I was very excited to try this place as a few of my friends have been before. The corn dog was really good but not super hot, the cheese was pretty stiff as I was expecting it to melt out. The sotteock was also really good, I should have looked up Yangnyeom sauce because they were very spicy and I was not prepared! They were also unfortunately not hot but still good. For the buns the pork was realllyy stiff and hard to eat and I wasn't able to eat much of it. The buns were good just a bit soggy and cold. Sadly I was expecting it to be better quality since I ordered at the counter and waited so I figured they would be fresh hot when I got my bag. Tried again to see if anything had changed. Overall I'd say the second experience was better than the first, but it just isn't the same as my prior experiences at locations up North. I was excited to see there was a Bonchon restaurant while out shopping at Waterford Lakes. When I lived in NY I had it a few times and really liked it. We came in and were seated. We noticed the tables were sticky and I mentioned it to the waiter but he explained that all the tables have been wiped down all day but they remained sticky. We ordered a mix of the Korean BBQ and the Soy Garlic wings. They came out nice and crispy as I remembered them but after a few wings I bit into one and the meat was really red and some bloody juice inside. I showed the waiter and he said he would take it back and asked if I would like a new order. I decided to get a brand new order of the same thing and the new order was much better. It was fully cooked all the way through and even more crispy. The flavors are very good with the Korean BBQ being my favorite. This was more of what I was used to in NY. The waiter was very apologetic for the inconvenience and said he explained to the staff that they had to do better. I was very disappointed in the first order as I don't think I have ever had undercooked chicken wings served like that and it could've been extremely dangerous for me to consume. I understand mistakes happen and the next order was up to par. The replacement meal was good but I don't know if I would go back. Bonchon is a place that I revisit from time to time. It's always delicious and has one of the best korean fried chicken I've had in Orlando. This review is for the Waterford Lakes location. Anyone who's been to the area knows that parking is typically very easy since it's in a large plaza. The entrance is a little hidden in a corner so I won't blame you if you miss it. On the inside, it's relatively clean, well organized, and it doesn't get overly crowded. Lastly, the bathrooms are a little far as you have to walk way towards the back. The last server I had was very nice and patient while she waited for us to order our food. She made sure we were happy and always had our water glasses filled. I ordered the bibimbap and a combo fried chicken with korean bbq to share. The bibimbap was very flavorful and filling with enough rice and vegetables to leave me satisfied. And finally, the highlight - the fried chicken. They were large pieces and remained crunchy and juicy for the entirety of the meal. The korean bbq is my favorite flavor, but I hear the garlic soy is also really good. Overall, I always recommend this place when people come to town and I always hear good reviews for it. So today (January 1, 2024), I finally tried the Bonchon location that is located in the Waterford Towers shopping plaza. I have been trying to decide the rating that I would give it and I kept trying to justify giving it three stars, but after all was said and done, I could at best only give it two stars. So, like all the best stories, let's start at the beginning. I tried to call in a takeout order and was told that they did not take takeout orders over the phone. I had to do it online through their website or through Doordash (or maybe it was Ubereats). Anyway, not a huge deal, but still an inconvenience for those who want to do it the "old-school" way. Anyway, I drove over to Bonchon and went in and I will say that it had a cool enough vibe to the place. I could not help but notice the sign saying that they do not accept cash payments. So, you are forced to pay with a credit card or probably via the various cash app ways. Whatever happened to legal tender? What about people who either do not have credit cards or choose not to use then? Anyway, I have and use my credit cards, so fir me, it was not a big deal. I did have to stand at the counter for a few minutes though there was only one person at the counter. When the young man came to assist me, he was friendly enough. I ordered a bibimbap, pork potstickers, popcorn shrimp and since I never had Korean fried chicken and they had a special of $1.50 a piece of either their wings or their