We wouldn't have found this place without yelp help. Such a great find ... about five miles from our campsite. Amazing service, A+ pizza and of course awesome beer! This place was awesome! They had a great variety of beers and drinks to choose from. They have a great membership thing where you buy a mug and they hang it on the wall for you to use everytime you come. The food was awesome. We got the pizzas and made them speciality and they were delicious. Personal size I'd say, we shared 2 between 3 of us but could have done one more. Our last stop on the way back from Traverse city was here. What an amazing week! I didn't want to return to the real world. But alas, we have to. Adulting is hard! Oh well. We have a lot of fun things planned for the rest of the summer and into fall. So I definitely can't complain. This was a very cool brewery that we were excited to check out. We are on a mission to get as many tagabrews as possible and this location has one so we wanted to be sure to check them out. The interior of this place was nearly decorated. I love the red, black and white contrasting colors. We came in and were promptly greeted. We sat at the bar and the bartender was quick to help us with our selections. We chose a couple of beers and sat and chatted for a bit. The beers were nice and cold. Delicious. We would both recommend checking this place out for sure! read more

The Roy Brown is the most well balanced brown ale brewed in Michigan or Florida. The other brews are all tried and true beers that pair well with the artisan pizzas made with house made dough from the spent grain used to brew the beers. Outside seating is a very pleasant addition during the summer. Staff are pleasant, knowledgeable and happy to offer suggestions and recommendations. read more

To be honest, I really didn't know what to expect, for me Ionia is more of a place I drive through than stop. Last night we stopped for dinner and I was pretty impressed, it turned out to be one of the better dining experiences I've had in a long time! The atmosphere is a cool rustic/industrial feel common in a lot of breweries. They were playing some pretty mellow indie music, and while I generally don't take it into account, it really complimented the ambiance and took the whole experience to the next level. I had the blueberry flavored stout, which was really interesting, and my parents had whatever their standard beer most similar to domestic light beer. I forget the names but both were really good! The service is casual, just order next to the bar whenever you're ready and they bring it out to your table when it's ready. We each had a pizza, they only make one size, I believe a 10 inch, but for us it was just right! No left overs, but we were all satisfied. We tried the margherita, Hawaiian, and veggies pizzas. The sauce was savory, the crust was crisp, the cheese and toppings were generous and tasted very fresh. Overall, best pizza I've had in years and reasonably priced at about $8-10. I don't only recommend doing yourself the favor of stopping if you happen to be in the area, this place is worth making a special trip for, if you have a similar experience as I did you won't be disappointed!! read more

Nothing like a well-brewed beer on a sunny day - and SSB always delivers on that (well, maybe not always on the sunshine - it is Michigan, after all). With a wide range of beers, ciders, and wines, there's always time to try a new concoction or re-try an old favorite. I personally like the 100 Acre Wood cider, the Black IPA, and the Irish Red. They have some panini and pizza options as well, if you're in the mood to eat. I come regularly for the food, drinks, and atmosphere. read more

I liked the beer here! I tried the Focus on Cherries. I love fruit beer, so I was excited to try this one. It had a nice cheery flavor that was not overpowering. We liked it so much we got a howler to take home. My husband got the MI IPA, which reminded me of Founder's All Day. The prices are pretty reasonable. Our drinks were $8. The howler was $11. I would definitely go back and try more beers. They also have a light menu which is nice. read more

Loved this town and love this brewery! I guess it's pretty new, but they have really good beer! I got to try a bunch of different beers and liked them all. The staff are really nice and know a lot about their beers and are happy to give samples. There was a decent sized bar menu for food, but nothing crazy. Tried the spin dip which was standard but came with really good fluffy crunchy chips. Everything is reasonably priced too. The space used to be a dry cleaners but I wouldn't have been able to tell. It's got a really nice atmosphere - casual but thoughtfully designed. The best part is the mug club!! I wish I lived near so I could join. It's fifty bucks for an entire lifetime of beer deals. The friends we went with were part of it and they got to go to a rack on the wall and get their mugs with their names on it and drink out of those. The mugs are super cool and a lot of people have joined the club already. I'm jealous. Can't wait to come back to Ionia! I will definitely be stopping by here again. read more

We stopped at this brewery because it was reasonably on our way and we wanted to try something new. For a limited (size) menu, they had a smart variety of food. I ordered a pizza and it was really good. They also had more beer options than I'd expect from a brewery thats been open less than a year. My husband was excited to find an ESB there, I was excited they had at least one 'girl beer' for me to drink. We were feeling just the right amount of social so we enjoyed talking to the bartender about their start up and evolution of beer menu. They also have quite a few local supporters/regulars who were also happy to include us in conversation and make us feel welcome. One of the funnier things was that they used different breweries coasters and wore different breweries T-Shirts. It is nice to see that the beer community in the Grand Rapids area can respect one another's work! read more

Love this brewery. First and foremost the beer is excellent! Lots of different style of beer. They have a lifetime member mug club with clay pottery mugs. I am a member and I love it! The owner is really nice. The staff is great. They have pizza and other items to eat. They have an outside patio. I highly recommend this place if you are in Ionia. Tried to go on July 3rd but they were closed even though it said open till 9 on yelp. There was a sign posted on the door but it would have been nice if they updated when they are closed on yelp since we traveled from GR to go there. I don't understand why they would be closed on July 3rd with the fireworks that night and the Ionia free fair. I'm sure they missed out on a lot of business. read more

Wow! Fantastic beer. I had the Michigan IPA (awesome!), Harvest ESB, and a cask Brown Ale. All were excellent. The atmosphere was, as well.

One of my fave haunts. The suds are more than top notch and Pete the owner always has a welcoming smile. It has been a good spot whether it is the just the wife and I or with the demons. The food is what should be expected, amazing for someplace not commercial. We will continue to visit. read more

Great beer!!! I had the Focus and my friend had the Michigan IPA and sampled a few others. I love the atmosphere also. Staff was very friendly. We both got a pizza and I really liked my BBQ Chicken Pizza, it was wood fired and the crust was perfect. (no soggy crust here) They have growlers and they also have a special where you can buy a mug for $50 and get a life time refill of beer. (that's a great deal if you're local) The menu wasn't huge but heck everyone likes panini's pizza & appetizers. I will be back and highly recommend this brewery. read more
