I originally reviewed Cassie's 13 years ago, and it has most definitely gone down hill since. The pizza is never crispy anymore, and the slices are small. I don't live local anymore so I've only done takeout in recent times, that might be why quality seems lower. But not only is the takeout pizza floppy and small, we ordered family trays of chicken and eggplant parm for Mother's Day weekend. Terrible. All the cheese was glued to the top of the containers when we got it home because they used too much, and then tightly packaged them while still piping hot. And the flavor, nonexistent. The chicken parm, the eggplant parm, the ziti with it, none of it has any flavor. And none of it was crispy. I'm disappointed, I used to hold Cassie's in high regard but now that I live on Long Island, this does not compare to some of the Italian food/eggplant parm/pizza out here. A friend and I went last night. I lived here about 10 years ago and I remember having great food here. Calamari was cooked perfectly and the marinara was very nice. Tortellini Carbonara was not bad but was more like an Alfredo with peas. I thought the entree prices were a bit overpriced, but then I realized they have family size portions great for sharing or taking home. Pretty solid pizza and good prices! The personal pizza is the perfect size for one. I've also had the large pizza, which you can adorn each half differently and however you wish. Crust is crisp, but not too crisp. Toppings fresh. I am not a fan of their sausage, which is more like crumbled burger meat, but the rest is great. They also have pastas, sandwiches, chicken and veal dishes. They have bottled Coke products that are fresh and crisp and cold! Loved their 20 Oz Diet Coke. Some places sell outdated, flat cola! My order was DoorDash, but it was fast (right across the street from my hotel), so it arrived fresh and hot. read more

The family meals consist of your choice of a family size caesar salad or garden salad, a large classic pie and your choice of a family size entree over penne: chicken or eggplant parmigiana, chicken francese, chicken marsala, penne vodka with breaded or grilled chicken or penne bolognese. let me preface by saying I've worked in hospitality for 15 years, I often pick up on little things that bother me and do my best to enjoy my meal despite those things. I also have never given a review as scathing as I'm about to, but I'm the interest of the general public good, I felt prompted to write the following: Is Cassie's - Orangeburg a front? are they trying to put themselves and their sister restaurant of the same name out of business? this is a place Begging for Gordon Ramsay to come and rescue. they checked all the boxes for a poor dining experience, despite, maybe, that the food was... edible. That is the nicest thing I could say with any shred of honesty. 1. service was horrendous. i could see the staff chatting to each other and on their phones while I literally waved my arms up and down like an air traffic controller without being noticed. Our waitress checked in just once throughout the meal- immediately after dropping food. I hope she knows she missed out on selling 2 more drinks (at least) and that her tip reflected her level of attention. incidentally, I find it hard to tip less than 20% - almost EVER, and I usually tip 25+, but with her I couldn't justify anything over 15. 2. the drinks-- the sangria looked like fruit punch, I asked for a vesper if possible, and a vodka martini if not- the vodka martini came-- no garnish at all. 3. when ordering, a member of my party asked what the penne arrabiata was. The server replied "oh it's pasta" (as if that wasn't clear after it being listed in the "pasta" Section). The person ordering almost said ok until someone else in our party pointed out that arrabiata sauce was spicy. The orderer asked how spicy it was, and the server looked at her blankly. I had to pipe up and suggest she sub a different sauce (vodka)... me. Not the server. 4. A man I can only assume was the owner was occasionally going around bussing tables and talking to guests with his shirt only buttoned halfway up, and no undershirt. As a fellow large hairy man, I get it- but come on! Keep your chest hairs away from your customers during their nights out. 5. That owner also saw my wife, who is 8 1/2 months pregnant, get up when we were leaving and gave her some choice words of advice: "How far along are you?" He said abruptly, even though no matter what you should never make that assumption-- even if it is obvious, which it is in her case. "Enjoy your nights out while you can!" was the advice. Seemed like a great father... by this point I couldn't look him in the eye bc I was afraid I'd go off on how terrible his restaurant was, from head to toe. 6. The place was messy. Napkin on the floor, puddles. Gross. 7. though the food was edible, there was 0 presentation. "Garlic bread" was essentially toast w garlic salt and crispy shredded basil on it. Worst garlic bread I ever had. 8. No ambience. Terrible fluorescent/harsh white halogen lighting 9. Again, I never write these. I even made sure to praise a dining experience I had elsewhere today before writing this bc i want people to know I'm not just writing this to scathe one place for no reason. But this experience was literally SO BAD it made me log back in to Yelp for the first time in about a decade. 10. Probably, this all could have been avoided if I hadn't had an empty drink glass sit out for 30 minutes. Drinks solve everything, let's be real. I will be personally going to the other Cassie's location to ask if they know that this one is sullying their good name. read more

