Great place to hang out, they have a good draft beer selection. The staff is friendly and the live music ROCKS, they have five bands tonight..."it's Battle of the Bands" Great Retro Music by the DJ too.

Service was horrible. I usually come in with my friends, we buy each other drinks. It was my turn to buy the group drinks and when I handed my friend my $100 dollar bill to pay for said drinks, the owner, Kayla, and the bartender explain to me the $100 I handed her was fake because it did not have a UV strip that lights up when a UV flashlight hits it. Mind you I use Navy Federal, lol, and this bill was a 2006 version still in use, I know I checked because I thought maybe she was right. So I asked if they had the marker that checks if it's counterfeit, they of course said no. Ok, all good I just paid the homie instead. I come back May 3rd, 2023, try and buy some drinks hand a $50 and they do not have change for a $50. Lol like girl just tell me, "you're no longer welcome here," instead of your sly crap, I was in the Army, I'm pretty sure I can take it. Anyway, besides her being a weirdo for some reason place is aight only cus the people from Poor Denny's, Embers, Junction and Gardens stop by once in a while.

This place instantly became one of my favorites after just one visit. From the moment you walk in, the whole vibe hits you--the moody, neon-lit ambiance sets the tone perfectly. It feels elevated, a little edgy, and honestly just the kind of spot you want to spend your night at. The music is curated so well. Not too loud, not too mellow--just the right balance where you can vibe, have a conversation, and still feel the energy of the room. You can tell they actually care about the experience, not just throwing a playlist together. Now let's talk about the drinks... because that's really where they shine. Every cocktail feels intentional and crafted with care. You can taste the quality immediately--nothing watered down, nothing basic. They have a really cool mix of classic cocktails and modern twists, and even the familiar drinks feel elevated. It's the kind of place where you want to try something new every round because you trust the bartenders know exactly what they're doing. Service was on point too. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain drinks and made great recommendations, which made the whole experience even better. I came in not knowing what to expect, and left already planning my next visit. If you're in Uptown Whittier and looking for a spot with great energy, amazing cocktails, and a full vibe--The Vandalist is it. Thank me later

He made excellent recommendations, checked in at just the right moments, and created a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere without ever feeling intrusive. Melontini (4/5) - This drink was spirit forward and came with a cute melon ball on the side. I slightly wish it was a little fruitier. Wagyu meatballs (5/5) - the appetizer came with three medium-sized Wagyu meatballs on pieces of garlic toast. The meatballs were delicious and a great starter to our meal. Caesar salad (4/5) - this was your classic Caesar salad that accompanied our pasta perfectly. Fried zucchini (5/5) - I love that the zucchini was sliced and crispy. The breading to zucchini ratio was perfect and paired perfect perfectly with a marinara sauce. Short rib pappardelle (5/5) - this pasta dish was the absolute highlight of our meal. In order comes with two servings, which is more than enough pasta for a second meal for two people. The short rib was flavorful and tender, and the Alfredo sauce and fresh pasta were amazing. Cannoli (4/5) - the cannoli was a simple way to top off our delicious Italian meal. I like that on one end there were chocolate chips and the other end there was pistachio.

Making a reservation through OpenTable was quick and easy, which set the tone for a smooth evening from the start. When we arrived, we were welcomed by warm, moody lighting and a friendly host who seated us right away. Our server, Rashad, introduced himself and helped us choose drinks based on our preferences, which we really appreciated. We started with the carpaccio platter and the black crispy rice--both were excellent and definitely worth ordering. We also shared three signature rolls, and every one of them was delicious. Throughout the evening, Rashad was attentive and personable, making thoughtful recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed. The entire staff contributed to the experience--everyone who delivered our dishes was friendly, and a special shoutout to the busser who promptly cleared empty plates so our table never felt crowded. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. You can truly tell the staff works as a team to create a memorable experience for their guests. I highly recommend it for a special dinner date with friends or your significant other.

The veggies were like the best I've ever had. The Denver carpaccio was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Kyoto dragon roll was good but wish it had more eel/more filling. The rock and roll roll was really tasty. Sushi pizza was interesting but not bad. The mixed berry ice cream they gave for free for my friends birthday was really good too. The drinks were good but strong. There was quite a wait in between our first course of veggies and the rest of our food, but it was worth the wait. The food was really good overall! The staff were friendly and the restaurant is beautiful. I would come back but probably at a less busy time.
