Incredible pizza. Salad dressing was just a cheap bottle of oil and a bottle of red wine vinegar because the waitress didn't inform us of what that had to offer. So when my southern husband asked for oil and vinegar he didn't realize he was going to be conjuring up 1982. It was so incredibly loud in there that my teen son and I had to step outside to take a long break. The place is a time capsule to when it opened in the late 50's and it is certainly worth going to; but just know if you are rowdy go later and if you are quiet go very early. read more

i love pizza, yet its so hard to find a good slice. As i have lives in the area for a very long time I don't remember ever coming here. Today i stopped and ordered a slice and an eggplant parm platter and a glass of chainti.i love eggplant parm as much as i love pizza. The oizza was very very good. thin crust a nice balance of cheese and sauce and the bottom of the slice was cooked giving it a nice crunch. I would definitely come back for the pizza. my eggplant parm came out in a silver casserole dish with two nice size pieces of garlic bread. eggplant parm is tough to fet right, and this one was very close. Ive been to Italians restaurant that charge way more than double of what they charge here ($12.50), and they dont compare to how good Martios is. Ambiance, i dont think has changed i tne 67 years its been here. classic dark wood, tiffany like lamps old artifacts on the walls and a few neon signs. classic but nice. you step back in time. Pretty good pizza place I walk up to as a detour from my commute. Its a great place to distress or relax while only being a block away from the train station. When I come here I usually get the subs over the pizza simply because its just myself commuting from work. The subs are really nice though I would just the meatball parmigiana 9 out of 10 times. There is just something that "works" with a meatball over other choices. Besides the food I think what makes this a relaxing place is the theming. You got your neon signs, wall hangings and wooden furniture which makes this feel old timey yet distinctly Italian. Maybe time has softened my recollection of the place but this hometown favorite still delivers the best tasting pizza that I've ever had. Their Neapolitan pie is amazing but it's their Sicilian with mushrooms and anchovies that cranks the dial on taste to "11" I've made far longer trips for far less reason and It still amazes me that with world-class pizza spinners so close, the corporate pizza chains still thrive - I suspect the convenience of delivery easily trumps authenticity. Aesthetic and vintage joint that seems to be operating their pizza restaurant out of what was an old school movie theatre. Their pizzas are made out of a fire oven that gets the crust nice and crispy. Each slice a little shy of $3 and was heated up quickly in a brick oven. Service was friendly and the business appeared to adhere to COVID guidelines wearing masks and providing sanitizer. This location looks like it would be a really cute date spot but for now, will settle on just taking a few slices to go. There are some parking spots on the street and it is easy to order ahead and just pick up. I brought my friend to Martio's Pizza for a small birthday outing on a Thursday night. Walking in, it has a nice, older charm to it. We were able to get a booth on the side of the restaurant and every other table was filled. Within the small space, what was about 30 people sounded like 80, but it only added to the atmosphere somehow. I was really excited to try their gluten-free pizza, so we put in our orders and opted for a glass of wine each. The pizzas came out and they looked absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and smelled heavenly. My gluten-free pizza was wonderful and I had to restrain myself from eating more of the slices than I should. I definitely have to recommend their gf pie and my friend said her regular crust was great, Martio's is a must, so grab a slice of happiness. read more

This is hands down, THE BEST pizza joint in Nanuet and possibly LoHud. Worth a train ride or drive from the tri-state area. Nothing has changed in decades and I am thrilled about that. I grew up on Martio's Pizza. The nostalgia is as delicious as their pizza, the family have managed to maintain their own pizza identity and continue to supply the people with what they do best. I haven't lived in Nanuet for several decades now, but it still is one of the deepest core memories for me growing up. The big wood filled room, eating pizza or splitting a bowl of pasta fagioli ... whenever I'm nearby I make sure to stop. Very good pizza, arguably the best around, BUT..... the service is horrible. Waitresses are young, inexperienced and untrained. Waited almost 15 minutes after being seated with menus for someone to take our order. We kept looking over at the 'bar' area where we saw two of the young waitresses busily tapping text messages on their phones. This should not be permitted during working hours when the place is busy. I don't blame the young women, I blame the owners for not training them properly at this service oriented business. They're quick to clear a table but never look around to see if another patron needs anything. I hope another pizza parlor learns how to make a pizza as good as Martio's so we can say 'ciao' to this establishment. read more
