We were visiting Munich and were really excited to try this famous restaurant after seeing so many…read morerecommendations on Instagram. Atmosphere is German and interesting.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had.
We came for lunch on a weekday and got seated right away, no line. But our waiter was extremely rude from the beginning. He didn't come to our table for 15 minutes, and we had to ask him to take our drink order. We ordered 3 coffees, which took another 20 minutes! Meanwhile, people who came after us got their drinks within 5 minutes.
We wanted to try the sausages, but they were only served until 2 PM. It was 2:05, so I politely asked if we could still order them. His response was, "Well, it says until 2, and now it's 2:05, so the answer is no." He said it in such a rude way, there was absolutely no reason for that attitude.
We also wanted half a chicken, which we could literally see cooking on the grill, but he said they didn't have any chicken that day.
We ended up ordering schnitzel with fries, beef with potatoes, and apple strudel. The strudel came first, but we waited another 20 minutes for our main dishes. People who arrived after us were already finishing their meals. When I asked about our food, he said, "Well, it's cooking, but I can check." One minute later, he brought our food, and it was almost room temperature! It honestly seemed like it had been sitting there for a while.
He never checked on our table, never asked if we needed anything, and we didn't even get water.
The food itself was fine, no complaints about that. But the service was probably the worst I've ever experienced.
I understand we are tourists and probably won't come back, but that doesn't mean we should be treated this way. We were polite the entire time and didn't deserve such rude behavior.
For such a famous place, this was a huge disappointment. If I could give zero stars, I would.
