If you're looking for something a bit upscale, there aren't many options in this area. Based on our…read moreYelp research - the photos, the menu, and the 4+ star rating - we decided to try the Mansion House. It's a beautiful building and the chairs are comfortable. But everything else was disappointing. For starters, they sell Guinness beer - but only in cans!! Why bother? The onion rings we ordered for our appetizer seemed like something you'd find in the freezer section at Weis. The sauces provided on the side help with the taste, but they still have the made-in-a-factory texture. Not hand- battened and messy. For the main course, I ordered the salmon special which sounded delicious - cooked in some kind of bourbon-apple concoction - but it turned out to be meh! The chicken Caesar salad that my wife ordered was, if nothing else, a great value because it included what had to be over a pound of chicken! If you're the type that likes sharing entrees, you should consider the chicken Caesar salad. Overall the ambiance was nice and the service was okay, but the food was overpriced and nothing to get excited about.

However, the overall experience was disappointing due to slow service, lack of communication, and issues with the food. We visited after the Lehigh Graduate Commencement Ceremony and were seated from 1:30-3:00 PM. Our server, Younise, only checked on us roughly every 15 minutes. It then took 45 minutes for pretzels and another 30 minutes for our 2 entrees. While we overheard that the kitchen was behind, this was never communicated to us directly, which made the long wait more frustrating. There was also an issue with my order. I ordered the Caesar salad wrap (Julius' Chicken Dance $14), but I was brought a Caesar salad with chicken ($3 up-charge) instead. The server did not offer to have the kitchen correct it or provide an alternative. After discussing it, I eventually asked if she could bring me a tortilla so I could make the wrap myself. A 15% discount was applied, which I appreciated, but the bill still listed the incorrect meal and reflected the higher-priced salad instead of the wrap I originally ordered. The burger was also underwhelming, as the cheese was not melted. For a meal that came to over $60 for pretzels, a burger, a salad item, and one drink, I expected better communication, food quality, and customer service. The ambiance was great, but the entrees and service unfortunately did not match the setting

The good: - There was plenty of meat and it was seasoned well. - There was plenty of cheese and it was Cooper Sharp. - The roll had a nice consistency and flavor. - The girl working the front was friendly. - They had a massive American flag over the register. 'MERICA BABY The not so good: - The 12" steak and a bottle of propel cost $19. I have zero issues paying for good food, but I did find that a bit steep. - The onions were sliced red onion that they sautéed. Wasn't really a "bad" thing, just unexpected. Still tasted fine. - While there was plenty meat, it was packed to the middle and the ends had a lot less. I know that's a bit nit pickey, but it is a pet peeve of mine. All in all I really enjoyed the steak and I'd get it again, but due to the price I wouldn't rush back in or go out of my way necessarily to get back there. I do know food costs are up for everyone, not just consumers, I just figured this steak was bare minimum a $16 steak (if the propel was $3). That puts the cost in the ballpark of Mercatino Italiano and Mercatino's steak is definitely in another class imo.
