Mangia moved since my last review and it's better than ever. They're on the southern end of Avalon Park and they serve up some amazing Italian cuisine. Still 5 stars since I can't bump it up another notch. They have their staples like Chicken Parm, Lasagna, Bolognese, Shrimp Fry Diavolo, Puttanesca , Piccata, Gnocchi, and a variety of delicious pizzas and appetizers. There are too many to name. This restaurant can stand on their own with their standards. Where they stand out is with their specials. The chef here is always innovating and trying some new dishes. I wish I could get a notification of what's on the menu each night. I've had some amazing surprises with the taste and presentation of these dishes. And when they have wedding soup (Christmas time), I definitely make sure I go. I feel like part of the family when I go here. They always recognize us and some of the staff even resembles member of my extended Italian family. They cook better than my Italian grandma (shhhh, don't tell her). They also just opened a sister restaurant (Amalfi) down the block so they're taking over Avalon Park! I've been here a lot and plan on going a lot more. Some of the best Italian food in Orlando! Very beautiful food I would say the best Italian in Florida. Everything had very balanced flavour. We started with a aperol spritz and wine and they brought the house bread which was delicious just like their pizza. Our appetiser was a carpaccio which was very refreshing and delicious. The server Madison recommended the lobster ravioli which was a very pleasant dish slightly sweet and rich a beautiful mix. The spaghetti meatballs also exquisite even for a simple dish, the meatballs not really extremely tender but they were still delicious. This was our first time back in over two years, now that Mangia has relocated into the heart of Avalon Park. We called and reserve the table for seven with no issue. The food was extremely delicious, our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the entire menu and made recommendations based on what we were looking for an interested in. Prices are in line with a more upscale Italian restaurant, and I feel that for most of our dishes, the price was worth what we received. Would definitely recommend going here at least once. They continue to be a great addition to the east Orlando restaurant scene. read more

This place is always a 10/10! Such good Italian food. For starters, their bread with the oil/vinegar... so good! I have to stop myself from eating too much of it so that I don't kill my appetite for dinner! Their dinner portions are huge, I always have leftovers for the next day. Everything my family and I got was delicious. My husband really liked this entree that was one of the daily specials a couple months ago.. I was so impressed that the server asked the chef if they could make it tonight for my husband and they said yes! What a treat and so thoughtful. Had a very lovely evening meal at Mangia for the first time near closing on a Sunday. Despite coming in after the dinner rush, the staff was kind and attentive and the atmosphere was cozy. The complimentary bread was fresh and I appreciated the quality of the olive oil served on the side. The wine menu was excellent, including the selections for house pours, all imports. We started with the calamari, it was lightly breaded, crispy and served with a heaping side of house made marinara. After the starter, I chose the lasagna (highly recommended by my server and I did not regret that decision). It was served as a heaping slice, garnished with fresh basil and the quality of the cheese used was excellent! We had never been in this area before and we're craving pizza. We happen to walk into Mangia on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 in the afternoon. There is ample Street parking in this area, which is fantastic so very easy to get a parking place. Not to mention there are some great lots around as well. The dining restaurant portion didn't open until 2 PM but we were able to order a takeout pizza from there to go area. We opted for the extravaganza that had pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, and olives on it. The pizza is supposed to be in New York style pizza and while the flavor was really good we definitely feel for the amount of toppings that are on the pizza. The crust could be a little bit thicker. Overall, we really enjoyed the pizza. We did get a 16 inch which was much larger than we actually needed, but it worked out in the end as we brought it home and had it for dinner. read more

