For fast food, Steak 'n Shake is not bad. It tries to capture that old fifties style diner feel and again, the burger and milk shakes are not bad for fast food. Let's not get ahead of ourselves and say that these burgers are amazing or anything like that. They certainly are not, but again, for fast food, they are not bad. This location is very conveniently located, it is right on East Colonial Drive and is convenient to not only the travelers on East Colonial Drive, but to the residents of Waterford Lakes, Avalon Parks and the slew of housing developments on the east side of Orlando, but it is also convenient to the University of Central Florida (UCF), so I am sure both students and faculty might find themselves here. The burgers are decently priced and again, they are pretty good (for fast food). All in all, not a bad place to grab a meal.

The pandemic has transformed Steak 'n Shake into a much more efficient, kiosk/counter service place instead of the gawd awful waiter/waitress place where you'd wait and wait and wait for someone to come to your table. The self serve refills are also much preferred. Instead of sitting and waiting, you order via kiosks at the front of the store. I'm guessing they have an app too, but I didn't check. You order via touch screen and it's actually pretty slick and easy. I was impressed as it's come a long way since the early 90's Taco Bell kiosks they tested in my hometown area. Just a note as a few years ago, I ordered a 7x7 (7 patties, 7 slices of cheese) and paid $9.99 for it which was a pretty good deal. I didn't see it on the touch screen so not sure if it's still doable, which is probably a good thing. I absolutely hate steak fries and these are the complete opposite. Shoe String fries are the best other than the fact they get cold quicker. The fries on this night were hot and fresh and I didn't need ketchup to make them go down. Burger King fries definitely need Ketchup or Ranch Dressing or something to get them down. Not here! The burger was good too. The tomato on my burger was photo close-up worthy and may be one of the largest, nicest tomato slices I've seen served ever. Everything was fresh and delicious. I think they have milkshakes too, but didn't get one here. In the past, I've seen the ones that they dress up like a sundae and they always look good. They have a wide variety of shake options. I don't know how often I'd come back here as their "healthy" options are very limited, but I felt like cheat day was worth it for once, and at other places, I've felt cheated out of a cheat day with crappy food. Not here! Excellent and I love the new transformation.

Pros: The food and beverages are usually on par. The staff is usually fast fun and friendly. Cons: The burgers seem to be prepared inconsistently from time to time, which suggests that a problem may exist with the process. Also, they should be mindful of the music volume in the kitchen, it's unprofessional. People: Good Process: Good Product: Good Quality: Good Quantity: Good Value: Fair Cleanliness: Fair Ambience: Fair Timing: Good Attention To Detail: Fair

Steak n' Shake has a special place in my heart. My husband took me here on our first date. I moved away and haven't been by one in 18 years. They have great prices, and great shakes. I ordered a Frisco melt and a Kit Kat shake, and my husband ordered chilli and a patty melt. It was all delicious and the service was good.

This location is cute with an open floor plan, black and white photos, many tvs, and an open kitchen. I started the evening off with an espresso martini. For the bar only having about 3 people and the restaurant not full, I was surprised at how long it took to get the drink. It was a pretty good martini. Our server was very nice. Let's get to the food. For an appetizer, we started with the grilled cheese brisket sliders. The brisket wss juicy and I enjoyed the dipping sauce that was paired with it. For entrees we got the 6oz bistro steak and the classic tavern burger. The steak was cooked great and the sauce on top was delicious. The meal comes with veggies and potatos. I asked for the chickpea fries instead of the potatos. I was shocked to see the bill at the end that I was charged the full amount for a side item of chickpea fries. I get an upcharge for a more premium side but I did not get the potatoes that come with the meal to have the chickpea fries instead. Also the chickpea fries have a much mushy texture now than they used to in the past. The burger was decent with no complaints there.

My friend treated me to a birthday lunch this week and when we got to the table, the staff had a birthday card waiting for me! How thoughtful! We came during happy hour and decided to try a few small plates and drinks. The Egg Rolls are a must! They were packed with flavor and a variety of ingredients. My friend especially loved the shrimp. We also tried the quesadillas and sliders on the happy hour menu. Both dishes tasted incredible! Sadly, though the happy hour has half priced apps, the plates are also half sized. They were absolutely delicious, but the dishes felt overpriced for the portion size. As for drinks, I tried the sangria flight. I wasn't expecting such a full portion size and was pleasantly surprised with that. I did, however, only find 2 of the 4 drinks to be especially tasty. I wouldn't order that flight again, but would be interested in their wine offerings. I loved the low lighting in the space as it set such a calm and laid back mood. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and especially loved the food! Totally recommend.