straps, I wanted to order a few pieces. I was told that the minimum order was eight pieces. I tried ordering four wings and four straps and was told that they had to be the same. Also, a normal order is ten pieces and you saved two dollars and some change and got two pieces less. Not really much of a deal. They were also out of the popcorn shrimp, so I went with the eight piece "special" that really was not much of a special. Anyway, the food came out in about fifteen or twenty minutes and I headed home with my takeout order. The prices here are higher than what they should be and honestly, the food did not justify the price. I almost went with the bulgogi, but they were calling it USDA Select on their menu. USDA Select is the lowest USDA grade, so I went with chicken. The bibimbap was a poor version and was a small portion for the price point (around thirteen or fourteen dollars). The potstickers were also priced at about twelve or thirteen dollars and were not the best. Even the Korean fried chicken, which is supposed to be their specialty, seemed lacking. I thought Korean fried chicken was supposed to be crunchy. This was sticky with the sauce, but had no crunch and was overcooked. I honestly cannot see myself returning here. Again, I had giving a two star review, but could not even begin to justify giving it a three star and as I wrote it, I started wondering if I should give it one star. It was quite a disappointment in terms of a meal. I will keep it at two stars as the man working here was friendly and the place had a cool enough vibe. So, two stars and the only thing that I would recommend is going somewhere else for your meal. read more

On my 3rd visit I finally got the wings! lol, I had the 8 piece mixed. The gochujang wings are pretty spicy! No full head sweat but very tasty. The sweet soy wings balance it out. Perfect combo. I've had the radish kimchi and I love it. Another great side to balance some heat. Their rice is meh unfortunately. If I only got their wings I'd give it 5 stars. But the first 2 times I got their bibimbop. It's unfortunately not good hence the 1 star slip. Moral of the story, stick to the chicken! read more

Full disclosure: I eat here all pretty regularly, but almost always get take out. The Korean BBQ chicken here is superb. The boneless wings are not quite as good as the regular wings. The regular wings however are amazing. They have a truly satisfying crunchy crispness and the chicken always stays wonderfully tender. I've tried several of the other main courses and appetizers, and I've never been disappointed. That being said, the Korean BBQ chicken is really the main attraction here. Also worth noting: the chicken generally doesn't reheat very well unless you put it in an air fryer, so plan accordingly! The ambiance here is alright; it's very much a no-frills kind of place that's focused on the food more than the visual aspects. I've also always had good interactions with the staff here. I've seen some unpleasant reviews about the staff on here, but I've never experienced poor service or interactions with the staff. I also saw that there was a bad review posted with pictures from the Korean BBQ place 2-3 doors down from BonChon, so I figured that's worth noting as well. First time overload! We came here with just a few of us and couldn't help ourselves! This was just my order and a few sides and I didn't even post everything! The food here is great! If you love Asian friend children, you will be happy! It doesn't matter which way you go, bone in or boneless, it's all good! All the sides are Korean inspired and my favorite side of all of them is the japchae, Korean noodles and the bulgogi and fries. Trust me! So we were out shopping around Black Friday, and we didn't have time to prepare a meal at home, so we had to try and find something good to eat in the Waterford area. This place had been on our radar for a few years, actually, but we just never made it in. Well, this was our night. We wander in, get seated, and get started. So we order a couple of starters. Shrimp Shumai (Steamed or fried shrimp dumplings drizzled with honey dijon dressing). Very good! We got them fried, per our server's recommendation. There weren't huge pieces of shrimp, but the flavor was perfuse throughout the dumpling. Not too oily. I was a fan. Takoyaki (Fried octopus dumplings drizzled with Japanese mayonnaise, katsu sauce and sprinkled with bonito flakes). This was super interesting. The fritter itself was lovely, with huge chunks of meat in there, and they weren't too chewy. The Japanese mayo just goes good on Everything. And the bonito flakes added a fun texture. Ok, enough fluff. Onto the main event. The Korean Fried Chicken wings (Served with a complimentary side of pickled radish or coleslaw). We got the Half & Half Combo (wings and drums). So we got both flavors, Soy Garlic & Spicy. Yelp, I gotta tell you, I found the best chicken wings in Orlando. I know there are great wing joints out there, but they are not as good as these wings were. These huge, juicy wings were as crispy as crispy could be. And they were sauced so perfectly. Not too little, not too much. Of course, some of the people reading this might think that any of the spicy sauce might be too much. It wasn't ridiculously spicy, but it lingered. My second time ordering here in a while. The last time I ate was at least a year or 2 ago but was craving chicken and remembered it was decent, so why not? We got half garlic half spicy boneless wings, buldak, takoyaki, and fries. The wings flavor was pretty good, but wish there was more sauce! I'm a wing stop kinda person and love how there's always ample sauce. Here it was just lightly coated and not anything special. The breading was thin which I enjoy, but the chicken could've been a little juicier. Granted, it is boneless so it's not as fatty but yeah not my fav! So we finally tried the Korean bbq in Waterford lakes and I was pleasantly surprised. The kfc was super crispy and the soy garlic sauce was the icing on the cake. The prices were a bit high compared to other kfc spots, but again the chicken was worth it. I also tried the beef bulgogi. It was decent, I've definitely had better. The service was great but the food took a while to come out. Doesn't seem like they have enough staff, especially in the evenings. The pickled radish was pretty good as well. It was a great refresher for the bbq sauce. I've gone back a few times since our initial visit but stuck with ordering just the Korean fried chicken. Visit with my daughter who was excited to try. I'm not overly experienced in Korean food (big in to Thai and Vietnamese), but was in for the try. The menu isn't vast, but was ok. I ordered the SOY GARLIC BONELESS WINGS and she ordered TTEOKBOKKI. The wings were nicely cooked (maybe a tad overdone which added to the dryness), but didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping. I asked for their Korean spicey sauce and their spicey mayo for dipping to hopefully add some zip. The spicy sauce is WAY spicey but mixing it with the spicey mayo worked for me. The Tteokbokki, while she found it interesting, was just too spicy, but she tried. Overall, she found it interesting, but couldn't eat it. Let me warn you: the spicy is a slow burn that will get you in the end. Figuratively, that is. Maybe literally too. Your mileage may vary. A nice surprise was the cole slaw. It was very good! I recieved a BOGO free small chicken plate coupon and decided to use it today. The restaurant is in a plaza in between two other restaurants and has a cute modern look inside. I really liked the thick wooden tables and the cute private/non-private room there. It's a glass area that's blocked off with a table that seats 6 people. That would be cool for a small party celebrating something special. Our waitress was a very nice and soft spoken young lady. She answered all of our questions, let us know the most popular dishes on the menu and was pretty attentive. Now the chicken was super flavorful and the portions were huge. My boyfriend and I both got the small chicken strips in Soy Garlic and they came with 10 large tenders each. I ate 2 and felt full, where my boyfriend was good with 4. Honestly, 2 people could eat off of one smallborder and be satisfied. We didn't know how big the portions would be so we also got the Kimchi Bacon Fried Rice to split. I wasn't a huge fan of the rice though. It was flavorful as well, but with the chicken strips having such a strong flavorful taste to them, having a side equally as flavorful with spice wasn't the best combo. This place was okay. We were craving korean fried chicken and decided to get some Bonchon. We ordered the large combo with drumsticks and wings, which was enough to feed the four of us. My friends preferred the wings more than the drumsticks though. It did take a while for the food to come out, but that is to be expected since it is cooked to order and the drumsticks were pretty big. Our server did stop by a couple of times to apologize for the wait when he saw us eyeing another table that got their food first. Of course we had to try their chicken wings... we opted for ten garlic soy wings instead of spicy since we had the kiddos. These came out soo crispy, tossed in a very tasty sauce. The chicken was moist and just perfect!!! I highly recommend ordering these. One of the kiddos really wanted noodles. The only noodle dish they had available was Japchae. They are glass noodles in their house Bonchon garlic soy sauce with peppers, carrots, mushrooms and marinated beef. This was so delicious!
