    Japanese Breakfast Set
    Alicia J.

I cannot recommend this enough! I've never had a traditional Japanese breakfast before, and loved every bite of this curated meal. Every item and flavor profile seemed intentional. This was a balanced breakfast, and I loved everything. Service was fantastic, as always. Their small and intimate setting, paired with a wonderful staff made for a relaxing and delicious experience. Huge love for this amazing, small, and family-owned spot!

One of the most unique dining experiences in Orlando! Gyukatsu Rose has been on our list for a long time and, now that they're offering brunch, we knew we had to check them out. I got the Wagyu set and my husband had the Maguro set. The process of cooking it yourself in the tiny stove was fun, and the food tasted delicious. Our sets came with rice, a cabbage salad, and some smaller side dishes. I preferred the Wagyu over the Maguro, but both were honestly great. The quality is great for the price. I'm not sure if this is something that I'll crave, but I would definitely take visiting guests here!

What a fun experience for dinner tonight! We've been to a similar restaurant in Japan and came prepared knowing what we were getting into. He got the Waygu set and I got the Curry set. The curry set comes pre-cooked and has a meatloaf-texture since it's a blend. He enjoyed the waygu, I'll get it next time! We loved that they had traditional dressings for the cabbage. The food was tasty and we felt a great price point. The server was friendly and always kept the water flowing. Looking forward to our next visit!

Pros: Location is unique and fun, right in the middle of East End. I love it. The service was great. You get a helpful tutorial at the beginning of the meal, and you get checked on throughout the meal at a perfect rate. Very friendly people. The food was awesome. Very small portions of very high quality side items. All there to accentuate the highest quality of meat. Sliced large enough to get the quality, but small enough to cook with ease. Cons: No cons. They have a tuna option that we didn't get to try, and the steak option we did have, but no in between of both. Tips: They are obligated to recommend anywhere up to 60 seconds of cook time, but don't you dare. You will have a piece of rubber on your hands, and if you like it like that, please don't waste everyone's time by coming here.

This is closest experience you'll get to what it's like to eat at a little corner joint in Japan. In Orlando anyway. The King opened this place up recently, a little eight-ish-top counter restaurant in the middle of one of the busiest food halls in town. I'm hoping it's a roaring success, because I loved every minute of my time here. The counter is lovely. Plenty of space for the cooktops and your tray of food, as well as all the seasonings and sauces they keep on hand. Everything behind the counter is pretty simple. Those little curtains cover the doors and windows, like in Japan. Your host is with you chit chatting with you pretty much the whole time. It's a nice experience. The service was exceptional. You get a little tutorial on how to cook the meat, with a wide range of cooking times. Anywhere between 10 seconds and one minute, they said. I'll tell you right now, if you cook these little cutlets for a minute, it's gonna be jerky. But, it was nice to have the tutorial. The food itself was phenomenal. The way they do things in Japan is provide you smaller portions of higher quality stuff. If you use chopsticks, it makes you eat everything more slowly, allowing you to really enjoy the ingredients. The menu is pretty simple. You get a Wagyu beef set meal, or a tuna set meal. That's it. I ordered the Wagyu Single Cutlet set meal, which included Hokkaido Barley Rice, Suimono Soup, Cabbage Salad, Potato Salad, House Pickles, Onion Sauce, Yakiniku Sauce, and Fresh Wasabi. A ton of little components. No wrong way to eat it. A little of this, a little of that, dipped in this, dipped in that, add a little finishing salt, maybe a little green sauce. Just dig in. You're gonna have to fine tune the time you cook your beef. You want it to me long enough to have the fat loosen up a bit, but not too long to where it gets tough and chewy. All part of the fun. Everything was delicious. Amazing, melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu, the rice was simply delicious, with hints of that barley, yummy soup, a refreshing cabbage salad, nice, acidic pickles, and two sauces that really pack a punch. Solid all around. After our lovely meal, we ordered the Matcha Ice Cream Brulee, and surprise, it was also delicious. Sweet ice cream, with the bitter brulee, and the texture of the crisp sugar post-brulee. Just lovely. Overall, yes, this was lovely. You gotta come experience this.

