We went to the Steak n Shake in Troy, sat in line for over an hour (with only 8 or 9 cars in line), finally got our order. Looking through the order we found it missing two items and found two items made wrong. I understand that mistakes happen, but all those mistakes in an order we had to wait in line for over an hour for, I'll not go back there again. read more

Checked their website to confirm they were open. It said open 24 hours but when we arrived they were closed. Hand written "closed" signs on the drive-though and door looked like they were written by a three year old. Should have heeded other reviewers comments. Good chain but this place has issues.... read more

Was in line at drive up window 10 mins got to speaker I was told they closed at 8 it was 8:01. Manager told me I should have gotten there sooner read more

This has to be the WORST place to eat. I ordered a taco salad after about 25 minutes it showed up with what looked like the left over scarps on the grill! No kidding!!! I was so hungry I started eating it just to find the hull of a head of lettuce! To be sure I let the manager know how dirty her place was and about the food, she could care less! No I am sorry nothing, she walked away! After spending over $54.00 for all of us, we should have went next door. Even McDonalds would have been better. Denice Thompson read more

Ok so we came here on a Friday night now it was busy I get that .....the food came fairly quickly for how busy it was ...the shakes took about an hour and a half and we got 4 different receipts because the waiter didn't know how to do the payment( in the end we just took the cheapest one and payed that) but mostly bull shit service read more

Worst drive thru wait ever!! The night we stopped they were under staffed and the drive thru only had two cars in front of me and it took about 30min. When I got the food it was cold and I had to walk inside. You would think after all that, there would be a sorry or discount but no. The cook was playing on his phone and I finally got him to cook a fresh and hot sandwich. Steak and Shake is good but not at this location. read more

This is the worst SnS I have ever been to. The service sucks, the food is cold and it took 40 minutes to get seated. Will never be back!!

Avoid this place if you are looking for decent tasting meal and service. Truly a BAD dining experience even for fast food. No utensils, milkshake was not brought to us, I never got the cookie I was supposed to get, and food was cold. The floor next to our table was covered in fries and napkins. We left half of our meals on the plates and checked out. Manager did not even seem to care that we did not get all the food we ordered, let alone utensils, no refills, and food was cold. Whomever owns this franchise location had better review whether they want to continue to be in the restaurant business. So far your location has a two star rating on Yelp. I just gave you one star. read more

My family and I stopped in for supper and were seated right away. I had sweet tea and the jalapena steakburger. The burger was outstanding and our waiter,Steven W.,brought my tea refill without even having to ask! Plus the kids ate free! Awesome meals and great experience. read more

There should be a zero star option. I'm a patient person but when I'm not even acknowledged as I walk in the door and stand for 20 minutes waiting to be seated. It was not busy, and there were 3/4 tables that were full of dishes and trash from previous patrons. This establishment goes down hill more and more every time I forget and try to come again read more

Had the frisco burger. Its always my favorite. And the parmesan fries are yummy. Its a good tasting place to eat and in the budget.

Food is good, when you finally get it. Milkshakes are flavorful, when they are finally made. Chili is flavorful as I like it, when It eventually gets to my table. Then I notice there is not nearly as much on my plate as is shown in the picture in the menu. So....I no longer go to S &S. Disappoint me once, shame on you! Disappoint me twice, shame on the manager, servers, and conversationalists behind the counter. read more

A good value and the burgers are tasty, but it is not heart healthy so I only eat there about once a month. Small portions are okay and the low prices are great. read more

First time at steak n' shake ever because I live in San Diego and it took 45 minutes for a milkshake

Took forever. Only one cook and the workers did not look like they were even trying very hard.

The food wasn't bad, but the place it's self is dirty. I watched a girl take a dirty cloth out of her pocket, wipe a table, put it back into her pocket and she did this several times. The servers socialize with each other and aren't very professional. They are loud and obnoxious to say the least. I wouldn't return or suggest this place to anyone. read more

This has got to be the worst Steak 'n Shake I have ever eaten at. Love the food but the service at this location is always a mess. Seems like their is some type of issue every time I eat here. read more

The burger here is decent. The shoelace fries reminded me of fries from Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steak Burgers. The drive-through service is fast. A good choice for a quick-bite. read more

Food tasted good, fires were a little cold. Wait times were a little lengthy but nothing to awful. Order was messed up, but nothing too large to cause a fuss over. However our server had seen us twice. Once to take our order, and another time to bring us our food, that was it. read more

24 hr has always been a plus, love the mushroom steak burgers, the shakes are unique and yummy. I love the steak fries too, with chili sauce over them. read more

Awful service and always waiting on shake's for way too long (At least an hour).