Unfortunately it was a disaster from start to finish. The drinks were awful, our dinner order was never put ii so it was a long wait. When it finally came the pork chop was raw. When the reservation was made we told them it was birthday celebration to please bring a something with a candle. They never did. We won't be back. Cassies has one of the best feels of a place to eat. Brick oven very old school italian feel. Love all of their dishes. Appetizers are phenomenal. Mozz sticks and shrimp for me. Fried calamari for my wife. There pizza is fantastic as the "plain" pizza is with fresh mozz and tomatoes like another places "margarita" pizza would be. We always get a pie togo. One of my fav BBQ chicken pies too and im usually more of a buffalo chicken guy myself. My 2nd time here. The extended family like to come here for bdays as its close to the grandparents. We had family style apps. Baked clams, fried calamari and thai chicken wings, followed by 4 large pies. 2 margarita and 2 whole wheat (yuck). Now I dont blame them, the whole wheat is not my cup of tea. It was made well, but its cardboard any way you slice it (ha!). The margaritas were good. Nice, size, cooked well, decent amount of fresh mozz. I prefer a less sweet sauce but still solid overall. The apps were great. Nice size baked clams, cooked well, tasting great. Sometimes clams are too big, they are gross but these were spot on. Same w the calamari. It was cooked well, super tender, great breading. Squeeze a little lemon and a dash of salt, all day! They give all rings too, no legs. The wings were also good. I prefer buffalo, but I was not ordering for the group. The thai wings are ok. Its just the basic sweet chili thai sauced drenched on awesome wings that should be destined for the buffalo sauce toss. The waiter and bus boy were super nice and attentive. My wife laughs at me but being a waiter in a former life, one thing I love is unsolicited napkins! I called Cassie's to set up 2 deliveries for a friend of mine who was having surgery and we wanted to make sure her family had dinner while she was in the hospital. Not only was the food delicious but they made sure to deliver the food on the days that I asked and at the exact time I requested. I can't express my appreciation enough. I have been to Cassie's a few times in the past and typically go for the pasta dishes. In particular, I am normally a fan of the penne sicillian, which is more than enough for two meals. The fresh eggplant with the mozzarella and roasted red peppers is phenomenal. However, being at home with my family I decided to take advantage of the $39.99 family meal special for pickup. This special during these tough economic times is perfect for any family (including ours of 5 people). You get to pick a salad, an entree, and a pizza for the low price. The garden salad tastes fresh. The pizza is good and crispy and fresh from the oven. And the entrees are a great deal. The chicken parm tastes good and has a generous portion of mozzarella and tomato sauce. It was nice and crispy and a great size for the price. Another time, we tried the chicken marsala. The chicken was plump and juicy and there was a good amount of mushroom sauce. No matter what entree you choose from the family specials, you can't go wrong given that all family entrees are normally $38 and you are paying $40 and get a pizza and a salad as well. I am looking forward to returning to Cassie's when they re-open however for now I will continue to take advantage of the family special as long as it exists! read more

Pizza and salad- a classic combination. Cassie's delivered on that combination with flying colors last night. For around $30, we had a massive meatball pizza and an "individual" sized Cassie's Chopped Salad. Our meatball pizza ran $18.95 and it was flawless. It was served so hot from the oven, that billows of steam rose from our table. Eight big slices with thin crust, excellent meatball slices, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and a terrific sauce. The salad ran $9, and at first we thought we were served the Family Sized version by mistake because the plate was so big! It was a tremendous dish of finely shredded Romaine lettuce, with cucumber cubes, shredded feta cheese, diced tomato, olives, chick peas, and roasted red peppers. The service was impeccable. We were first seated at a table for two, and a server asked if we'd like to switch to a booth. The dining room was full of black shirted workers scurrying around with bread plates, water pitchers, clearing, and delivering. The guys were terrific. The dining room is one big open space and we saw a lot of families with kids there. Everything we saw and tasted at Cassie's was top notch. read more

