I've been to island thymes twice now, and both times it's been a wholesome experience. I like really liked their food, I'm always looking for good authentic Caribbean food and this one made it . I ordered curry chicken, black beans, baked Mac n cheese, some empanadas, oh and fried sweet plantains, and a cheesecake with guava sauce for dessert. It was really good, prices were reasonable, we were in and out fast and satisfies. I want to go back soon and try more. recommended

This place was way better than I expected! It doesn't look like much outside, but the food is packed with flavor. The server was super knowledgeable about the food and made the experience very welcoming and informative. The oxtail fell off the bone and the sides were fantastic! Definitely worth checking out in Orlando.

Hear me out y'all cause the pics do NO justice. All that needs to be said is 10/10 SERVICE, 10/10 GRUB, 10/10 MEMORIES. Definitely try it for yourself!! This place is dangerously good, if I worked there I'd be fat & if I lived nearby I'd be immobile, IT'S THAT GOOD:)) Shoutout to our cashier SANTIAGO he what made the experience so memorable 10/10, he made sure to make us feel special & had great conversations;))

This place is amazing! If you are looking for some delicious Caribbean food I highly recommend this place. The server was extremely helpful and helped us figure out what we wanted to order. Definitely a place to check out.

These are not oxtails. They had so much oil and they were so watered down. No flavor at all.

My husband and I were very disappointed. With so many reviews and great images we wanted to try this place. Both our dishes were horrible. He had the snapper and had the oxtails. The oxtails were fatty, the gravy was so watery and lacked flavor. The rice was so hard as if it was cooked and just sat in a pot for a while. Our sons jerk chicken just had a marinade on the outside but after the first bite just tasted like regular rotisserie chicken. We drove close to an hour and we're so disappointed.

Stew Chicken macaroni and cheese and sweet plantains

First time trying this place. The inside is super clean and nice. The owner is super nice. We ordered Oxtails with rice and peas and collard greens. As well as stew chicken with macaroni and cheese and sweet plantains. The food was pretty good however the portion sizes were small for the price. There were only 4 pieces of oxtail. The macaroni tasted good but was not what I expected. Overall I would say if you are in the area it is worth a try however it is pricy.

Love the flavors, customer service is really nice. I ordered the island stewed chicken so good.

Great food, I ordered the island stew, chicken with mac & cheese and collard greens and was amazed at the flavor.

I found this place after looking around on Yelp and decided to try it for lunch. I'm glad I did! The place was nice with pictures of the islands on the walls and the service was great. I young guy explained the options between lunch and dinner portions and I tried the lunch jerk chicken and mac n' cheese. That mac n' cheese is bangin. The chicken was tasty and cooked well but the mac n' cheese stole the show. I was full but couldn't stop eating. I'll be back soon!

    A must try

Very flavorful food. Great spot. The service was wonderful. All the Food came out fresh and hot. The jerk chicken was on point. Meat coming off the bone. The owner came out to check on us and the food. The shrimp tacos were great also.

Jamaican Curry!!! Where has this been all my life??? I love this place more every time we visit. Everything on the menu is amazing Awesome service and the food is unbelievable!!! You will not regret. Great staff and the chef makes sure your food is amazing!

I had wanted to like Island Thyme Caribbean Grille and had given it a try a couple of times, but have not been overwhelmed by their food. Perhaps it is me. When I think Caribbean food, I automatically think of Jamaican food. This a very generalized and homogenized version of Jamaican food and I understand the Caribbean is more than Jamaica. However, this is just my opinion and my overall feeling on this place and its food. The staff here is friendly and professional. The ambiance is pretty basic and nothing fancy, but that is okay enough. The jerk chicken here is okay enough. Nothing special, but nothing terrible. With it being in a shopping plaza, there is plenty of parking. It is in the same shopping plaza as the Walmart Neighborhood Market. I guess I can only give it three stars overall. The staff is friendly and all, but I was just hoping for more.

    Calypso fish taco- yum yum!

The food is DELICIOUS! So many things here are SO GOOD! Yum! The owner and chef, Vern Thomas , usually comes out to greet our family and check on how we like the food. The atmosphere is quite casual but the food can't be beat! Best wishes to Vern in his endeavors to feed us with his amazing dishes with island flair. My favorite restaurant food in all of Orlando!

Island Thyme is a small local fast casual Caribbean restaurant over in the Avalon Park area. Their food is renowned in Orlando and has great review through many local publications. I've had the opportunity of coming here a few times now. The ambiance is one of a local shop that if you know you know, evidenced by the many to go orders that are placed. It's not too big, enough seats for maybe 15-20 people. Their food does not disappoint... I ordered the Jerk Chicken with rice and peas and the Jerk Salmon with rice and black beans. The jerk chicken was cooked to perfection, the perfect amount of spice and the inside still moist. The rice and peas fluffy and tasty to pair perfectly with the entrees. The salmon was amazing, cooked to perfection and juicy on the inside. The jerk seasoning hit it perfectly. I personally recommend eating there as this food just hits different when you have it fresh. Super good find in Central FL if you want some good Caribbean food.

Curry Chicken, rice and peas, fried plantain! Did I say it was HALF a chicken?

No complaints there at all. Beef Patty: 2/5 - The seasoning was actually pretty good, so the flavor was there. Unfortunately, the patty itself was very dry and had much less beef filling than I expected. I kept hoping for a better bite, but it never really happened. Coco Bread: 1/5 - It was served warm, which was nice, but it was also quite dry. I was expecting the soft, buttery, slightly sweet coco bread that's perfect for pairing with a patty. This one missed the mark for me. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible thanks to the excellent customer service, but the food just didn't live up to what I expect from a Jamaican restaurant. There are enough great Jamaican spots around Orlando, that I probably wouldn't make a return trip here. I was rushing on my break or I would've taken a photo.

