Stell'a Lunas pizza slices tasted like they had been sitting in the case for hours. Although we ate there, I don't think I've ever had a dryer more stale pepperoni slice unless it was 3 day old leftovers in my refrigerator. Same goes for my husband's opinion on a chicken cutlet slice. Those were the only options offered other than cheese. The garlic knots were equally stale and tasteless. Decided to check this place out due to the positive reviews on Yelp. My daughter had a soccer game in the area and her team decided to try it out. The service was quick and friendly. This is more or less your standard Pizzeria but its my favorite in Rockland county and has been for most ,if not all of my life. Pizza here always tastes fresh and they are very generous with their toppings. If your in the mood they also have salads, soups, tacos( yea tacos) and heroes but keep it simple and get the pizza, mushroom or pepperoni to be exact. I stopped coming here due to poor service and yet again after a year nothing has change. Avoid this place at all costs.

My first time ordering pizza here and most likely the last. I came in on a lunch time and the place was completely empty except for the owner and the employees in the kitchen. I asked to order a pizza and the owner completely looked pass me as if i wasnt even talking to him. Then came another person and he took his order. patiently waiting I try to order again and he just stood there eating and not paying me any mind. Then one of the employees who saw me from the back kitchen came up and ask for my order. I ordered a Cricken Chicken Pizza, Mozarella Cheese sticks and Calamari. I pre-paid and ran to do some errands. about 20 minutes later my food was ready. I took it home and was disappointed. The Cricken Chicken, composed of Chicken, Golden BBQ sauce, Bacon and Mozzarella looked as if it was rushed. The pizza as per my wife says her slices were too salty as for my slices were didnt taste like there was bbq sauce on them. All of the crusts were doughy (see pic). The inside was too soft as if the did not bake it enough and like I stated, it felt the pizza was rushed. The appetizers tasted like those store bought like it came from Costco or Restaurant Depot. the calamari usually comes in different sizes, however these were all the same sizes and were the size of nickels or quarters. Both Marinara sauces for the appetizers were not up to par. The sauces were thin and had no consistency as if they were watered down. If you see one of my pics you can see the Mozarella sticks are not fresh and were most likely frozen, again like store bought, because when you bite into them I had more water then mozarella. The outside looks cooked well but the inside looks like someone just tossed in a polly o string sticks whole in a bread crumb wrapper. Overall for my first experience was a Methinks not. I mean if you are looking for something quick and do not care for fresh taste, then go here because there wasnt a line at all and not enough tables so you have to take out. For me Ill take a longer ride to another pizza shop. read more

Located in a strip-mall across from Tappan Zee High school lies Stella Luna. I am convinced that this is some of the best pizza in all of New York and certainly the best in Rockland. I've been coming here for years and I have never once been let down by their food. The prices are definitely fair for the quality of their pizza and food in general. My favorite thing to get from them is a plain Sicilian pie. It is without a doubt the best Sicilian I've ever had. Everything from the crust and cheese, down to their delicious tomato sauce is to die for. I base all Sicilian pies on theirs. A side from that, their regular pies are excellent...but perhaps the best thing they have is the Cricken Chicken. What is a Cricken Chicken you ask? It originated as a sandwich probably about ten or fifteen years ago at a small pizza parlor in Blauvelt called Bella Pasta which unfortunately closed down a long time ago. Stella Luna did us the favor of resurrecting the sandwich which included nicely cut breaded chicken breast, bacon, mozzarella cheese and a delicious orange tangy bbq type sauce on a toasted hero roll. There you have it, a Cricken Chicken. The sauce is ridiculous and is the secret to the sandwich. Few have been able to find out what the sauce actually is. I for one had the pleasure of finding the sauce at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere in central New York when I was in college and was given all of the information I needed to obtain it. It goes good on anything you can think of. I cannot reveal that information though. You can have the Cricken Chicken as a sandwich, as pizza (my favorite), as chicken wings and I believe they do it on top of fries. The sandwich is a classic, but I love it on the pizza. You will thank me later! The slices are huge when you do eat in and they put all of the topping on your slices fresh. They don't have a glass casing with different slices like most pizza places do nowadays so you just have to tell them what you want and they go in the back make you whatever slice you want than pop it in the open. The only thing they don't do is I don't think they deliver, but I normally pick up food from places anyway. When you have food this good, you don't need delivery. Last but not least, it's your typical pizza place setting inside and the guys who work there are all great. They are friendly, very approachable and extremely attentive. They always remember who you are and take pride in making Stella Luna the best pizza you can buy. So Stella Luna, keep doing what you're doing, and don't change! read more

This place has been my fave place for pizza in rockland county since HS. That was when it was called julios, now it's stella lunas. It has since changed names (and i can only assume owners). the menu has noticeable changes. but when that pizza comes out with a nice crispy crust....damn!! im back in HS. i will go here for the rest of my life, or until it closes. im hoping for the former! read more

I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so. While I tend to go elsewhere for a Sicilian when the mood hits, I LOVE their white pie. It's so delish! When we get a regular pizza, we usually get peppers, onions, mushrooms with the occasional sausage or pepperoni. They are generous with the toppings and it's always done perfectly. So, so good!!