I waited for my food for over an hour and the service was terrible. I wouldn't go here. The burgers are also frozen and the people in the back dilly dally. read more

I love Steak n Shake but this restaurant needs some serious work! The food itself was good. The service was beyond slow. Many people turned around and left because they couldn't get seated even though the restaurant was not close to being full. We ate our entire meals before our shakes were ever served and they put them in to go cups because they probably knew we wouldn't be sticking around any longer than the hour we had already been there. No one was busing tables. One table hadn't been bussed the entire time time we were there. The people next to us were seated at a table with juice or pop all over under the chairs. The bathroom was dirty. The paper towel was on top of a stall. There was dirt all over the floor. It was disgusting. Find a different place to eat in Troy! read more

My girlfriend always told me steak and shake was a good place to eat. She said their food was amazing. So after our trip from Tennessee back to Michigan we decided to stop there and I would try it. After going thru the drive thru the customer service was not so good. The lady over the speaker had an attitude because we took too long. It was a lot to take in because I didn't know what to order but if I ever stop around there I would definitely stop and eat burger king or Culver's a few exits down. All it took was one bad first impression. Never coming back nor any other Steak and Shake places. read more

The food is good and the service is always great. However, bring a jacket. The manager is a nutcase and sets the thermostat to the mid 50's and then locks the thermostat so that no one can change it but her. I'm not sure the food and service are worth freezing for. I'm always warm, and rarely wear even a sweater, so if I'm complaining, it's really too cold. read more

Went to Steak and Shake tonight after work to get a burger and fries not happy at all first it takes 1/2 hour to get our food with only 2 cars in front of me then I get up to the window and the lady there is extremely rude i finally get my food and come home to eat it I realized they forgot my lemonade then I go to eat my burger and their is onions on it I specifically asked no onions so I try to call the restaurant and no one picks up so I call again and again and again still no pick up tired of this place messing up my food doubt I'll ever return again read more

Piss poor service! My friends and I went one day after school and we were sat instantly however after waiting 25 minutes our server took our order then disappeared. We sat there for 40 minutes and then our food appeared on the window it sat there for 15 minutes until another waitress brought it out. We had two screw ups with our checks and our waitress had to be coaxed into coming out of her office by 3 different people. She said she had "manager stuff" like that's an excuse. We had no discount or anything for a disgusting wait and my friend had to stop me from cussing them out or from dinning and dashing because everyone there is horrible. If my waitress was the manager and I was the owner I'd burn the whole place to the ground. A top that I emailed the higher ups and they did jack shit for me. read more

Service was awesome! Food was delicious! Very busy family friendly place! Good prices!

Worst steak and shake ever . While the service isn't rude , they seem to have zero idea about their menu . The drive thru regularly takes 30-45 min to go through and my food is always wrong . Today they screwed up all sandwiches. They did however get my fries correct ...... if you want Steak 'n Shake I suggest no choosing this one . read more

I always liked the sandwiches and most of the drinks here. They were reasonably priced and you still got table service. My biggest gripe are their new shakes. I don't believe they even have ice cream in them any more. Instead they are made out of some kind of flavored glop that is reconstituted with milk. Most of the time they aren't even cold. If they are going to reopen, please bring back real milk shakes with real ice cream. I mean, you feature "Shake" in your name. Let's offer something you can be proud of. read more

Holy. Smokes. Went in and ordered 4 shakes to go. That was it. 10 minutes in line and TWENTY MINUTES waiting on carry out shakes. We were the only people at the counter, it wasn't at capacity, drive thru empty when we left. No reason we could see why it took so long. read more

Sunday 6-25 Was at S&S ordered the regular/original. The service was very slow-busy and it took better than 45 minutes for my order to be set in front of me. When it arrived the fries were under cooked greasy and cold. The burger was cold and greasy. In short the food was not fit for man or beast. I paid the bill for $6.18 because I would not stick the server. I left the food on the table without taking one bite of the burger. What they might have done with it from there I do not know. I WILL NOT RETURN!!!!!!!! read more

