Somehow I managed to live in Rockland County for 43 years without ever going to Martios. I drove past it thousands of times and saw the neon red lights illuminating the interior, wondering who goes to this old relic. It looks like the kind of place that my cell phone wouldn't work in because that technology was invented after 1976. Recently, I began to wonder; how is this place still open after all these years? There has to be a reason. So based on that thought I decided to give it a try. Holy crap!!! It was excellent! The pizza was thin, crispy, had lots of tangy sauce and was cooked to perfection. I totally understand now why this place has been in business since the Eisenhower administration. It is definitely in the conversation for best Pizza in Rockland and I will most definitely be back for more! read more

Was looking for a good bowl of soup on a kind of drizzly day. Came across Martio's while getting my hair done and decided to try the pasta fagoli soup. It was really good- should have ordered a large one. I will return for that soup when they open again this Tuesday! read more

The sauce is so good and they actually put enough sauce on the pizza unlike other places I have tried that doesn't put enough sauce. Staff is always friendly. This is my favorite place to grab some pizza with family and friends. It's a local family owned pizza place, and you can really tell because of the warmth and love they show customers through their service and food. My personal favorite is the wood burning brick oven pizza with onions, garlic, red peppers, and jalapeno. It's done so quickly, and comes out crispy and so flavorful. I remember once I had come nearly at closing to get some pizza for my mom (this is her favorite and she loves a thin crust), and without even thinking, the owner and her son worked an extra 10-15 mins just to give me a hot pizza to take home. This is the absolute best pizza there is. I've been to the famous Sally's a'Pizza in Connecticut. The only reason I accept that it's considered the best pizza in the world is because it reminds me of Martio's. Been going here for 30+ years, and it's just as good as it's always been. I don't like giving bad reviews but i was seriously disappointed and shocked in the pizza, salad and Sicilian slices that I ordered... seriously. The pizza pie looked like it was over cooked and greasy. The Sicilian slices looked nothing like the thick pie crust that it normally is. In fact the Sicilian slices looked like the pizza pie... thin, overcooked and greasy. I had ordered a large salad with grilled chicken and I got a salad with slices of fried chicken cutlets. ..... don't know what happened to this pizza parlor that my family has previously loved but lately the quality of food is poor in comparison to some of the other pizza restaurants in the area. As visitors from CA, we came in looking for an authentic NY/NJ pizza experience...while I can't say this was the best pizza I've ever had, it was definitely pretty good! We ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, peppers, and mushrooms. We asked for half of it to be without cheese and with extra sauce, as my fiancé doesn't eat cheese. They did a great job of fulfilling our request, making sure the cheese from one half didn't run into the other half, and being generous with the extra sauce without negatively impacting the pizza flavor. The service was fast and friendly. The only downside is that this place only allows you to order a 16 inch large at lunch time - we would have liked to have the option of ordering a medium instead. A homely pizza spot in Rockland for some brick oven (after 1pm or 5pm depending when you come) and other italian food. Managed to get the brick oven pizza, got the cheese since I wanted room for lasagna also. The pizza itself was only okay, thin slice that was extra hot and a little burnt at the bottom. The lasagna was good, served in a bowl, with flavorful garlic bread. Could have used more sauce. Service was excellent and I got my food pretty fast. Beer selection could be better though. Growing up in Rockland, I always went to Martio's with my family. I went to Martio's just the other night and it brought back feelings of nostalgia from my childhood. The restaurant hasn't changed a bit. The pizza is still as incredible as I remembered it. I decided to give a combo a try and I am so happy I did. This is hands down the best combo I've ever had. The bread is lightly toasted, who knew toasting the bread to an Italian combo could be so life changing ? It's safe to say whenever I order a combo anywhere I always ask for the bread to be toasted! I ordered the homemade lasagna from here for my wife, as per words " it was pretty good only thing is extra sauce". I think her craving was satisfied. As I walked in to pick up my order I spoke to a woman named Allison. What can I say about Allison? She was super friendly and even said God bless you. Which pizzeria do you even get that hospitality. Visiting the New York area for work and I decided to try some pizza. Walked into a cool vibe with creaky floors and visible fiery brick oven. I believe I'm in for some great pizza. Instead, as I walk in there are 3 ladies all near the register, so I walk to the "wait to be seated sign" so I stood and waited. The older of the 3 began to task the younger 2 with cleaning the she walked to a back office. They all saw me but no one said a word. I stand for 5 minutes and each of them take multiple looks at me and go back about their business. After the 5 minutes another gentleman walks in and the all make an effort to go take his order, but he noticed I was waiting and said I think he's first. The older lady says "no, he's been helped, I said no I was wasn't, I've been waiting to be seated, Then pointed out they all saw me and two cleaned then hid behind the servers wall and peaked out occasionally to see if I was still there and you went to the back office and peeked out occasionally. She then says, we'll let me get this guy first. Even he said no, he was before me. I then told the guy to go ahead and I returned to my car. I simply can't eat somewhere after any type of altercation like that. If they are willing to treat a customer like that to their face, what are they willing to do to their food. read more
