The ice cream was amazing. I ended up going with the Cookie Butter Ice Cream. The customer service was awesome! The decor was also nice. Highly recommend, will bring the kiddos next time.

Small inside like most BR locations but this one seemed smaller and more cramped inside than others I have been to but It was clean and nice inside. The staff were attentive ready to wait on customers. I decided to step out of my usual Daiquiri ice and try something new. I had a sample of the ice cream Beach Day. I thought appropriate being it was so hot outside. I definitely could have been fine with one scoop but I got two. Beach Day had so many flavors in it and the two scoops in a waffle bowl was plenty. Beach Day consisted of salted vanilla flavored ice cream with milk chocolate flavored caramel-filled sea turtles, frosting flecks and swirls of graham cracker sand. It looked good and was delicious. I don't eat a lot of sweets or sugary foods so by the second scoop the sweetness and sugar overload kicked in and I had to have help to finish it. This was definitely a treat. I enjoyed it.

I see why no one would want to sit down and eat in the inside. We just ate in the car with the windows down to avoid the negative energy.

The thing I notice is that they are very inclusive. They have several nights including karaoke, comedy, drag shows, and various event nights throughout the week. The owner is super sweet and inviting. She made sure to go around and speak to everyone that was there. During my visit, I did order food. I had the chess club sandwich. It is served on white bread and is filled with salami, bacon, gouda, lettuce pickle and onions. It was ok. It took forever for it to come out. People who had arrived way after us received their food quicker than we did. I had to go to the bar several times to ask about our food. I found out that the bartender was also the cook, so that semi explains the delay. I had a salad along with my sandwich. It was ok. I couldn't eat it all because the dressing was not good. I do want to state that it is a cool place to dive into if you are looking for something to do throughout the week. I not sure if the food is meant to be the central focus, but they so have vegan options in addition to a full craft and alcoholic beverage menu.

Five stars simply aren't enough. This deserves twenty…read more My husband and I are food people. We travel extensively, we eat everywhere, and we've been fortunate enough to have some truly extraordinary dining experiences over the years. So when I say that Porch & Parlor may be one of the best overall restaurant experiences we've ever had, that is not something I say lightly. And it started before we even made it through the front door. The restaurant itself is absolutely charming from the outside -- whitewashed brick, Southern, understated and beautiful. But before either of us could even reach for the door handle, a gentleman appeared with the warmest smile and opened it for us. Such a tiny thing, perhaps, but it immediately set the tone for the entire evening: You are our guest, and we are delighted you're here. Inside, three lovely attendants greeted us at the front, all smiles and genuine Southern hospitality. We had reservations and were seated immediately in the most gorgeous, moody dining room. Elegant lighting, beautiful raised paneling, rich finishes -- classic steakhouse without feeling stuffy or predictable. As a miniature artist, I spent an embarrassing amount of time mentally figuring out how I could recreate those fabulous light fixtures in miniature. And then came Wade. For years -- and I mean years -- my husband and I have had a benchmark for exceptional service: a wonderful gentleman named Seth in Birmingham who was exceptional at what he did that we still talk about him. Well, Seth... you finally have competition. Wade is an absolute gem. Charming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and incredibly intuitive, he possesses that rare ability to actually read a table. He listened. He remembered. He made recommendations without ever making us feel "sold." He helped my husband choose a bourbon, shared little tidbits and stories with us, picked up on our personalities and genuinely connected with us. And the timing of this meal was impeccable. We never once felt rushed, yet we never found ourselves wondering where the next course was. Nothing arrived too quickly. Nothing lingered too long. Wade was there exactly when we wanted him and somehow invisible when we didn't need him. The entire evening just moved along smooth as silk. That kind of service is an art, and Wade has it. Of course, none of that would matter if the food didn't deliver. It absolutely did. The steaks were phenomenal, the meal was incredible from beginning to end, and oddly enough, that fabulous bacon rack may be one of the things we talk about forever. It's delicious, ridiculous, memorable and exactly the sort of thing you want to order when you're out having a wonderful evening. By the end, we were far too full for dessert -- which naturally meant we ordered dessert. My husband knew exactly what he wanted. I was torn between two choices, so finally I told Wade, "Go into the kitchen, choose your favorite and surprise me. I don't even want to know what it is. I'll find out when I get back to the hotel." The man understood the assignment. He chose the cheesecake, and good heavens. It was lighter than a cloud, with these gorgeous cherries in a rich syrup whose tartness cut through the creamy cheesecake beautifully, alongside vanilla ice cream that somehow pulled the entire thing together. I opened that box back at the hotel and knew immediately that Wade had once again made exactly the right call. But what really makes Porch & Parlor remarkable is that Wade wasn't the exception. Every single person we encountered -- from the gentleman at the door, to the front desk, to everyone who touched our table -- was gracious, polished, welcoming and genuinely lovely. You can serve an extraordinary steak in a beautiful room and have a great restaurant. But when the hospitality is every bit as exceptional as the food, you create an experience. Porch & Parlor did exactly that. We were told this was considered one of the very best steakhouses in Tennessee. After dining there, I completely understand why. In fact, forget Tennessee. This is one of the best steakhouse experiences we've had anywhere. And Wade, if you happen to read this: Seth held that title for a very long time, young man. You earned this one. Five stars feels woefully inadequate. Give them twenty.

