neglected rather than merely "vintage." Unfortunately, the food follows suit. The chicken arrived undercooked to the point of being unacceptable, the salads were devoid of flavor, and the mashed potatoes--if one dares to try them--proved equally disappointing. I found myself seated at the counter, making pleasant conversation with a delightful young waitress, which, regrettably, became the highlight of the entire experience. Any lingering amusement, however, was quickly diminished by a particularly persistent fly that seemed intent on joining me for dinner. In short, an establishment that relies far too heavily on appearance and reputation, while neglecting the fundamentals that truly matter.