Update from first visit 2 years ago: Went to their new location which was. Wet nice and inviting. As usual the food was awesome! This time we had the grouper puttanesca special, the mushroom ravioli, and the eggplant parmigiana which was the BEST I've ever had! The bread was so soft with a delicious crust and and an olive oil dip. Portions were large and the wine by the glass was a reasonable price. Get the papardelli pasta, it's house made! So for me, when I walk into an Italian restaurant and they are speaking Italian to each other, I feel like I'm in the right place ! I had time to kill before dinner so I sat at the bar and had a cocktail. Strawberry prosecco limoncello spritz. Delicious! And it tastes exactly like you think it would. Nice and bright! It was a pretty drink too. For dinner we were given bread and dipping oil. The bread was rustic and fresh and obviously made on premises. I wanted to try something traditional so I ordered the Amatriciana. This was a rigatoni noodle with a pomodoro sauce with guanciale on top with a touch of pecorino Romano. First, the noodles were al dente and not overcooked like you find in most places. I think they even make them, if what I was told is accurate. The sauce was fantastic. It was a fresh tomato sauce that was clearly made from scratch, emphasizing the tomatoes and not just some processed tomato sauce concoction. It was not sweet (thankfully) and full of flavor. The sautéed and slightly crispy guanciale was a perfect touch. It was just enough to compliment the dish. And who can go to an Italian restaurant and not get Tiramisu? It was creamy and delicious and just what you want. Finally, the entire staff was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!!!!! read more

This place is fantastic! It is located in Avalon Park which is a very cute area and it is very nice and upscale inside the main dining room. There was a different person bringing out everything like our menus and our water apart from our actual server. Our server was very kind and helpful he even made the frozen sangria that my friend wanted even though they typically only do it on weekends. Cute area in Avalon. They started us off with bread and oil for dipping. I would have like the bread a tad softer but it was good. The pasta fagioli was really good but it needed a little more flavor. It came with some yummy croutons to add. The pizzas were all good. We have been here a few times and the food is amazing every time! Their homemade bread to start with oil/balsamic to dip in is fantastic. We also share a bruschetta that was really good. I ordered the chicken parm - the chicken was freshly breaded and super crispy, with rigatoni and sautéed broccoli on the side. My husband ordered the lamb special which was also really good. Tonight was such a pleasant surprise. We don't go out for Italian often and really stopped after Papa Lozzi closed, but Mangia is an absolute rockstar alternative. We got the amatriciana and the margherita pizza. The sauce on both was both savory and sweet - the kind that you pucker your lips a few times to get the extra bits of flavor from the edges. The mozzarella on the pizza had the best chew and the freshest flavor. The mouth feel of the pasta and the pizza crust were both spot on- a bit of chew combined with an indulgent taste. Top it all with the complimentary homemade bread and olive oil/balsamic/parm dipper and you have one heck of a meal. This is where my brother and his family have been celebrating special occasions for a few years now. This family owned business puts passion into all their food and drinks. They are authentically Italian. From mozzarella, to Affogato. Gnocchi, pasta, pizza and so much more. On this most recent visit, there were 15 in our party. Not wanting a heavy meal, I ordered a Caprese salad and Pasta Fagiole soup. The mozzarella is so fresh and made on site, served with big pieces of juicy red tomato on top of a bed of greens served with delicious balsamic. My bowl of Pasta Fagiole was big, delicious and served with a few croutons. The chicken Parmesan is a huge portion with, what has to be home made tomato sauce and your pasta of choice. My son ordered a 14" pepperoni pizza served with that delicious mozzarella and a mild tangy sauce. Can't wait to try the chicken Marsala and the pizza again. What can I say? I love this place every time I travel from Miami back to my sisters in Orlando. This is my go to the people. There are amazing weight staff incredible such a family fireman that they treat you like their own family. They offer several types of pizza, but this is one of my favorites to go for the pizza. Their pasta is incredible too. You could taste everything like it. Nona made it great for a be very awesome for family environment. The place has just filled with so much love it is a must go. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. The place was very nice had a lot of seating a bit confusing on where to go in at. Had a reservation for 5 people at 5:30. They sat us at a 4 top and refused to expand the table despite 3/4 of the patio being open. There wasn't room for a 5th place setting. After pointing it out to the manager, and after much back and forth, they brought over an "extra" table. We left at 7:15 and open tables were still not sat. Food and service was decent/average after that.. 5 people don't fit at a 4 top... no room for food drinks and appetizers. I don't know how some restaurants don't understand this. Will not go back based on how we were treated at the beginning by the staff and the passive aggressive nature of the manager, who finally fulfilled our reservation request but blamed us for the issue. read more

