It had been awhile since my family had visited Steak 'n' Shake, probably since before Covid. Not really sure why, but it had been a few years. I had been wanting some chili 5 way, so my husband and I went to lunch there. I hadn't read any reviews for this particular one prior to coming there for lunch, maybe I should have. 1) When we walked in, we were met in the lobby area with kiosk ordering for our food, they had some for cash and credit, then some for credit only. Less people contact. 2)Husband's milkshake looked delicious, and it was nice and thick, according to him. 3)His burger and the fries were salty. Husband said that he could have tasted the burger better if it hadn't been so salty! His fries would have been decent due to the beef tallow if they hadn't been so salty. Did someone have a heavy hand on the salt, or is this normal these days? 4)My Chili 5-way...I haven't had it since it was on a real plate or bowl. It was in a plastic container in one of their red plastic baskets when my husband picked up our order. So, that kind of made me sad. Then, I noticed the cheese part of my Chili 5-way had already melted, and had turned into "cheese goop", not very appealing. When I used the plastic spoon to scoop up some chili, the melted cheese was mixed in with it. With a plastic fork, I attempted to get some of the spaghetti noodles, but it was difficult to say the least. I got to the point where after fighting half of my meal with the plastic fork and the plastic spoon , I gave up on eating it. I was very disappointed. 5) If you get a fountain drink, you have to scan your receipt to turn on the fountain drink machine for ice and the sodas. Since I didn't fill it up all of the way, I stood there for a moment to let the bubbles go down. Then, I had to rescan the receipt to finish filling the cup up. 6) It was kind of quiet in there, maybe 10 or so patrons, when we were there. Plenty of room at the tables. We ordered a plain double cheeseburger with fries deal. I upgraded this deal for $1.50 more to get larger fries. We also ordered 3cups if Chilli. Forced because a bowl was not available. They were approx 3.75 each. Upon receipt on the drive home I opened the bag to grab a couple of fries for the ride home. To my dismay my fingers hit the cardboard box and air. Way underfilled see the Pic attached. Took a picture and closed the bag to keep the little bit to eat with our meal. Once home we discovered the Chilli containers were not filled. A good 1/2 to 3/4 inch to the top of the small container. Comparable to our box of lacking fries. Disappointing to pay nearly $12 for a not even a bowl of Chilli combing all 3 cups. Open by cheeseburger to find mustard and pickles and onion!!! Yuck! I hate pickles and mustard. Now my tolerance has run out. I called the Viera Store to be greeted by a very abrupt male. He seemed to not want to hear any of my complaints and hastily offered to refund back to card amount. I asked if he could do this on my gift card that was used. He said yes! Again with an attitude. I said great. And rhen asked if he didnt think some sort of apology that a simple sorry. He snapped back something quickly and hung up NOW 4 DAYS LATER. NO REFUND! This is such a poorly run location. I grew up on SteaknShake and out of approx 7 trips over the last 2 years I would say 6 were not great experiences. This owner / manager has got to go!! I used to eat this food 1 to 3 times a month. The restaurant has really been cleaned up! We haven't been in years because it was so bad. But we were intrigued by the " beef tallow fries". Ordered by the kiosk inside & ate inside. Visited steak and shake with my family today and honestly I had not been in many years. I was encouraged to go and try the beef tallow fries. They have changed the format of the restaurant since my last visit and you have to order on a touch screen and then grab your drink and find a seat. They called our name when the food was ready which was prompt. The food was delivered hot and fresh and I found the experience to be light years better than I had recalled from the past. The French fries were hot, fresh and delish. I also ordered a double cheese and it was delicious as well. My husband and as pleased with his burger and fries and my daughter enjoyed her grilled cheese and fries along with her chocolate milk shake. We pretty much cleaned our plates and grabbed drink refills before we left. The location was clean. The staff was attentive and helpful and the manager checked on us. I highly recommend dining in at this location and checking out the fries which are now cooked in beef tallow. Our visit was way better than I expected so much so I downloaded the app and know that we will be back. There is nothing I can recommend for change. read more

