This was my first visit to any Dave's Hot Chicken location. My 12 year old daughter insisted! I got the Lite Mild spice level but could have gone up a notch or two. The food was amazing! The chicken strips were huge and heavily seasoned, juicy but with a crunchy coating. I loved the slider! The slaw, pickles and bun really complimented the chicken. The fries were great as well, not too greasy and well seasoned. I think the Dave's sauce was definitely the star of the show and went great with the fries, chicken and slider! Impromptu lunch stop! Both my husband and I ordered the slider and fries combo and a soft drink (sold separately). I sadly have to make a second review because things have clearly gone downhill. As I said before, the food is overpriced in my opinion. The service has made me really change my entire opinion. Multiple times now, my order has been wrong. The last time I went in, I asked for no pickles and of course got pickles. No problem. Went up and asked for a new order. Instead of giving me fresh food, they took my food back and shuffled everything around and told me my new food was made fresh. It feels super deceitful to do that. Fast and yummy! There's not much to say about another chicken place in Orlando, but this is a solid pick. They have different heat levels (hot being just a kick for me but too spicy for my friend) and different ways to get your chicken. They have tenders, sliders, and sandwiches. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the hype. As a fried chicken connoisseur I have to give this place a 2. Staff were friendly. We were able to order very quickly and the chicken was hot (temperature) and fries were like room temp. The 'hot' had alright flavor but good heat at least. The lite mild my wife got was nasty though, tasted like they just sprinkled basic taco seasoning on them. The tenders were very tender so I will give them that. The fries were good despite being room temp. My wife got the Mac and cheese and it was very plain, creamy, but plain. While they were good, they lacked a little added flavor to me. Just solid tenders. The coleslaw on the top was nice and the meal was decent overall. For what it is, it's a great place to stop. TL;DR: chicken is pretty good, prices are a bit high for what you get, location is small, staff were very courteous. So we've been here twice; one of the times we wanted to dine in, but seating was very limited and there weren't any seats available, so we got it to go instead. The other time, we were just grabbing to go (not that that mattered because again there were barely any available seats. I will say that the staff both times were very warm and helpful with our questions. The atmosphere is pretty basic. A little bit of decor inside, kind of eclectic, which feels kind of weird in such a small shop. As for the food: the chicken was well cooked and juicy, but having been to Nashville somewhat recently, the seasoning just wasn't up to par with what we were hoping for. Don't get me wrong-- it was still pretty good; just not as good as we had hoped. The sides were just okay, as fries generally don't travel that well and we're cold by the time we got home (obviously this is not the fault of the establishment). I do think that it would be great if they had some kind of fries maybe seasoned with the Nashville-style hot seasoning. All of that being said, we may still come back again because the service was pretty quick, and we'd still like to try everything when it's more fresh (if we can get a seat). Im not the type of person to leave a bad review but after what happened i must share my experience. I left this store feeling hurt, embarrassed and disrespected. The guy behind the counter Dave, treated me very poorly and spoke to me with attitude just because I had my service dog with me. I noticed while I was in line he was already giving me certain looks. My dog is certified and trained to perform specific tasks that help me every day. At one point, he simply propped his paws on the counter for two seconds while I was , something he occasionally does as part of his trained behavior to check on me. Instead of understanding or showing any compassion, Dave told me that I had to take myself and my dog outside to wait for my order because of what my dog did. I was shocked and embarrassed. I didn't deserve to be treated that way especially when I rely on my service dog for support and comfort. I hope Dave takes a moment to think about how his words and actions can affect someone who's already doing their best just to get through the day. I walked out feeling unwelcome, uncomfortable, and deeply disrespected and I truly hope no one else has to feel that way. read more

I'm a huge fan of the Nashville style hot chicken, so when Dave's Hot Chicken opened up in Waterford Lakes, I was excited to try it. I have also been to most of the hot chicken places up in Nashville, Tennessee, so I am definitely a hard judge. I am going to try and judge it in regards to the fact that I'm in Orlando, Florida and not Nashville, Tennessee. Orlando now has at least three hot chicken places. I know of the three places, there might be more. Dave's Hot Chicken is definitely the closest one to my house. Dave's Hot Chicken is located in the Waterford Lakes Town Center. Being in the Town Center, parking is not an issue. The staff is also extremely friendly. One thing that I was not a fan of is that Dave's Hot Chicken only offers chicken tenders instead of also offering bone-in chicken dishes. This seems to be the rule here in Orlando, Florida, but it woukd be nice to have a few options. But I have to remember that I am not in Nashville. The hot chicken here is not bad for Orlando. I do not think that this place would survive in Nashville, Tennessee, but again, we are not in Nashville, Tennessee, but rather we are in Orlando, Florida. So considering that we are in Orlando, I will give Dave's Hot Chicken four stars. read more

5 Stars for the staff, the food and the concept, but 2 stars for the size of this location. I was happy it was taking over the old Crisper's location which was huge, but apparently they cut it in half (or thirds) as this place is small. Dave's is right behind 5 Guys and Marlow's Tavern if you're looking for it. I got there about 11:30a on a Sunday and the dining room was already full and there were quite a few people waiting for their food. The "owner" was greeting people at the door, cheering on his team and was nice to talk to. This is the first location in Florida. When my order was ready (maybe 10 mins after ordering), a table opened up and I was able to sit inside and eat. I really wasn't looking forward to eating hot chicken outside in 90 degree heat. I got lucky but was worried for a bit. Keep this in mind if you're looking to "dine in". I had one Medium and one Hot tender. The Tenders were huge and thick and reminded me of the size at Chicken Fire (the Orlando gold standard for hot chicken). The crust was crispy with a nice spice. I had the medium first and was able to eat through that with no problem. There really wasn't a different in appearance between the two, and I didn't really get the heat from the hot until about halfway through, but it was there. I feel I can go one more level above hot and my try that on my next visit. They also gave you Dave's Sauce and offered to bring more if you needed it (unlike the stingy folks at Raising Canes where you get ONE sauce). They also provided plenty of pickles too. The fries were crispy and tasty in the sauce. They also gave out ketchup and honey if you needed it. The staff was amazing and were checking on me regularly. I hope that level of service sticks with this place and is not just a "grand opening" service mentality. I will say this was a LOT of food. I have a big appetite and it was plenty for me. I didn't notice if they had a 1 tender meal or anything like that, but I think you can order tenders and sliders a la cart as well. If you're dining with some not-so-big eaters, you may want to split a meal and add an item. Apparently, their Altamonte location will be much bigger. Sadly, the size of this location will keep me from coming too often, which is probably a good thing. I still have a few hot chicken places to try, but this was pretty good. read more
