It's been a while, and while I still come here periodically, it's not like how it use to be. You can find good deals but some items are more expensive than other grocery stores. Things like eggs, milk, cheese tend to be more expensive here. I came here specifically looking for frozen banana leaves to make pasteles one time and when I got home, the leaves were a slimy mess and I had to throw the package entirely in the garbage. Another time I had bought some empanada discs and when I got home they smelled weird and when I check the package they had expired months ago, so please check expiration dates on things while at the store. It's still a place I'll come for produce and some Spanish items, and all things considered, prices are still decent. read more

Not a very fancy produce store but the deals are great and the produce is fresh! Prices are reasonable. The meats looked fresh and are affordable. Very nice cashiers and plenty of parking. Fancy Fruits and Produce has multiple locations and today I stopped by their location in East Orlando on East Colonial Drive. While the parking lot is relatively small, I was fortunate enough to find parking right in the front. In addition to fruit and produce, Fancy Fruits and Produce also has meat and general canned goods, spices, etc. Pricing is fair, though I was disappointed that some of the produce was borderline and was not as fresh as it could be. However, a bit of rooting around found a beautiful piece of produce. I did find it interesting that they had security standing by the exit. Is it for loss prevention or have they had other kinds of issues in the past? Things that make you go hmm. Ultimately, I would recommend here if you are in the neighborhood. read more

This was a great find relatively close to home (Oviedo) to find authentic latin foods. I was particularly looking for chicken feet to make bone broth as it's commonly used in Latin America to heal your body from within. I called in advance to ask if they had it and the manager at the meat/poultry area confirmed so off I went! They had feet, chicken necks, ox tail... all the typical animal parts used in Latin food preparation. I also snagged some tequeños (queso and queso/guava) an a couple of other herbs for my broth. This poorly named store (it's the opposite of fancy) is a good choice when looking for meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, seasonings and spices. It's a bit cramped inside and be a challenge maneuvering around, especially if you have a cart. Parking is also a challenge when it gets busy, which it usually is. My thoughts are know your prices at other stores. Some things are a lot cheaper and some are on par with sales going on at other stores like Publix and Winn Dixie. They do have some things I haven't seen at other stores, so if you're looking for a hard-to-find fruit (dragonfruit, jackfruit) or veggie (bitter melon, Chinese eggplant) you may want to give this place a try. Some of it is fresh and some of it needs to be used immediately, or you need to search through bins of wrinkly soft peppers to find a good one. On the meat and seafood site, you can find good deals on chicken, pork (including belly), beef, and seafood. Most of it is packaged in large quantities so make sure you are hosting a party or have freeze space available. They have some different sauces and seasonings, particularly in the hispanic side, but they have some asian assortments as well as american staples like tobasco. Again, some of it can be found cheaper elsewhere. I come here occasionally when looking for something different and left with a decent assortment of grapes, avocados, jackfruit, limes, serrano peppers, and 1 small red pepper. read more

For dried goods and some vegetables this place is good. They had a huge selection of dried beans, corn, etc. What I cannot abide is the occasional whiff of sewer with a mix of dead rat scent. Needless to say, the less than appetizing meats became less so after that olfactory discovery. No reputable grocery store would have such a stench, ever. Let's begin with excellent prices. If you are not nit picky about only purchasing organic produce, this supermarket has great prices on almost everything. And I said almost everything, because some herbs are regular price, although mostly everything is cheaper. Let's move on to selection. This supermarket has a very large selection of Asian/Hispanic vegetables, Asian/Hispanic frozen vegetables, Asian/Hispanic goods. It has for sure the largest selection of Peruvian products in Florida, I tell you that is a fact. Also, Goya has a very strong presence here. Hands down my favorite Peruvian items grocery. A quick example of why 5 stars. I have been looking for a small bottle of Sriracha, almost impossible to find, but they had it here. Also, I have been looking for years for fresh small Thai chili, and they have it here. And they carry frozen chirimoya and lucuma pulp. Seriously, this place is amazing. Now, I noticed some dead veggies, so they stock well but they don't remove well. I haven't found expired goods, but I'd check on everything, just in case. Finally, warm Cuban and Puerto Rican bread in the back, lots of juices and sodas (sorry, no Jarritos) and a meat section with good priced items. Oh! Fancy Fruit is a staple in the Kissimmee area. It's a bustling mom and pop produce market that sells meat & fresh seafood. It has lots of Latin products as well as other West Indian Foods & Spices that cater to this community. I've seen the same faces working here for years and years which is a testament to the family that runs it. The prices are excellent. You can find all kinds of seafood that you won't find another fish markets or grocery store like Publix. They also sometimes have live crabs. As for the produce, they have lots of the root vegetables and different veggies that Hispanics are used to cooking with. The meats are also very cheap. This place is always busy and the aisles are narrow so it takes some maneuvering to get around. I gave it a four out of five stars because you really have to be careful with the fruits. It's hit or miss. Sometimes you get delicious and sweet fruit and other times they're awful or maybe rotted. It's not always the best smelling Place either but that goes with the fact that there's fish and meat being butchered there. Nevertheless I love supporting small local businesses in my community and will continue to make this my place to shop for things I I can't find at Publix. read more