I could drink that bone marrow au poivre sauce it was so good. Second, my service expectations when spending in excess of $2,000 for a party of seven ($700 of which was wine) are a touch above what I'd expect from a chain steakhouse and I certainly expect honesty that what I order is what I am served. In short, my first-world problem with Porch and Parlor is the vintages on their wine list do not reflect what they serve you. They were zero for two on both bottles I ordered and it matters when you pay $550 for a bottle of 2013 Dom Perignon (served 2017) and $133 for 2019 Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon (served 2022). I caught both instances in real time and the sommelier was crestfallen but powerless. Then I had to pour my own wine after it was decanted and left out of reach on a trolley alongside of our table - my server disappeared for the duration of the meal after food was served and never realized she missed out on the fun. I had to stand up a couple of times, grab a huge, elaborate decanter and awkwardly pour for my guests seated around a circular table (ambience is also very nice there BTW). Autogratuity added 20% tip and I added $100 on top of that because as the host I didn't want my guests to be aware of any issues and they had a great time - I covered for the restaurant's failures and paid a premium to do it. I let a week pass to see if I was still bothered by the experience and I was (am). My first solution was to call the restaurant to ask for the GM's email so I could email him/her, one-to-one, about my experience and keep it out of the public forum. That's what I would have wanted if the shoe were on the other foot. After my first call and a long, long hold I hung up. Waited forty minutes and tried again. After a two minute hold a gentleman named Chris came on the call and asked how he could help. I told him the above story, told him I don't want anything from him other than him to win and be successful which, in my view, includes not misrepresenting wine vintages because real dollars are involved when you say you have something worth $700 and what you sneakily try to serve customers is worth a lot less, service aside. Long story longer, he told me (paraphrasing) "yeah, I hate that for you but it's too much of a pain in the butt to print a fresh wine list so we are just going to keep doing that." Fine. Caveat Emptor for the rest of you who order wine there. Maybe just order the Caymus. For me, being rooked always negates any positive experience I may have had.

The produce is consistently high quality, and the overall shopping experience feels curated and elevated compared to most grocery options in the area. The luxe atmosphere understandably comes at a premium, and while the pricing can be steep, I recognize that different operating models create different price structures. That said, the meat counter can be a little confusing. While most items are priced per pound, a few are priced per piece -- a distinction that isn't immediately clear unless you study every tag. I picked up a single filet that I later learned was $25 for what appeared to be roughly an 8 oz cut. Not ideal, but even high beef prices aren't enough to keep me away from a store with this kind of selection. What will give me pause, however, is the service I received at the meat counter. The attendant working that day -- identifiable by very prominent neck tattoos -- was one of the rudest employees I've encountered in any grocery store, let alone one where items can run $50 per pound. Her initial greeting was an abrupt "What do you want?" followed immediately by turning her back to me to joke with a colleague. When she finally returned, I pointed to the steak I wanted, and she deliberately picked up a different one while giving me attitude. The entire interaction was dismissive and unnecessarily unpleasant. On my way out, I mentioned the experience to the manager, and she was wonderful -- attentive, kind, and genuinely apologetic. She assured me she would address the situation, and based on her professionalism, I believe she will. I don't enjoy commenting on customer service in Memphis, but when a store operates at such a premium, the service really does need to meet at least a baseline standard. Neutral, polite, and minimally attentive shouldn't be too much to ask. I hope this was an isolated incident, because the store itself is exceptional.