Service is usually always slow when we go in there but tonight's service was horrible. Asked for crackers for daughter which we never got, took over 40 minutes to get food, all our orders were wrong, never got refills, and no one seemed particularly apologetic. read more

This restaurant had you waiting for a table over 15 minutes. When we got seated it was more than an hour before we got our food. Our waitress could not remember anything and acted spaced out. When our food finally came it was cold and the order was wrong. I got a cold sad single cheese burger with nothing on it. I order it with everything but lettuce. My grand daughters chicken was cold. I was not suppose to get fries since I only ordered a sandwich. When we left we waited more than 15 min for someone to cash us out. Another gentleman was there even longer. I finally Yelled anyone want our money or was lunch free? Finally about 5 minutes later someone showed at the register. Never said how was your meal or thanks for coming nothing. Had a real attitude. I have found bad service and bad fool at all the Steak and Shakes I have gone to in the last couple of years. In state and out. read more

This Steak and Shake is just off highway 75. It was very busy, but we were seated right away. Our waitress, Chrissy, was wonderful! The store was efficient and clean. The food was great and so reasonable! We will be back again! read more

My husband went in to the Troy, OH location about 3 weeks ago around 5:10 am and wanted to order breakfast and was told they don't serve until 6 am. (Website states 12 midnight - 11:00 AM for breakfast). He left and went to McDonalds for breakfast. About 2 weeks ago we both went in and stood and stood and no one seemed to want to seat us (there were about 4-5 employees). They were mopping the floors and it stunk to royal heaven (possibly mops needed to be cleaned and rinsed out once in awhile). We left and went to Frisch's. Today we were there and got seated after a couple of minutes. Took at least 10 minutes to place order although there were probably about 6-8 employees working at the time and it was not very busy. The hot dog buns were sort of hard (not toasted or warmed up). We ordered 2 glasses of water and were charged 21 cents tax on each!!! When we got ready to leave we stood by cashier area for at least 10 minutes and no one seemed to want to take our cash so we just placed it on the counter and left. It wasn't worth waiting to get our 50 some cents back. This use to be the greatest place to eat prior to Steak N Shake firing this one lady (I believe her daughter also worked at this location.) that was so great and drew in a room full of customers. She usually knew what you wanted to order when you walked in the door. Since her departure over a year ago this location has really went downhill. No one seems to care about customers. They really need customer service training. read more

Have been here two or three times. Always feel like I'm over paying for what I get. Always left waiting to order and on one occasion ordered and was forgotten for a hour. We eventually got food but that isn't good when you are looking for quick lunch. Place is very slow always training new help and a bit dirty. Always busy though. I really have no idea why. read more

We always enjoy stopping at Steak and Shake both at home and when we travel because we love the food and our favorite shakes BUT why does management insist on having the a/c down soooo low??! It is beautiful outside and we walk in here and it is freezing, so much we skipped the shakes, not a good way to sell something cold. If they offered outside seating then it would have been perfect. Our waitress was very nice and the service fast so we enjoyed that part of the trip. read more

Love Steak 'n Shakes shakes fries and burgers! However I left this one after I almost fell on the nasty floor in the dining area. We stood for over 10 minutes looking at empty, dirty tables. I could see 4 people standing talking in the back and one guy actually working. When we finally started toward a table my foot slid on the floor. I left. I've been here before and it was dreadfully slow due to it being packed. So if you're zipping down I-75 at 2 am service may not be am. Otherwise I'd find somewhere else. read more

Traveled through the Troy Ohio area on my way south several times. Was a good stopping point for a burger and shake. Always seemed to have the pleasure of having a young lady named Emilee take care of us. She was always pleasant and wore a beautiful smile, although sometimes she was so extremely busy doing just about everything in the restaurant we would not have the opportunity to enjoy a conversation. Stopped by again on our through Troy recently, and was so very disappointed to learn that she was no longer there, and boy could we tell a difference! The service (and food) was terrible, and our waitress was almost completely non-existent! Obviously the lack of training or proper management is needed in this place. I guess we never realized just how awful it was because of Emilee and her ability to be a "jack of all trades". Wherever she has gone we wish her the best, because we know her talents are being put to much better use. Don't waste your time or money on this completely substandard place. read more
