My family and I were walking around Leavenworth today checking out all the shops. Some of the items in Stein's gift shop window caught our eye and we went in. There was a wonderful lady in the gift shop. We looked around and left having decided to come back later and get something cold to drink and get some of their cool merchandise. We did just that. We came in and went to order in the restaurant proper. The lady at the counter helping us was wonderful. I asked if they had the non-alcoholic beer at this counter as they do in the gift shop section. She informed me that they don't but I could get it from the gift shop. So I did, and also purchased a t-shirt and a bottle opener. So all in we spent over $60 just stopping in for something quick and cool to drink. We were sitting enjoying our drinks discussing what else wanted to do when one of the employees, Marcus I believe, informs me that I can't drink that in there. I replied that "I bought it in your gift shop". He proceeded to lecture me on how I can't purchase something from the gift shop (which is a part of the restaurant), for a third of the cost and drink it in the main section. I said, "It's your shop, your sale, and this is nonalcoholic beer that you don't sell in the main restaurant." He said he was sorry, that's the way it is. I said "ok, I'll leave. " He walked off. I was sharing omg's with my wife, then I get up and started walking out. Marcus then chases me down and hands me a mug and tells me I can stay and finish it if I put it in the mug. Gee thanks. I had a swallow left. We leave through the gift shop. I stop and return the merchandise. The wonderful lady who helped me is apologizing and is horrified, because the entire establishment has witnessed this guy chew me out because I dared spend money there. She had to get the manager to complete the refund. The manager was very nice and tried to get me to keep the merchandise but I didn't feel like advertising for them at the moment. She also said that of course people are welcome do what I did. Which is good because One-they sell it, and Two-there is no, nada, zero signage saying otherwise (if there was, I wouldn't have done it). So, there is wonderful product and wonderful people at Stein. If you go in maybe ask if Marcus is working. read more
