There are many different and delicious regional styles of BBQ out there. In true fashion, California BBQ is by nature, different. Regardless of where it came from, the difference between meh BBQ and AWESOME BBQ is the dedication to the craft by the pit master, who spends countless hours tweaking and refining his game and steeping himself in heat and smoke to bring you the best noms you've evah had. Steel House BBQ, helmed by Sean Ekman, is solidly on the AWESOME BBQ side of the spectrum. Sean has that 'love of the game' and it shows in how his BBQ looks, feels, smells and tastes. He is starting to collect some BBQ competition awards, but you don't need to see a bunch of trophies to know his BBQ is legit. Seasoning flavor profile is well balanced between sweet, spicy and savory. Killer Ribs! Amazing, award-winning Chicken! ...and the Pulled Pork is nothing short of sublime. Bottom line: Have Steel House BBQ cater your next event. Trust. read more

Steelhouse BBQ. Yummmmm. They are BBQ-caterers. They bring their grills and/or enormous smokers to you. You are drenched in the smell of hickory & cherry wood smoked BBQ as they are cooking it. It is torturous. Truly. Umkay: pulled pork is to die for. I mean it. DEElish. Moist & has a kick to it. Tri-tip also juicy & delish. BBQ beans yummy. I can't say I remember the pasta salad, I was too into the pork. We had them cater our Christmas party this year. They arrived at our arranged time on the dot, food was ready when we needed it. And, it was insanely reasonably priced. Sean (the owner) is sweet & funny and we will hire them again for SURE. read more

Best pulled pork on the earth. I have been blessed to have it. Best chicken thighs I've had to date. Amazing Ribs that are juicy with a great bark. Perfection I wish I had some right now! read more

Sean and his team catered our baby shower this past weekend. We got so many rave reviews about the food and working with Sean was a pleasure. From the very beginning he was a consummate professional and I trusted him fully. He came through with everything we discussed and I really appreciated not having to worry about anything. We will likely use them again in the future and would gladly recommend them to our friends and family. The chicken is amazing and unlike anything we've had before. :) read more

This place caters outstanding BBQ food like no other. I recently attended a baby shower and these folks catered the food. It was to die for. The group of women there were the hardcore type to do much more than jog on the treadmill. And we can EAT!! The ribs were awesome, the pulled pork was amazing. I would highly recommend these guys for any catered event. Professional and courteous, excellence in customer service for sure. If this outfit had a restaurant, I would eat there regularly. read more

I just had this fantastic BBQ this past weekend at a friend's house for a Niners party and DAMN. Just DAMN. This is some GREAT BBQ. I've eaten a lot of smoked and grilled meats before, but this was an experience crafted with both care and compassion and a true love of the art of BBQ. The time and patience for slow smoking really shines through with the tenderness and flavor in every bite of brisket. Two kinds were served - both were delicious! Like meat candy, it just melts in your mouth. The ribs were out of this world - Tony Roma's eat your expensive-@ss heart out! These ribs were tender, juicy, and the bones literally fell right out of the meat as you picked them up. Such a treat. The chicken was amazing as well - blackened on the outside, but not a charred flavor to be had! It was so delicious and juicy, often times BBQ chicken is dry and tough, or rubbery - not this stuff! Delicious and more than adequate without all the other BBQ items on display. Lastly, the baked beans with pulled pork and the bacon gorgonzola pasta salad were a perfect touch to the meal experience. This is a business that KNOWS good BBQ, and takes the time and the savvy to do it right. Cannot recommend highly enough! read more

I had a vision for my sister's baby shower and I could see BBQ being cooked for the guests. I wanted to make the ambiance cozy, welcoming, and just an easy place where you can get dirty eating amazing ribs. Well, I ran across Steelhousebbq on Yelp and took a chance. We definitely won by going with Sean. They got to the house with amazing attitude and genuinely wanted to share their passion for great BBQ. The food was great, plentiful, and everyone went for seconds. His homemade pasta salad was also super tasty. I highly recommend steelhousebbq. We had the tri-tip, ribs, and chicken. Yummers!!!! read more

Steel House BBQ is freaking awesome. Love how they come to your location and set-up and cook on the spot. The chicken, pulled pork and the meat is finger licking good. BEST BBQ I've had in a while. On top of that great and friendly service. read more

Steel House BBQ is just as good as the free roaming meat I eat in Montana (AKA buffalo burgers). Keep up the good work Sean!!!!

Where do I start. The ribs are totally amazing as well was the tri tip. I would usually say I like all things beef but I love the chicken too. The pasta salad is also a total winner. At the end of the day I am a fan! If you are looking to have an amazing BBQ without all the work contact Sean. I am looking forward to the next time I can use his services. read more

Some white dude cooking up pulled pork better than yo mammas! I'm a sucker for big taste and low egos; that's what Steel House does.

I have been lucky enough to enjoy Steel House's craft on many a glorious occasion. Lucky? More like HONORED. I wish there was a way to clone their grill master and have him work in every restaurant in the world. The time spent on the preparation of each dish borders on the absurd. BBQ Pulled Pork steamed in Beer for hours, Tri Tip that could sway a strict Vegan to the dark side (I know, I was one), and the chicken...oh man the chicken....I can honestly say, without reservation, that the chicken is hands down the best I've EVER had (sorry mom and dad). Do what ever you have to, any way you can...beg, borrow, or steal your way to try a bit of this amazing gift that Steel House has mastered. You're welcome. read more

If you like food that is over charred without flavor then this is the place for you. Looked like it might be flavorful but all it had was black char all over. I guess I'm used to REAL bbq that tastes REAL good. Won't hold a candle to Everett & Jones. read more

Love the pulled pork and bbq chicken. I've had their food many times and never fails to impress me each time!