My bf took me to Gyukatsu Rose fo my birthday treat! I have been wanting to go since they opened. I thought parking could be tough, but when we drove in the parking area, there was one spot waiting for us. We had a beautiful smile welcomed us. The server was very friendly! She explained to us the sauces and what to expect. I could tell she was genuinely wanting us to enjoy what they offer. We fell in love with the atmosphere. My bf got Mexican Coca Cola and I got green tea. I usually don't drink soda. But Mexican Coca-Cola was actually pretty good. The meal I ordered Gyukatsu with curry which was Thursday special. He had wagyu katsu. I put the raw egg on the rice. Egg must be fresh to eat raw. My rice became a very tasty rice. It reminded me when I was growing up in Japan. My beef was well cooked and just perfect amount of curry. I enjoyed every bite of my katsu. My bf enjoyed cooking his Wagyu and enjoyed both dipping sauces. The raw cabbage was even tasty with yummy GOMA dressing. He never eats raw cabbages before. But he loved them. The clear soup was also nice, warm and very fresh made. The amount of the meal was perfect. Of course I wanted to have some good desert. It was ice cream with matcha(but didn't overpower others) My bf didn't try it because he doesn't do any matcha. Forgot to mention: I got a complimentary gift. Yes my desert was very yummy. Experience for us was very perfect. Not super fancy but the people and the foods made our evening so special. They might have many choices. But what I experienced was authentic. I am grateful! Highly recommend here and will go back to Gyukatsu Rose again!

Right inside of east end market. Ordered the wagyu single cutlet and was not disappointed. Lisa was a great server and she explained all the items that were served with the meal and gave me some pairing tips.

Their steak is pretty close to what you can get from Japan! I think the breading is a little thinner than what it's supposed to be, but it still is really really good! For $35, you get the steak and all the sides. This place is pretty worth it. I would definitely make a reservation as they have very limited seating

This meal was an incredible example of traditional gyukatsu. It's a rare opportunity to find a restaurant that does this style so well, and I couldn't be more impressed. The wagyu was deliciously tender, and the cabbage salad with goma dressing was outstanding. The potato salad and pickled bok choy were both incredibly flavorful. The yuzu soda had a subtle citrus note with a crisp sparkle. To finish, the matcha crème brûlée was a fun experience--torching the sugar at the table--and the matcha flavor paired beautifully with the cookie crumble. The service was intimate and attentive. Great conversation and welcoming environment!

Such a fun and delicious experience at Gyukatsu Rose, located inside East End Market in Audubon Park, Orlando. My partner and I arrived around 6pm on a Friday and were able to be seated right away without a reservation. This was pure luck on our part, as it's a small bar area seating with only about 8 seats. After we arrived there was reservation after reservation with a decent wait list for walk ins. The server was so patient, friendly, and knowledgeable, giving us the rundown on the "set meal" concept, where you simply choose the type of meat and portion size you'd like, everything else is set. I went with the Wagyu Single Cutlet and Maguro Katsu and my partner simply got the wagyu. I wanted to try both! All sets include barley rice, soup, cabbage salad, potato salad, house pickles (amazing), and several different sauces/seasonings. A hot stone grill is set in front of you, and you cook your meat to your liking/preferred temperature. It was a fun and romantic date night activity. The food was delicious and fresh. I loved everything.

We were craving the wagyu katsu we had in Japan from Gyukatsu Motomura and remembered Gyukatsu Rose had opened recently, so we decided to try. The wagyu here is tender--almost melting in your mouth with each bite. While I personally would have enjoyed a bit more marbled fat for that extra richness, the quality was still pretty good. I was very pleased they had fresh wasabi, it's hardly seen and it's like the cherry on top for wagyu. The staff is friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Located inside East End Market, finding the entrance was a bit tricky--the main doors were closed because it was already past 7pm, so had to walk around the building to find an open door (in the corner-far left facing Domu). Some directional signs outside would definitely had helped. The space itself had just the counter seating (about nine seats set up inside when we visited) and some outdoor seating available as well. For those missing the Gyukatsu Motomura of Japan, this spot definitely hits the spot. It satisfied my craving and transported me back to my Gyukatsu experiences. Highly recommend securing a reservation when they drop weekly, but I was lucky to snag one for Saturday the morning of!

Absolutely delicious. What a fun date night cooking the wagyu on the hot rock. The menu is small and simple and really focused on mastering the one dish option. The waitress was kind and explained everything to us and the meat was so tender and delicious and very lightly breaded. The sauces were all so yummy and the soup and dessert were wonderful. Each seating is one hour which I did feel was enough time but definitely a quick turn around. Can't wait to come back!! This will definitely become a staple and think the value is great for the price !