The giant NOW OPEN banner was flapping like it personally invited me, and the storefront painted in bold Trinidad flag colors looked ready to hand out citizenship papers with every order. I walked in thinking I'd grab a quick bite. Rookie mistake, one look at the doubles and suddenly I'm ordering five. Then I'm calling my aunt and cousin like it's a family emergency: "Allyuh want doubles? Because these looking SERIOUS." Next thing you know, I'm walking out with ten doubles like I'm catering a small festival. And let me tell you, these doubles? Soft bara, perfectly seasoned channa, pepper and tamarind sauce hugging everything like a warm Caribbean auntie. I've basically been on a doubles‑only diet since, and honestly, I feel spiritually aligned. I even ate one cold from the fridge and it still slapped. That's when you know it's real. Then there's the boneless curry chicken with buss‑up‑shut. Pure comfort. The kind of meal that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. The potatoes were soft enough to spread on a cracker, the channa was rich and earthy, and the chicken tasted like somebody's grandmother was in the back whispering, "Put a lil' more seasoning, nah." The buss‑up‑shut was fluffy, torn, and ready to scoop up every drop of curry like it had a mission. And the pepper sauce? Flavorful. Respectful. Not trying to fight me or send me to the ER. A rare and beautiful thing. The place is clean, the parking is plentiful, and the staff has real Trini accents that instantly make everything feel more authentic. Even the way they say "Next!" has rhythm. Next time, I'm calling ahead for dhal phourie, because clearly this place does not miss and I'm not risking it selling out. If you see me there again, mind your business! I'm probably ordering another ten doubles and living my best life.

I was getting together with some friends and we ordered from Negril. Luckily, a couple of my friends are Jamaican and they helped steer me to some new faves! Food I'd highly recommend: - Brown stew chicken meal with rice and peas, fried plantain, and stewed cabbage. This dish is rich and has the potential for leftovers if you're not starving. For the uninitiated, Jamaican rice and peas consist of red kidney beans and rice that's cooked in broth, coconut milk, and tons of aromatic spices. This isn't your white rice and green peas type of situation. I could have eaten this rice on its own, but add in the brown stew sauce and WOW. Also, I love the cabbage side because it adds a vinegary note that offsets the rich stew. Note: The chicken is cut up and includes bones. - Coco bread: This is a Jamaican style bun baked with coconut milk. It's especially good when paired with a patty in the middle (yes, the coco bread around the patty! Carb heaven!). - Festival: Jamaican festival is a sweet fried dough made with cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and milk aka a dumpling. Yes this is as good as it sounds- especially for soaking up brown stew gravy! I was BLOWN away to see an entire veggie section of the menu (for online ordering) featuring soya veggie chunks (a soy based option with the consistency of chicken). The jerk chicken, I got with rice and peas, mixed veggies and cabbage. The cabbage was a little strange to me- not as I imagined from Jamaica steamed cabbage. The mixed veggies were also basic - like boiled frozen mixed veggies. The rice and peas were overall good but tasted a little on the hard side. The chicken though! This was the highlight - it was very flavorful, though I wish I would be able to have the sauce on the side.. For the fried chicken meal - the fried chicken was nice and hot. I got this to-go and was worried it would get soggy but it still tasted great when I got home. Environment This is located in a plaza tucked away near the corner. It seems to be a more takeout restaurant. There is some seats inside for your to enjoy the food. Since it is in a plaza, there is plenty of parking available, but in front of the restaurant could be a bit tricky. Niceness of the staff I would say she was not on the nice side. No one greeted me upon entering also they seemed preoccupied and did not once gave eye-contact. Definitely not friendly.. but nonetheless I got my food. Dollar It is like the bang for your buck. I ordered via UnderEats and there are deals, it was very reasonable as you get 2 leg quarters! Yes I would definitely order takeout again

The live music, great drinks, and upbeat atmosphere make it a perfect spot for a date night or girls' night out. The food is delicious, and the oxtail is one of my favorite dishes on the menu. I've always enjoyed the vibes here and definitely recommend checking it out!

The menu read great and we were excited to try this place since we love Jamaican Food. Was not easy to make a reservation - had to call Universal main line and choose from options. However, once we got a person, the reservation process was easy and pleasant. We informed the person taking the reservation that this was our first time visiting the restaurant so we expected a nice table - I assume they want repeat business. But instead we were seated right in front of the live band and it was so loud, we couldn't talk at all. The funny thing was that the restaurant was barely half full! Our waiter also had a tough time hearing us so we had to corret our orders a couple of times. They ran out of beef patties:-( that day. We decide to order some appetizers and a couple of entrees and shared. We had the Buffalo Soldier Jerk Wings - Had a nice spice to it and was quite delicious. We also hd the Jerk Caulifolower bites - a little sweet and spicy sauce and we all agreed this was the best dish we had! We had the Curried Goat stew - a weak curry and did not really have any spice to it. The Reggae Jamaican Jerk Chicken had a sweet spice and sticky sauce - next best dish we had. We also ordered the Coco bread- which was disappointing andd I do not recommend. It was just bread with some butter in it and definitely overpriced for what you got! Cocktails were rather weak. Server was just OK. He wasn't very attentive and did nothing to make our visit great.

Beef patty with rolls and fries. My kids enjoyed it. A bit too dry for my taste.