My wife enjoys going to Fancy Fruit. She says it reminds her of the corner markets we can find back home in the Bronx. This one is conveniently located on E. Colonial about 10mins (with no traffic) from our home. It is located across from a bigger strip of shops and next to a mechanic shop. It has plenty of parking which at times is not enough because of how busy it gets. We visit at least once a week so she can get the staples no Dominican can be without, platanos, usually 5 for $1, salami (dominican sausage), frying cheese & yucca (cassava). I had a bad experience visiting the fancy fruit on curryford and goldenrod on the east side of orlando. I was going up and down the aisles with the grocery cart when I couldn't believe what I was observing. Rats the size of baby cats running up and down the aisles, there must have been 3 or 4 huge rats, t went down the meat aisle and it stunk like rotten meat. Folkd dont shop here. Lots and lots of fruit at very good prices. Check out the pictures for prices and selection. The fruit is on the edge of being over-ripe, so come in and buy for the next day or two, dont expect it to last long like the under-picked Publix stuff. A huge selection of vegetables, ground-provisions (tubers), and some ethnic selections that I don't find on regular grocery shelves. Cheap and fresh, with good selection... This review is for the restaurant on the side. When they first opened they served a good portion of food. Now they have become so cheap with their portion and it's not worth the price they charge. They are especially cheap with the pernil/shredded pork. I will never buy there again. Provide a portion that is worth the price you're charging. Train the servers to serve the same amount of food. Honestly, I'm considering not coming here anymore. When I come to a place that specializes in produce I expect them to have fresh produce. However, it seems that every time I come, which is often, the produce is literally rotting. Today, I needed an avocado and all the avocado were spoiled. One of them was about half good. I brought it to the register and tried to see if they can lower the price. The lady said she could only reduce it by 20 cents. The guy next to me who sells avocado in Philadelphia suggested to lower it to $1. She didn't bulge. Are you serious? who's going to buy it? It will end up spoiling completely, so what's the point? Make sometime out of it. Poor customer service. Also, one of the employees was cleaning with a machine making the customers move out of he's way. I know you want to go home but you should wait until you customer filled store empties out. The unprofessional staff and unfresh produce is such a dissapointment and I'm done. read more

At first, I was skeptical. Honestly, I thought that Fancy Fruit and Produce would be an expensive organic/vegan supermarket where everything would be over-priced and pretentious (nothing against organic/vegan places, but I've been to a few that have been unbearable). I'm so glad I tried this place out. :) It's the perfect place to look for good quality produce or a variety of Hispanic food brands. Walking in, you definitely get the feel of a small, family-run supermarket (though that may not be the case). Everyone was so friendly! I wish I could have looked around longer, but if I had, I probably would have bought out the store. lol. For $7, I bought two cartons of strawberries, a bad of lemons, a bag of limes, broccoli, oranges, and potatoes. All of that would have at least been $12 at any other place. Budget-friendly and healthy, is there a better combination? Now that I've read other reviews for this place, I'm definitely going to go back and check out their meat selection. It would be fun to experiment with rabbit or get ox tail for cooking pho. Parking is decent; they have their own lot and I didn't have trouble finding a spot near the entrance. There is also overflow parking on rocks and gravel next to the store. My only complaint? The lemons weren't too fresh, so I had to dig around to find ones that weren't already soft. But for the price, I don't care too much that I had to find them. lol. read more

Wow! This place is great! I happened upon this produce place while driving down E. Colonial, and it caught my eye by the brightly colored building and number of cars in the parking lot. The place looked pack so I thought I'd drop in to see what all the hype was about. I am happy that I did! The store offers a diverse selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, spices/ seasonings and canned foods, frozen foods, seafood, meat, poultry and other odd and ends. Not only was I impressed by the items I saw, but I was more impressed by the prices, especially where poultry and meat are concerned. I got a whole shopping basket worth of items including one bunch of fresh broccoli, a whole package of large chicken drum sticks (about 12 in the pack), one bunch of green onions, one bunch of asparagus, a bag of baby carrots, a box of Jamaican beef patties, a package of pork chops (about 4 in a pack), a large container of adobo spice, all for about $20. I now understand why this place gets so packed and appears to be popular with the masses. I will definitely be back to stock up on produce, but especially meat and poultry items! read more