I've been to Gyukatsu Rose twice now, and I have to say - I'm a big fan! Small Food Group's concepts never disappoint, and this is the perfect addition to Chef Sony's portfolio. Located inside East End Market right next to Rion's Ocean Room, you'll find the intimate 8 seat counter. You'll definitely want to make a reservation to guarantee yourself a seat (timeslots drop weekly on Resy). They also added a few outdoor tables to accommodate a few more guests per seating. We made reservations for a late lunch/early dinner on Valentine's Day, right when they open at 3pm. We were seated promptly and given the rundown by their friendly, knowledgeable staff. We started with some light, refreshing sake that happened to be BOGO for V-Day. This was our second visit, so we already knew based on our first experience, we were going to want some extra wagyu, so we ordered one additional cutlet to share. Then out comes the beautifully curated tray of yumminess including your lightly breaded and fried wagyu cutlet, rice, suimomo soup, cabbage salad, house pickles, potato salad, onion sauce, house soy, and fresh wasabi -- all for $29 or $48 for a double cutlet. The little stone grills are already hot as soon as you sit down, so you can start searing your wagyu right away. This quality steak can be eaten raw the way it's served or you can flash sear it for just a few seconds on each side. Melts in your mouth like butter and we ate every last bite! I was not familiar with this Japanese ishiyaki concept before experiencing it here, and I can see why it's so popular in Japan. I love that it's one set meal and the only decisions you have to make are choice of sake and how many wagyu cutlets you want. I was also very impressed by how quickly everything comes out -- perfect for us new parents who are running against the clock and can no longer sit through a 2+ hour dining experience with an infant. You can easily get in and out in under an hour if needed. Don't forget to save room for dessert! They seem to be rotating and trying out different options, but both the matcha oreo pudding and the bruleed ice cream were amazing!

So if you're a long time Central Florida resident, then you know that street is very walkable and super cute with the park nearby but also high end. I mean it has a Williams Sonoma, like casually. The restaurant is located at 525 S Park Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789. My boyfriend did get the reservation I think about a month in advance. It very much surprised me as one of my goals is to try new places in Orlando, and this was one that he had been to that I hadn't been to. So A++++ for him. So the restaurant had a super nice atmosphere but was very booked out. There were heart balloons at every table. So the decor was absolutely in the room with us lol. The service was very nice and I feel that they were very attentive and almost felt like maybe they had been trained to provide a certain feeling to customers. I'm sure they had been. Getting into the food, I'm not sure what the bill was. I wasn't allowed to look at it. I will say that I'm sure it was at least $100. I did leave feeling very full, but I do feel like that's a lot of money for me to feel full. We ordered the Misoyaki Butterfish, which was a Miso-glazed Chilean sea bass on a plate with ginger-sake eggplant, butter garlic sautéed spinach, and Japanese potato purée. It's a large plate and we did share, but it was not the whole fish. I think if I pay $45 for a fish, I want the whole fish. My rating is 8.5/10. It was incredibly delicious, but I want the rest of my fish. We also got the Kanpungi, which was fried Korean style boneless chicken bites smothered in a spicy soy sauce glaze. My rating of this is 9/10. I think it was great and was very filling for an appetizer. We accidentally ran into our friends at the restaurant, who had sent us a bottle of sake. The sake was great. We sent back a non-alcoholic cocktail they had and a sake based cocktail. I couldn't tell you what it tasted like, but the service presented and delivered back and forth between our table in a manner I can only describe as carrier pigeon-esque. They did great. I love fanfare. I think for a first date, this is a great place to bring someone you have been talking to for a little bit and want to show that you have a good stable job in this economy and like foods outside of American food. I wasn't on a first date as a note lol. My overall rating is 7.5/10. I mean I think everything was great, but that price stabbed me a little. My boyfriend did suggest to me that it would have been a higher rating if we had gotten one of the rolls. So that's on me. It is in a great walkable neighborhood though. So you are getting charged for ambiance.

The place itself is very art-directed, modern and purposeful. Apparently it's owned by the Kabooki Sushi team, and the quality speaks for itself. It's not your typical sushi restaurant. It's hand rolls. Which means, seaweed is the wrap. Theirs is imported straight from Japan. And for the record, the seaweed is dense, flavorful and also way healthier for you than a mouthful of rice. I sat for the omakase which included a very delicious hamachi appetizer. Then an onslaught of handrolls including lobster, eel, a lean and fatty tuna (toro, the best) and a spicy root vegetable of the name I can't remember. In all, this place has great hours. A wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. And flavors that you can explore because the folks there want you to have fun eating the food as they prepare it. It's very live and fresh. And I'm super grateful it's just a few blocks away because I'll leave you with this. The prices are reasonable too. 5 stars all around. I don't feel they do a great job explaining their menu to people who are unfamiliar with udon, especially cuz there are no pictures for them to see what they're ordering. It was fine for me as I'm super familiar with Japanese food. We got tempura udon, which is something I've been craving, and they did a great job. I highly recommend it. We didn't feel like a cocktail so I got an iced tea and he got a viet coffee but they served it in a cocktail glass so it was such a small amount... def shoulda been served in a tall glass, cuz why do I have to be slowly sipping that c'mon. The service was good. They were all friendly and courteous. Oh, parking is a nightmare. There's a lot in the back but you'll be lucky to find a spot. There's street parking but that's also crazy. Def not their fault but just be aware. All in all a nice place. I'd def come back again for their food.