Ordered on-line for a pickup of a salad. there's a section that says 'special instructions.' I wrote 'no blue cheese'. Got home - full of blue cheese. I called and the manager rudely stated it wasn't on my order. So it was too bad for me. I put it on the order and he argued it wasn't there. Isn't the customer always right? Is it my fault it didn't appear on his end? Why have an instructions box ? $25 salad in the garbage. Customer beware - check your order! read more

I ran in tonight to pick up a pizza and was stunned to see not a single staff member wearing a mask! Three young women behind the front desk, two guys making pizza, everyone I saw in the open kitchen and all the wait staff. I don't care what you think of masks, but there is currently a mandate in New York State and most places I frequent observe that. The masslessness seemed almost flagrant, like it was decided on that Cassie's would be a mask-free environment. I feel sad for the employees who are being exposed to this very virulent current strain of Covid and bummed for me because their margarita pizza was one of my favorites in the area. But I will not be returning to a place that clearly doesn't value their staff or customers' safety. read more

We love Cassies, the food here is excellent. We have been going to Cassies for years at Englewood location, but honestly the Orangeburg NY location has nicer decor, service is always great at both locations but the orangeburg menu has the 'og' menu which my grown-up kids have always liked...ie. tortellini carbonara and the sirloin steak, which are not on the englewood menu. Today, we ordered the Pear Salad, candied walnuts/goat cheese over arugula, fried calamari (extremely tender, the best) eggplant rollantini (perfect, sometimes eggplant can have a bitter taste, but not here) and chicken francese with side of veggies, sauteed in garlic and oil, perfect, not oily, cooked perfect!....Quality and service were 5 star, see for yourself in attached pics! oh and ordered the zeppolis which comes with a side of homemade cannoli cream, reallly very good, ate them before took a pic, sorry. read more

This place gets insanely packed at peak dining hours so make sure you get a reservation prior to your visit. We promptly made our reservation time and the hostess wasted no time in getting us seated. Our waiter warned us of the potential wait time for our food because the kitchen was backed up. Everything we ordered was family size. Make sure you're with a big party if you go with family size! We started off with the calamari and bbq chicken pizza. The calamari was breaded lightly but unfortunately it had no flavor to it. Luckily, the spicy marinara dipping sauce brought some life to it. You have a choice between a spicy or sweet dipping sauce. The Linguine Clam Vongole consists of whole clams, garlic, EVOO in your choice of white or red clam sauce. We opted for the white clam sauce. They give you tons and tons of whole clams in and out of the shell. The noodles were cooked al dente and the pasta sauce wasn't oily or overly salty. Unfortunately, the dish was overall too bland. Although the kitchen was supposedly backed up, all of our food came out timed just right. Our waiter frequently came by to check on us and our drinks were always filled. I guess Cassie's will do the trick if you're looking for some decent Italian-esque fare. read more

My son and I went here the last week in June. The vibe was casual with picnic chairs and checkered tablecloth. They had ample outdoor seating under a large tent. We can also attest to the fact that it was a sturdy tent, because a few minutes after we got there, we witnessed torrential rain and crazy winds. And yet, the atmosphere was still jovial. The waiter and waitress ran through the rain and we were still well attended. Now let's get down to the food. The bread was very good. It appeared to be a freshly made. It was light and had a thin crust around the top. The calamari was served hot and fresh. The squid was tender and the tomato sauce was a fresh, light and tasty tomato sauce. It was not the thick, almost ketchup-like kind. It also came out very quickly. Finally, the pizza was very good. The crust was super crispy, almost like a cracker. The cheese was fresh mozzarella and they topped it with fresh basil and more of that fresh and light tomato sauce. My 9-year-old says: I really enjoyed pizza it had a crispy crust and a thin layer of cheese. The calamari was crispy and had a nice texture to it. It also had the right seasoning. read more