Completely shocked and disappointed in this fancy fruit. We typically shop at a different one but have never ever had the issues as we saw in this one. For one the red peppers should have been trashed - I don't know how anyone could have used them. There were fruit flies everywhere. We wanted to get eggplant but they were so soft your fingers went right through them. We walked passed moldy food and we were positive we saw mold on the refrigeration units. When was their last health inspection? As someone who was in food service management for several year, this was a gross sight to see. Will not be going back to this location ever. read more

3 times out of 5 the produce is rotten. The workers for the most part are not concerned with hygiene or honoring the fact they work in perishable goods. Cashiers are consistent and parking is easy hence the one star. read more

Yikes! They definitely don't clean the produce bins out properly and the smell of semi rotted old fruit attracts a lot of flies. The meat is below normal standards and we had to throw all of our out due to it beginning to smell within a few hours of being in our fridge. I didn't feel it was safe to eat! I am giving a star for the veggies though as the peppers looked and smelled amazing and are dirt cheap. Bottom line: if you can stomach the smell stick to the veggies and prepackaged items. read more

If you are in the east Colonial/Union Park/Alafaya area, this little supermarket is worth a visit. They carry a large selection of fresh produce, both local and from Latin America. The store is run by and caters to Latinos, but the people who work there are polite, cheerful and helpful even if you don't speak any Spanish. Not only do they have tons of tomatoes, they have tomatillos too. Several varieties of avocados and mangos are available there. You'll find grapes, greens, okra, herbs, melons, all fresh, as well as every kind of canned or frozen bean imaginable. Latin cookies, candies, and spices are plentiful. There is a wide selection of frozen meat, poultry, and seafood. You won't find the citys best steaks there, but If you want to emulate the Travel Channels' Andrew Zimmern, they do have bull pizzle. I'm gonna have to put it out there and say that I kinda love this place. I live nearby and EVERYTIME I pass by it is packed. I was a little curious, so yesterday I stopped in. Fancy Fruit carries a large selection of fruits and vegetables of all kinds. I was kinda shocked at how much they had. Not just the usual stuff either... I found fresh herbs of all kinds and some unique peppers and squashes. The best part: THE PRICE! Everything was well below what you would pay for the same things at Publix or Winn-Dixie. For example, I got some Golden Delicious Apples for only 69 cents a pound (Publix averages about a dollar or more per pound over that). I also bought fresh basil (99 cents) and fresh rosemary (99 cents also). My husband and I filled a car with produce and paid $20. They also had an extensive meat selection as well as cheeses and frozen goods. While they don't carry enough of other items for you to do ALL your grocery shopping... I think it is worth your time to stop in and by your produce here before hittin' up the grocery store. I'm glad this place is in my neighborhood! read more

This place is a gem...everything is so inexpensive. I can usually get a 5 pound bag of potatoes for $1-$1.75 or 10 limes for 99¢...I was barbecuing one day and I bought a 9 pound pork shoulder for $8! The prices are great and they have an amazing produce, fruit, meat, and cheese selection. Great baked goods mostly latin products and everyone that works there is really personable. Great place to pick up solid main groceries, and a way to try more exotic food that you can't find in Wal-mart or Publix. read more

Loved this little market as it reminded me of the little Cuban markets back home in Miami! Everything seemed very fresh and the prices can't be beat! We will definitely be purchasing our produce and other items here instead of buying them at double or triple the price at the big supermarkets. It seemed clean and organized. I really like Fancy Fruit and when we were moving I was relieved to see that it'd still be on our route home. It has some fruits and vegis that you'll never find in a place like Walmart or Publix and it will beat their prices every time. The workers are always nice and it opens earlier than Aldi's. I've heard some complain of the smell of the place, but really it just smells like the fish market in the back of the store. If I were the owner I might work a little harder to combat that, but as it is, it won't stop me from shopping there. The only thing that'd draw my business from there would be if I were to find a legit Farmer's Market where actual farmer's sell direct from the farm with similar prices and variety (of locally grown crops of course), but here in Orlando, I have yet to find that. read more

They clearly were disrespecting her speaking their foreign tongue between themselves with a smirk! This place smells horrible and is rundown. We were new to the area and did not no any better. I usually shop at Bravo when I want to purchase Latin products, but I decided to stop at this place since it had recently opened and was shopping nearby. Totally loved it. The store was clean, neat, and offered a wide variety of products that I had not previously seen in other Latin markets, such as the neon eggplants. The prices were decent and some items were cheaper than Wal-Mart's prices, such as the bananas. What began as a quick stop simply to browse turned into a shopping trip :) I think I have found my new go-to fave store for Latin products! read more

OMG!! This place rocks!! Not only great prices (it took me two weeks to eat $18 in groceries), but they play the BEST MUSIC in the store too... I was dancing down the aisles.