Drive thru service was terrific for a Saturday. Staff was friendly, prices were actually very reasonable and the food was better than expected. Not sure what all the negative reviews for because it was nothing of the sort. The only thing I would say about the waitressing staff complaints is perhaps they have to deal with all the Viera high school kids so I could understand why they wouldn't exactly be as hospitable. Spending over $20 for two meals you would think you would actually get halfway decent food and good service. I will say the guy at the window was kind, but other than that absolute trash food. The drinks were basically carbonated water, the burgers were drenched in sauce/ grease, absolutely no care in preparing the food. PSA: Parents stop Sending your kids to The Avenues in Viera, the Steak N Shake in the Avenues night crew is LOCKING the doors on them and showing the Pictures of Monkeys and the word SLAVE! I sent Serenity and Her Bestfriend to order milkshakes on the inside because I had too many orders for the drive thru, My daughter and her friend come running back to the car saying the workers slammed the doors in their faces pointing to a sign that said "No minors on the inside w/out adult" and showed them the word Slave on their phones and started laughing! My food and milkshake was made and was sitting on the counter. When the staff members that showed them the phone with the word Slave saw that my baby and her friend were with the same car in the drive thru they "system" conveniently went down and stopped taking orders and everyone went to running to the back of the store and no "manager" was on duty. While waiting for the police other black kids came up to us saying they did that to us too, the little boys said they showed us pictures of a monkey and started making monkey noises at us in total 7 kids stated the 2 to 3 staff members said something racial to them and the other people they were with throughout the night! I came into steak n shake in 2023, and ordered a burger, and found a cat hair in it. I was shocked and asked for another one because, im not gonna eat a burger that I just found cat hair in. I asked for another one and THAT ONE HAD A CAT HAIR!!! They made me another one after and wow, another one, and I didnt eat it. After that, earlier this year was the first time I came back after that... and I got my burger and it was extremely seasoned. It was too much seasoning for me. There is no dining room service, which includes no cleaning of the dining room. You order and pay from a kiosk. Then they call your name, and you pick up food at a counter and get your own drinks. When we first got there, we saw someone cleaning a table, so I thought the guy worked there and went ahead and ordered our food because we were in a hurry and had to get back to the hospital due to a relative staying there. Nope, that guy was a customer! I even gave him a 10% tip, or so I thought! We got our food okay, and it was fresh, hot, and good. However, we also had to clean our own table. As we sat there, we realized there are about 2 people working there. A haired manager ran through briefly to pick trash off the floor, and then he was gone. While the food was fine, I would never go back. If the dining room is basically never cleaned and there is hardly anyone working there, it makes me suspicious that the same lack of cleanliness is going on in the kitchen. We arrived very late at night in Melbourne, and went with a recommendation to grab a bite at this location. It was only a few minutes walking distance. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived, so we scored a booth. I loved the retro décor and it reminded me of 90210 or Happy Days (is that too far back for some of you?) ... lol My husband chose the Jalapeño Crunch Steakburger 'n Fries and I decided on the Bacon 'n Cheese Double Steakburger 'n Fries. The patties were very thin, and I have to say, I'm not a fan of skinny fries. The burgers tasted okay, but I loved the onion rings. I was recently her with my friend we ordered to go shakes with no whip or cherry then 15 minutes later we got them with whip and cherry and hers was half filled. So we politely asked for a new one then 20 minutes later someone said are you waiting for something in a very rude tone and we said yes a new chocolate shake without whip then she put up a fight and finally 5 minutes later she finally got a decent shake with horrible service. read more

I have to say that this may have been the worst Steak n Shake franchise location I have ever been in. The store does not have table service or human interaction for ordering, which is fine with me. But when the ordering terminal malfunctions and no human is available to fix it, it's frustrating. Foregoing that, the quality of the food is what matters, and the food was just not very good. I ordered a frisco melt with fries, but the burger was luke warm, the cheese was cold and unmelted, and the sauce was everywhere except on the burger. The fries were hot and tasted good, but had an entire section about the size of a silver dollar that was cold and wet for reasons that I would prefer not to speculate about. A great place to stop for a steak-burger I have not visited this site for many months and did not know what to expect. It is located at the entrance to the Avenues at Viera. It can be a little tricky to get to since the entrance is close to a busy intersection. There is parking around the restaurant and in the adjacent parking lots if those spaces are full. Compared to pre-covid times, this has changed a great deal. You enter and order on one of 4 computer screens. Ordering was simple and straightforward but there was no waiter or waitress to take or deliver your order. It seems cleaner and quicker this way. Our order was out within 5 minutes of our sitting down. They call your number and you pick it up. The staff was very friendly and answered any and all questions. One even came out to help a person order on the touch screens. It is the cleanest I have ever seen the restaurant and the food was, as before, excellent. The prices were reasonable. We got two hamburger meals for $12. Overall a great experience that I highly recommend for anyone in the area that wants a delicious meal in a clean restaurant at a good price. Enjoy! read more

Store is dirty, floors sticky, table's dirty. Mold on the ceiling. Staff was rude. No customer service. They should take the Shake out of the name since they had no milkshakes. You have to order on a kiosk, if you have a question about anything forget about getting help. The employees never acknowledge the customers. They don't even bring the food to you. They lay the food on the counter and walk off for you to come get it yourself. The Food was cold After all that they ask if you want to leave a tip. We will no return to Steak and Shake. Currently, of the two Steak and Shakes in Brevard County, this one is definitely the better of the two. Though the food is on par with just about any other Steak and Shake I have eaten at, the service at this one is probably the best I have experienced in quite some time. The food is burgers galore or all shapes and sizes with a menu that rounds out with some salads, chicken sandwiches, chili and pasta. Of course there are the shakes, which is the main draw, and it always hits the spot after a dinner our at this establishment. Back to the service - normally Steak and Shakes are notorious for bad or slow or both bad and slow service, but me at this location, it is way better than what I have experienced around Florida. There burgers are juicy and adjustable weather u want pickles, lettuce, or what not, u can have it. I love getting the grilled onions added, it's worth the extra $1. The fries are thin and crispy but can be upgraded to chilli cheese fries if u order the chili and cheese dip separately. I recommend the oreo milkshake. And the onion rings are definitly better than the fries. Price wise its definitely gotten pricey a large fry chilli and cheese cost $12. The burgers are aound $5-6. The dining area was empty and 1 other couple were at the ordering kiosk, having difficulties with the machine. I ordered a burger, fries & shake. When my order finally arrived, with a great huff from the server who behaved as if she worked a double shift, tho the place was empty), it was missing my milk shake. The burger had mayo - I asked for no mayo, I asked for pickles, it came with no pickles. Girl brought me shake and pickles, after I interrupted her texting on her phone. Came in with my children for lunch because I've heard good things about this franchise, but when we arrived I asked our seater for a trash can to toss a cup and because I couldn't find one any where and she said all the trash cans are in the rest room.. Really!! I said what about food trash and again she pointed me to the restroom.. She was nice and sat us ,but everything was dirty and greasy . The seats were sticky and the high chairs were just gross. I was surprised because Viera is such a nice place .... My family went to Steak and shack on Sunday Well no one said hello or sat us down. We sat our selfies down. Then a few minutes later the waitress comes over and gets our order. Now I went to the ladies bathroom. Well it stinks just like the one in Merritt Island. The bathrooms are disgusting. There was shit all over the tile in the ladies bathroom.
