Cask beer naturally carbonated

One of my favorite places in downtown Munich. Unbelievable food and drinks. Service is exceptional. The decor is brilliant, and love the ambiance.

If you are in Munich, do try to visit Augustiner am Platzel. When you walk in, find yourself a open table and grab it. Do not grab the tables by the entrance, walk around and explore, they got tables all over the place and have beer garden, so make sure to find a table that works for you. Once seated, wait until the wait staff come to you, this might take some time, but they will come to you, so don't worry. They do have English menu, by default German menu is on the table. Their food is decent, nothing special vs other restaurants that I've tried. But the experience itself will be worth it.

Great food, great service and of course great beer! They handled our large group with easy. Great place to celebrate

Meatloaf with potato salad and a fried egg

Wonderful and traditional restaurant with a homey and friendly ambiance. Of course we had beer. There are several selections along with full bar. We started with the sausage salad. We followed up with the meatloaf and schnitzel. Portions are generous and food very tasty. Staff is very friendly and helped to make dinner suggestions.

Had a bier inside and they were very nice to seat our group without reservations. Great liver ball soup, cabbage salad, and samples of food. You like starkbier (strong biers?) Come here!! Maximator (Augustina boppleBock) it was amazing the Augustiner Helles (lighter lager, NOT a pilsner for those who know and care)

It's across from Hard Rock and Hofbräuhaus. It's visited by locals but I'm sure tourists check them out for the ease ability to get a table compared to the other two restaurants near. It is much smaller than the hofbraühaus but does not mean it's not as good. The beer is good. Definitely enjoyed the live band that was there. Chicken wasn't as seasoned as expected but it wasn't the worse I've ever eaten. Skin is seasoned and crispy. Our waitress seemed annoyed with us trying to use German due to us mispronouncing some words. This was the first time experiencing that. Typically they corrected us and seemed happy we were trying to even speak German as opposed to speaking English. The apple tart was decent. The beer was good. The curry wurst was also good. Their Spätzle was good. Definitely worth trying if you have never had it before. This is definitely a traditional German type place.

Relatively good experience at Augustiner am Platzl. It's a lively atmosphere and very busy. Our server was nice; said his English was not good but we found it to be just fine. The potato soup was served quickly and was very hearty. The problem was, our server forgot to put in our dinner order. We watched while everyone around us were served their meals. When waiter came back and asked us what we ordered we knew there was a problem. It was another 45 minutes until our food was delivered and the pretzel I ordered was forgotten (yet it was on the bill and I reminded him to remove it). The food was good. The veal meatballs were delicious. My husband had the Zwiebelrostbraten with crispy onions and spätzle. Most definitely delicious and the meat was fork tender. I hate to be a suspicious person but we got the feeling that they are more attentive to the German crowd and less so to tourists. Overall we didn't have a terrible experience but, when we return to Munich we will not dine here again.

Beef topped with onions and spaetzel

This place was terrific. The waiters are outstanding and the food is too! We had the house salad. It was fresh, full of flavor and the dressing was very good. We had the beef topped with crispy onions and a side of spaetzel. Delicious! The pretzel was really good as was the massive volume of beer. If you're in old Munich, this is a must go spot for lunch or dinner!!!

Allgäuer Käsespätzle and Rhubarbschorle

Dinner with friends when we were in Munich. This place is near Marienplatz. It has a nice vibes and this place is spacious. They have 3 levels and the place is almost full around 6:30pm on Monday night. As a vegetarian, I opted for the Allgäuer Käsespätzle (cheese noodles) and rhubarbschorle (rhubarb juice with sparkling water). The food was good and very filling and the drink was refreshing. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Check this place out when you are in Marienplatz area.

Nice restaurant near the church. The environment are good. Foods are delicious especially the German pork knuckle. Five people spend 160€.

This meal was well-deserved after my friends and I completed a walking tour of the city. I opted for the sausage and sauerkraut, which was juicy and scrumptious! My brother got the Leberkäse (German meatloaf), my dad got the roasted pork, and my friend got the duck. All dishes were piping hot and flavorful. Their Augustiner beer was refreshing as well. Seems like there was a mix of both locals and tourists, and credit card was accepted!

Great food and atmosphere. The Schweinshaxe and Edelstoff were superb! We were able to get a reservation with just a few hours notice too.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to dine in this beautiful 150 year old restaurant. My review comes after its closure but it serves to honor the restaurant in hosting my visit. The Building is amazing where the walls and ceilings act as palettes for beautiful painted art. Stepping into the restaurant feel as if one is stepping through a time portal where one feels they are dining 151 years ago which is how old the building is. The ambiance is quite lively and energetic. Although the highlight is the space, the food is also very good. Their pretzels are served warm and fresh with a firm exterior and an interior that melts as it enters one's mouth. The soup is flavorful and healthy with not even a drop of oil pooling to the top. The schnitzel is as tender as it gets. The servers were knowledgeable and fast but it is always so busy that the restaurant should consider increasing staff as to improve customer service. Perfect location right in the heart of Marienplatz where the Glockenspiel is a stone's throw away. Overall, a wonderful restaurant to dine with great food and a beautifully historic setting!

The food was delicious, homemade, and so much comfort food. We ordered a sausage sampler, goulash, and spatzle, all of which I have no critique for. Just damn good food all around. The service was great. They were slammed so it was a little difficult getting the check, but not too bad still. All in all, I would highly recommend if you are looking for an authentic Bavarian experience and want to know how the Serfs lived back in the day.

I stopped by here by myself maybe around 6pm on a Monday and was seated at a table because the bar was full, but told I only had an hour since they were full for reservations. That was totally fine and knew I wouldn't be more than that. If you are coming here with other people, you definitely need to make a reservation. The servers are dressed in traditional German clothes which is a very cool touch. Everyone I spoke to also spoke English. I ordered the schnitzel and whichever beer they recommended with it. I am typically NOT a beer person, but of course I had to try one and whatever this was, was very good. The schnitzel was so crispy and also very delicious. Highly recommend this place!!

The pretzels that came with it were great and the cream cheese scoop went perfectly on the pretzel. One of the best meals in Munich, give it a try.
