Great hole in the wall.

What a great spot for lunch! Known for the Tri-Tip which my co-worker said was great (he gave me their rub for my bbq) we hit Englund's up for lunch today. He was right. Great friendly staff with a smile. They have a good selection of numerous sandwiches, sides of coleslaw, tater salad ( you know who they call Tater Salad? Sorry Ron White just popped in my mind writing this! ), chips, plenty of drinks in the cooler as well as fountain drinks. The tri-tips are smoked each morning in the Weber's out in the parking lot. Meat was exactly how it is supposed to be (medium rare). The meat was very tender. I wish they used more of their rub on the meat as it's so good I would want to highlight that a bit more as well as a bit more smoke but that's pure personal taste and not a knock on the meat. The roll was great, soft and I loaded mine with sauteed onion, mayo and mustard with some bbq sauce. I have been looking for a great tri-tip place and now I know this is the spot! Tip: It's in a business park setting so you will see it on the left side as you enter the driveway. You can't miss the Weber's in the lot :-) 5 stars.

Tri-tip with everything. Packed full of meat.

I found THE meatiest tri-tip sandwich for around $10. It is loaded with a ton of meat. I ordered it with everything on it which included tomatoes, mustard, BBQ sauce, onions, and I forget what else. I was only able to eat half for lunch but it was a deliciously messy sandwich. Get you hand wipes ready for a quick clean. It wasn't dry and rubbery. This was undoubtedly a good deal for a meal. I will be honest and say if they would have used toasted garlic bread instead of a regular loaf, that would have taken it over the top! How I love garlic bread. Maybe they will see this and make it optional? :) There are plenty of other protein options on the menu, salads, and sides. It is also a small storefront with just a handful of tables to eat at. Most people order to go. I was told they have brownies that are out if this world. I will be the judge of that next time I'm in the area! Did I mention they do catering? Thus the reason why they are closed for all of December. Catering time!

A total mom and pop, family establishment that doesn't disappoint when it comes to the size and taste of their sandwiches. FYI's They have daily specials (check em on Facebook), and they run out of popular items, and they are closed on Monday's. What I've tried: Tri-tip Sandwhich: 6/5 BEST THING THEY SERVE. TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY & VERY TASTY. BBQ'd Tri-tip, perfect medium rare and ridiculously tender and tasty. It's served on a sweet roll, but I think you can change the bread if you'd like. I recommend getting sautéed onions, chipotle mayo and lettuce on the sandwich. It's definitely a BOSS sandwich. It's a huge sandwich, and there's enough meat in it to make this 2-4 meals. Chicken Sandwhich: 4.5/5 The chicken sandwich is good, moist and packed with meat. It's not as good as the tri-tip, but it's still bbq'd yumminess. Macaroni Salad: 4/5 The Mac salad was yummy the first time I had it. Tangy and creamy with the crunch of the peppers. The second time I had it, j think there was too much mayo. That said, this item is good, but could be hit or miss.

This is only 1/3 the amount of meat that was on the sandwich I always eat at least half off on its own

Try the cafe! It's closed on Monday's but any other day of the week it is me and my coworkers first choice for lunch. We always simply call in our order and walk across the parking lot to pick it up. Simple and delicious! Pricing is good considering the size of the sandwich etc. that you are going to receive. One of my coworkers practically lives off of their chili no matter the weather! It even has piece of their tri tip in it! Myself I am obsessed with their smoked turkey sandwich! I eat half the meat out of it on its own since they give you so much, so the pics I uploaded are missing about 2/3 the meat that was originally on them Cus

Tri-tip deliciousness part 1 with avocado and chipotle mayonnaise added to the "Everything" (minus the mustard)

Another day, another Englund's Cafe & Catering visit. I had run some more errands again today, but much earlier in the day, so after having done so I made my way down to Englund's, and arrived a bit after 11am, which is their opening time. Upon entering the shop this time, I immediately noticed something different than going there closer to closing; the place was packed. The few tables that were there already had people sitting there, chowing down on their sandwiches, and salads. The line at the counter was to the door (not that it's that far away from the counter), but all of the staff were quick to go through the line, to make sure that everyone is being helped, and not just taking the queue one by one to the front of the counter and wait for the person to pay. They get started immediately after the order is taken by people behind the counter, and the cutting begins. They clearly know what it means to be in a rush during lunch, but of course, the quality isn't impacted which is the best part. I got two tri-tip sandwiches again today as well (not both for me), but today I also wanted to add some extras onto the sandwich. Having taken a closer look at the menu after my last visit, I decided I wanted to partake in the avocado this time as well, and also add on some chipotle mayonnaise to my sandwich. No regrets with the decision I made today. The avocados were a nice surprise because when I typically see avocado on a menu, it's usually slices of avocado. However, their avocado is actually guac style, so the texture just works perfectly with the meat, and tasted great without going too far into the guac, but still wholly avocado tasting. While the avocado may be hit or miss for some people, I do want to highly recommend the chipotle mayonnaise for those who enjoy an extra added layer of flavor to your sandwich from the sauce perspective. I will be honest, but the barbecue sauce for me last time wasn't particularly my favorite, but wasn't bad. However, after adding the chipotle mayonnaise to the sauce, it felt like I was experiencing a much different flavor profile than I had previously, and the barbecue sauce just had many more profiles to it, as if it was a new sauce of its own. It added sweetness, and a small kick (people who are afraid of spice, it's not bad at all) at the end to bring it all together. I will definitely go with this combo in the future. My final note this visit is really about the atmosphere of the place. As mentioned previously, my last visit was somewhat a bit more quiet due to it being passed the lunch rush. This time, I was able to see a bit more of the shop, and the way the employees interact with the customers. Customers might even be a stretch, as it almost seems the majority of them are just long time regulars, and they all know each other by name, and just had a very homey feel to the place compared to what I was able to experience last time. Overall, another fantastic experience at Englund's, from the food, to the price, to the staff, to the owner; they were all exceptional, and I am more than happy to say that I will certainly look forward to being one of the regulars in the future.