Of the zensai (appetizers), I've tried the Tatsuta-Age, which was pretty tasty. Hot and crispy with good flavor. The udon is also top notch. They make it in house. Perfect chewy texture, what Taiwanese would call "QQ" I realized after my second visit that I still have not tried an udon with hot broth. I've tried the Spicy Miso Tan-Tan Udon, which was quite tasty, although a little on the richer/heavier side. I have also tried the Mentaiko Tsukimi Udon which was refreshing in the cold broth. I paired it with an add-on of sliced beef, which was delicious, they serve it on the side so you can add to whatever dish on your own. What I wouldn't recommend... The Viet Coffee with sesame foam and crushed sesame seeds was hard to drink. I loved the initial flavors but the foam got a little greasy and clumpy when mixed with the crushed sesame seeds, particularly toward the second half of the coffee. I wouldn't order it again. I would be interested to see any updates they've made recently but with so many new restaurants on Mills, I may choose those first.

They offer multiple chef-selected dining packages, and for this occasion, we chose "The Jaunt." The service was top-notch from the moment we walked in. They greeted us warmly and acknowledged our anniversary every step of the way, which made the night feel extra special. The restaurant executes a beautiful blend of Japanese and French inspired dishes. From the appetizers to the desserts, every dish was well crafted and memorable. It's hard to pick a favorite because everything felt unique, but our most memorable dishes were the trout asparagus croustade, the nanatsuboshi rice, the wagyu, and the desserts. The Bomb Yuzu and Crown Melon were fresh, delicious, and an experience of their own. They ended the night with a box of sweet treats with a thoughtful message, along with mint matcha lattes to go. It was such a special touch, and we even enjoyed them the next day. For those who drink, they also offer a wide range of drink tasting packages, as well as by-the-glass and bottle options. Overall, Omo by Jont is an unforgettable dining experience and perfect for a special occasion.

First off, the setting is gorgeous sitting around the chef's counter. Sitting at the very end, it felt like a private dining experience with my partner and the chefs/staff who were putting on such a show. Each course was thoughtfully explained and presented with such fine care, really making me appreciate each bite and ponder about the ingredients being used. Hearing about the hyper-local farms and what they provide was really unique, while also appreciating the fish, rice, and vinegar they import from Japan for authenticity. Overall a great blend. The food is expertly prepared, though I wish they leaned more into the sushi and Japanese inspiration for the entire evening. The fresh fish and sushi courses were the highlights of the show and make for a peculiar parallel to the later deeper flavor dishes like the braised short rib. Possibly this is averted if we had splurged on the wagyu supplement but still felt like the menu takes a turn towards the end. I can't speak more highly of the service here. The entire team was incredible throughout the entire evening with an energy and passion that only comes with this caliber of restaurant. With Sushi Saint and Perla's now all here, we did notice when we went to leave how tricky the parking lot becomes. Even with the valet, we struggled to leave with cars stacked up trying to park - would make sure you arrive with plenty of time. Overall, Soseki was a great experience and worth its most recent star and price. We had incredible food served by impressive people that made for an amazing celebration.

Definitely made the occasion feel special from start to finish. First off, book ahead. Seating is extremely limited and this is the kind of place that fills up for a reason. Chef Tony runs the counter with a level of precision and calm confidence that you immediately feel the moment you sit down. It's not just about the food, it's the pacing, the storytelling, and how intentional every course feels. The omakase flows beautifully. Nothing feels rushed, nothing feels dragged out. Each piece builds on the last. You can tell there's real thought behind the progression. The fish is pristine, but what stood out more was how balanced everything was. Clean flavors, subtle creativity, and zero gimmicks. A few bites genuinely caught me off guard in the best way. That moment where you pause and just look at the person next to you like... yeah, that was special. If you're going, get the drink pairing. It actually elevates the experience instead of just being an add-on. Everything is thoughtfully matched and enhances each course without overpowering it. Service matched the experience. Attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable without sounding scripted. The whole room feels intimate and dialed in. Chef Tony made the experience feel personal, not transactional, which is rare even at high end omakase spots. If you're in Orlando and serious about sushi, this is a must. Not just for the quality, but for the experience as a whole.