Review for the new location! Food is still top notch and the same menu. So this is still the best Italian restaurant in East Orlando. The restaurant is light and airy with more whites and light blues throughout. It has 2 rooms plus the patio. It definitely has a more casual vibe no and not claustrophobic like the last place. They now have a full bar and I mean big long bar! They feature a lot of Italian cocktails and wines but they've got everything else as well. Prices are a bit high but this is Avalon Park! They also have a small cafe for espresso. Didn't try that. Not sure how that will fair with the French cafe and Colombian bakery next store. We have been eating here since it opened and its smaller venue. It was no surprise when their popularity had been moved to a much bigger. The food is awesome. Homemade pasta wonderful sauces , this is a real family Italian restaurant. My favorites are grouper puttanesca. And chicken marsala. Do you want to swap out for broccoli instead of pasta no problem The service is awesome always friendly and attentive. It's nice that they know us also after so many years. And occasionally they have a wonderful singer everything from hits to opera. That's a great night to catch. It's a casual, but very nice atmosphere. The tables aren't too close. I really wanted this to be five stars since the menu looked amazing but I wasn't a huuuuge fan of my dish. But first, we ordered the calamari and arancini to start. Both were delicious! Even though the arancini comes with two they are quite large and good to share; the calamari also is big! Definitely good to share between at least 3 people. We also loved the bread and ordered two more servings before the food came out! As for the mains, I didn't enjoy my seafood pasta much. The clams and mussels (though delicious) had a few tiny bits of sand left which is not unusual but still unpleasant, and the sauce for the pasta was bland in my opinion. I ended up adding copious amounts of cheese and some red pepper flakes to remedy it. Granted, I did swap out the original "light red sauce" for a white wine based sauce, but I still think the sauce should be tasty on its own. Also my friend ordered ravioli and initially joked about usually being disappointed with the serving size, with the server reassuring us it is a good amount. And then when it came out it still had only 5 pieces ... it was delicious, but just know to not order raviolis if you're starving! Overall, 4 stars for ambiance, service, and everyone else's dishes, and I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu! read more

Avalon Park~We didn't have a reservation on a Friday evening and they were packed! The gracious hostess was able to seat 5 of us in less than 20! We chatted at the bar until our table was ready! Great atmosphere and even better service. Justin and Simone took great care of us. Their knowledge of the menu was spot on and helped us with our selections. The bread, balsamic and olive oil was on point. All of our entrees were absolutely delicious too! We each had something different and got to share a little bit with everyone. Definitely a great spot to hang out on a Friday evening. Plenty of patio space for when it cools down in the fall. Can't wait to return and try something different from the menu. We were very impressed by the fact that this restaurant has a lot of family members working there. Especially since they are from Italy. Made us feel like they knew exactly what they were doing!!! I always hear that Mangia had great food. Now that I have been there, I would definitely agree! Service was great (especially since we were a party of 12!). Since we were a large party, we were not in the main area so the overall ambience was a bit harder to judge. we did walk into the main part to take a look and it looks very nice. We will have to come back as a smaller party to give the main room a try. If you are hungry, the portions are huge! If you can't finish, it's a bonus lunch for tomorrow :-). We ordered: -Calamari -Moscato -Sangria -Lamb chop with Mushroom Risotto (Daily Special) -Grouper with Lemon Butter sauce, no capers (Daily Special) The bread was perfect and the dipping oil was delicious and flavorful. The Calamari wasn't overly breaded and they asked if we wanted to add shrimp... absolutely! The crisp was perfect and sauce was heavenly! The drinks weren't too sweet. I didn't get a headache which is an indication(to me) of great wine. The fruit in the Sangria was fresh. The moscato and Sangria were delicious! The Lamb chops I got done medium but seemed more medium well. I think that was my only issue. That issue was overshadowed by the taste of the chop. The real star is the Mushroom Risotto! THEE BEST RISOTTO I've ever eaten in my life! I don't typically order fish at restaurants. I tasted my boyfriend's Grouper dish and I would eat that whole plate! They offered spicy oil and it heightened the flavor of the dish. I enjoyed the Lemon Butter pasta that it came with, (they offered a choice of 2 different sauces: Red Sauce or Lemon Butter) I see myself coming here A LOT!