Now this place is the real deal, I totally get why it's got the rave reviews they have. I totally get why my "Yelpadre" Harvey K, after reading his buddies "Yelp Review" went and tried them out. Well now I had to follow suit as to not be showed up. "Englund's" is a total hit and I now see why it has a line during it's hours of operation. The food here is not only a lunch, it's dinner as well. Now without further to do....allow me to tell you why "Englund's" is definitely a hidden gem in Concord, Ca. "Englund's Cafe and Catering" City - Concord Food - Tri Tip Sandwich, Macaroni Salad Price -16.86 Review: I work a hop skip and jump from "Englund's" (Not literally) and on the rear occasion when I have to stay over at work....which seems to be kinda often these days..I since my first time going have to visit at least once every so often. This place makes hearty food with great portions. And from what I've been getting from them, I have no complaints at all. "Englund's" also caters, so when you look on the menu and see "Tri Tip" and "Pork Loin" you should know this place is different and not just your run of the mill operation. They have grills outside....nuff said. Now let me tell you about the amazing and popular "Tri Tip" sandwich from this establishment. The Tri Tip Sandwich is delicious and worth every penny ($9.95) it's one of the specialties they make here along with their Pork Loin, Smoked Turkey, Hot Link ect. But about this one....Move over "Kin..."well let's just say "Other Place known for their amazing sauces and slightly average BBQ"....The Tri Tip sandwich here is better than yours....just look at my picture attached to this review. They load this thing up with meat and then top it with grilled onions, sauces, tomato and lettuce if you so choose....so loaded me being a heafty dude couldn't finish a whole sandwich in one sitting, nice for having a pice for left overs. The meat was warm smokey and tender, of you're a person that gets relaxed after a meal....buy a cup of joe or energy drink after this. You'll be that satisfied. The Macaroni Salad here isn't that store bought stuff, they make it and it's pretty darn good. At $2.95, it was also worth it. Loaded with perfectly cooked noodles and just the right amount of accompanying condiments, it really complimented the sandwich. I other words, it was the "Bang" for my "Buck" In Closing: If you want a decent meal at pretty good prices with a ton of flavors....Come to "Englund's" trust me you won't be disappointed. If you don't want to believe me, ask Harvey K. Sitting right off Port Chicago in Concord, this place is a sure bet for your lunch time craving.

my wedding catered by Englund's!

You will NOT be disappointed when you decide to schedule a tasting with Englund's for your wedding day! There are too many reasons to choose Derry and his team to cater your special day. FLEXIBLE is the epitome of Derry and his team. We went over our plated dinner and passed h'or doeuvres millions of times. We even did a tri-tip slider station at the END of the wedding for those who needed a "midnight snack." The food has an amazing balance of home-cooked flair with class but most important ... it tasted SOOOO GOOD! It's true that the tri-tip is amazing, but so is everything else! You can be confident with Englund's that they will never run out of food - they've done this hundreds of times - they are extremely professional and the team knows what they're doing. What stands out the most is Derry's honesty. You will not be knickle-and-dimed here. The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable for the quality of food. Derry's packages can be customized to your day and you really can't beat his honesty. With wedding planning you feel everyone's out to squeeze every penny out of you - not Englund's and not Derry. They want YOU to have the BEST day possible and will do whatever it takes to make sure you are not stressed. I appreciate this very much and so will you! Bottom line: Derry and team are professional and honest. The quality of food for the price is the best deal you'll find anywhere. You will NOT be disappointed!

I had heard of them before because a friend used them for their wedding, and since I plan events for a living, I've worked with a lot of caterers. For my own event though, price mattered a lot, but I still wanted really good food. After reaching out to a bunch of places, I went with Havana because I had tried their food before and their pricing was very reasonable. We ordered full trays of adobo chicken, lechon roasted pork, crispy tofu, paella, sofrito rice, black beans, corn, poblano mac and cheese, and plantains. I did bring in one dish from another restaurant, Jamaican oxtail, just because I know my guests are big foodies. The biggest hits from Havana were definitely the poblano mac and cheese, lechon, and the paella. Honestly, the mac and cheese was the standout. Everyone kept going back for it and I wish I had ordered an extra tray. What really stood out to me though was the delivery experience. The driver called me ahead of time, brought everything in, and set it all up. He opened the trays with gloves, added sauces, arranged everything nicely, and even put out utensils and labels. I've had plenty of catering deliveries before and this was easily one of the best. He was just genuinely kind and went above and beyond, and it made a big difference. Overall, everything went smoothly, the food was great, and I would definitely order from them again.