We stopped in for a wine tasting and had such a fun experience exploring several different wines while learning about each one from the tasting menu. The tasting room has an impressive wine wall and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the experience. One thing I really appreciated is that they offer non-alcoholic options, so even when we bring the kids along, everyone gets to feel included. My daughter loved having her own special drink while we sampled wines before dinner, which made the experience feel family-friendly without taking away from the winery atmosphere. If you're looking for something a little different than a typical dinner out, Cooper's Hawk is a great place to enjoy a wine tasting, then stay for a meal. It's become one of our favorite spots for a relaxed afternoon that both adults and kids can enjoy in their own way.

To my surprise, I was disappointed by the food. I got the loaded frings and a 5 x 5 burger. I believe the burger is relatively new, since it wasn't on any of the pictures of their menu on Google. Ambiance: The staff was friendly enough and I do like the fact that you can see them cooking the burgers in front of you. However, looking around at the restaurant, it looks like there was no upkeep. There were broken tiles, tables weren't cleaned, and I believe there might have been mold when I was filling my water cup at the ice machine, like visibly on the spout. Food: Loaded frings- I'm not sure how you mess this one up, but they somehow did it. The fries were overcooked and the bacon was fried to hell. I think you can actually see how burnt the bacon was in the pictures. It tasted like charcoal. Lastly, the fries were completely soaked in cheese sauce, which I'm guessing was from a can. It tasted like the cheese you'd have at state fairs, except more watery. There was more sauce than fries and onion rings! I should have taken a picture after eating half of the fries. I could not eat the bottom half of the frings because it was all soggy Burger- the same cooked-to-hell bacon was used on the burger. Not much else need to say about that. Looking at the picture of the burger, you'd think that the patties were way overcooked as well. That was not entirely the case. The patties weren't extra dry, but they weren't as juicy as I would have liked a burger to be. I'd say it was just okay. Maybe a half step below average. I really wanted to like this place, but I wasn't able to. I'm not sure if I came by on an odd day, because the reviews say otherwise. I really hope management can fix these issues.

The problem is, Orlando has so many wonderful mom and pop restaurants, chains like Cheddars become an afterthought or not even a thought if I'm being honest. We were a group of 9 but before we were seated a huge group of kids, I'm talking like probably 30 to 40 kids were seated all the way in the back right of the restaurant. We all looked at each other and joked: "We're gonna be here for like 3 hours" and you know what, it wasn't an exaggeration, we were there for like 2 1/2 hours, 1 of them was waiting for the food but I have to say, our waiter Drake was a champ. He did the best he could under the circumstances. It really gave us all an opportunity to talk and catch up with one another. The food was good, not great, just good. I ordered the Key west chicken and shrimp. I will say, the chicken was perfectly cooked, not dry at all. I got both steamed broccoli and the broccoli casserole as my sides. Those were just ok too. I was surprised to see that basic draft selections like Bud light, Coors etc are 2.99 for 16 oz. Overall, for a chain, this is probably one of the better ones.

We arrived around 5:30 PM and were told the wait would be approximately 30 minutes. Instead, we weren't seated until 7:20 PM--nearly two hours after arriving and 80 minutes past our reservation time. Once seated, things only got worse. Our drink orders were taken, but after 34 minutes we still hadn't received a single drink, including water. I eventually had to go to the hostess stand and ask if someone could please let our server know we'd at least like water. The hostess mentioned that similar issues had been happening all day. Our entire table was ready to order within minutes of sitting down, yet our server didn't return to take our food orders for roughly another 30 minutes. When drinks finally arrived, mine was missing entirely, and my boyfriend received a frozen margarita instead of the margarita on the rocks that he ordered. Everyone was asked whether they wanted Tajín or salt on their drinks, but none of the drinks arrived with rims. When our food came out, we still didn't have silverware and had to wait another five minutes before we could even begin eating. My side dish was also forgotten. To top it off, when the bill arrived it had been split three ways despite us clearly stating at the beginning that it would all be on one check. We then had to wait even longer while it was corrected. What was most disappointing wasn't just the mistakes--it was the complete lack of accountability. At no point did management come by to apologize, explain the delays, or attempt to make things right. We had sponsors in town hosting this dinner, and it was honestly embarrassing after recommending this restaurant. I understand that restaurants get busy and that mistakes happen, but this felt like a breakdown at every stage of service from arrival to payment. The lack of communication, urgency, and customer care made for an extremely frustrating experience even when I work in hospitality and know what it's like. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this location based on our visit.