Steelhouse BBQ is BBQ to die for. Great personality and very professional. I can't wait to have some more!

I hired steel BBQ for my parents 30 anniversary, even though Sean cooks outside and it's very casual, my parents party was indoors and it was elegant. We were able to arrange with the place for him too cook outside and serve the food inside buffet style. His prices are awesome and the quality of the food delicious. He is a very reasonable person and makes you feel like family. I would defiantly hire him again. The ribs and chicken are award winning and try are delicious. I also orders the pull pork and tri tip....ummmmm. read more

Hey everyone, Baby Huey here from the Lamont and Tonelli morning show on 107.7 The Bone. I love Steel House BBQ! These guys are the best. They have the best BBQ in the Bay Area. I love their chicken. All their meat falls right off the bone, so good. Not only is their food amazing but they put a lot of time and effort into their cooking. Plus, they are great guys in general, very friendly. If you have an event that needs catering, please hire them. You won't regret it. read more

I was fortunate to win a dinner for 10 that Sean of Steel House BBQ donated for a silent auction at a fund raising event. I had heard about Steel House; however, had never tried their BBQ. I have been a Bay Area resident all of my life and this is hands down the best BBQ I have had from any establishment. Did I mention I am particular about my BBQ? Many have tried and failed where Steel House BBQ nailed it. It is true that Sean absolutely loves what he does and puts his heart and soul into his craft. He was great at communicating while we made the arrangements for the actual event. Sean answered all of my questions and was prompt returning my calls. He was extremely professional and was spot on with timing and service of the food. On to the food... The award winning chicken was amazing! I could have stuffed my self alone on that and the BBQ baked beans he serves. I knew i had to pace myself as there was more to come. Next was the pulled pork that was great as well. It had just the right mixture of smokiness , sweetness, and heat. Fortunately Sean gave us an hour to digest before he brought out the Smoked Brisket. The flavors were amazing and the fatty burnt ends were off the hook. If I were to criticize it a little it would be that it was a tad dry; however, that didn't stop me from packing a bag of leftovers for some Brisket sandwiches. In case you didn't know he lets you keep whatever is left! Next was the Smoked St. Louis ribs. My GAWD they were good. It was the closest I have come to having a culinary religious experience in some time. Not too be left out, he serves a pasta salad that is a family recipe. It is amazing and make sure to ask him the story behind it. I would not hesitate to recommend Sean and Steel House BBQ for any event you have planned. I already have a few events in mind that I will surely be contacting him for. He will not disappoint and will definitely impress anyone who is fortunate to be served! read more

I was lost, a wondering soul, with no sense of purpose or direction....until I had some Steel House BBQ!!! A-maz-ing! Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. The ribs were second to none and I'd go as far as to say that if I ever end up on death row, I now know what I'm gonna order!!! These guys are legit and I'd recommend them to anyone for every event! read more

So my wife's company was planning for the end of the year party and they usually buy crab, but The algae kept the season closed and the owner left it up to my wife to get a caterer for the party. My wife asked me if I knew of any caterers and I thought it was a great opportunity to try the barbecue from Steelhouse barbecue. Thank God for the algae! Sean and his barbecue went above and beyond my expectations. First of all the food was amazing. We ordered the ribs and chicken which came out so moist, both meats fell off the bone. Sean didn't hesitate to show me all his techniques that he used to get this awesome barbecue. Which brings me to my next point, it's good when you order from a caterer and the food comes out fantastic, nothing but compliments from the party goers, but it's great when you combine great food with even better people. The owner, Sean, sat down and chatted with me for hours and we found out we had a lot of things in common. At the end of the day everyone kept coming up to me and asking how long we had been friends, including my kids. I had just met Sean that day, but that's the type of person he is. All I can say is if you want great food and great company for an awesome party you need to book Sean RIGHT NOW!!!! By the way Sean I will take you up on those concerts!!!! read more

Some of the best BBQ you will ever have. A true pro who has worked hard on his craft. Not to mention one of the best dudes around. For starters, have him make you some ribs. You won't stop eating until you have reached max capacity. read more

We had a party, ONLY to eat Steel House BBQ, and show our friends real BBQ. All kidding aside, I ate Sean's BBQ a single time, told my mom about it, and we decided the only way that we could share it with our loved ones was to throw a party and bring him out to Q for all of my friends and family. It was such a hit, even some vegan members of my family were scarfing down the chicken and tri tip, claiming after years of being good, that they were "entitled to a cheat day". A good portion of the guests ended up encircling his tow behind BBQ, just to interact with Sean and his associate, asking questions about his craft, and learning about all of the heart and soul that he pours into his art. He said that he gives "food hugs", and we were all sad to see him go that day; he is now part of the family. From the moment that I contacted him regarding his services, until he pulled away, he was kind, thoughtful, professional, and passionate about not only his fine product, but the experience of my valued guests. It was pure chance that I met Sean and enjoyed the Steel House BBQ, but it was truly meant to be. Steel House BBQ made the party what it was, my guests and I all agreed. He eats, sleeps, and breaths his passion, and it shows. Don't settle for another BBQ or experience. Even if I marry a vegan someday; Steel House BBQ is catering the wedding! read more
