I have not been here in years. Since a few asian stores are nearby me or Lotte is my go to I forget this store still exists. Located in the small location in mills - Tiny supermarket but has loads of items. They offer fresh vietnamese hot and cool deli items such as summer rolls, fried egg rolls, coconut milk desserts like che', and sesame balls just to name a few. The summer rolls have shrunk in size last I recall but you get 3 pcs with peanut sauce (shrimp filled) for $3.50 - the non shrimp ones are $3. The snacks dept are priced reasonably. some chips/candies are under $2. The japan items are a little pricier. Staff here are friendly except for the cashier she has a little attitude when it comes to reprinting receipts. I bought 2 summer rolls - 4 chips 2 bags gummy candy and 1 box tea for a total of $24. I may come back again because some of the items they do sell I have not found elsewhere unless I do a little drive to west colonial area. read more

This is the cutest market ever! It's small and quaint, off mills. The staff is soooo nice!! There's aisles and aisles of amazing foods, dishes, teas, the list goes on. I was amazed by all the stuff they had. Things I haven't seen in years! They even had some of the viral tiktok foods. I will definitely be back, and often. Yup, 11 years later I still come to this store pretty often actually. I wanted to do an update because it blows my mind that their handmade Vietnamese summer rolls have only gone up like a dollar since 2014, that's crazy to me because unlike other stores that are looking to price gouge, these guys just are legit. I usually get my Massaman curry here too, and of course will inevitably get Japanese snacks as well. It's small compared to other Asian grocery stores in the area but definitely a gem. read more

This has always been my go to Asian market in central Florida! They always have the best items that you can't find at other specialty markets. I come here because they always have what I'm looking for PLUS some! The produce is fresh and at a great price! Shelf's are always full and filled with variety. Service is always friendly and they always give me a drink from the cooler on my way out. It's little touches like that which are superior to chain places. I was marinating some meat to prepare for tonight's dinner when I noticed the soy sauce was running low. May as well put that on the shopping list. As I was out this Saturday afternoon driving down Mills Avenue, Dong A Market just happened to be ahead. All this time I have lived here, I have never stopped in. First time for everything. Glad I stopped in too. Dong A Supermarket is big and well stocked. If you are looking for something that a recipe calls for in that oriental cookbook you got for your birthday, or if you like cooking stir fry like I do, chances are Dong A Market will have it. Spices and sauces, any type of rice or noodle, canned vegetables and fruits, fresh produce, dinnerware and cookware, it is all here. I need to by a new wok, so now I know where to go. I found an industrial size wok, but I do not need a wok that big. But I really do want that industrial size wok! The employees are friendly, and the market is well lit. Several aisles are narrow, so just take your time to maneuver around and take the time to check out some neat stuff. And I forgot to mention, Dong A Market has a good selection of beers from the orient. As I said, this is my first visit here. But it will not be the only time I stop in here. Since moving to Winter Park from southern CA, Dong A has been my most favorite neighborhood Asian market. I'm so thankful they are less than a mile from me. They have a vast variety of items especially if you enjoy cooking and looking to try new ingredients. Their items are reasonably priced. Quick access for the last minute things to make your dish tasty The front counter lady is very helpful. Knows her store like the back of her hand! The small space could get overwhelming with all the goodies they have spread around... They offer a fresh deli counter of take away type items, even a few Vietnamese desserts (che) I do have 1 con. Highlights: HAWAII GOODS!! Hawaiian and aloha maid canned drinks. Aloha shoyu. Laulau, kalua pig, Portuguese sausage, and zippys chili. They do not have any fresh meat section. They don't have fresh seafood. Just shrimp that we saw. Most of their meats and seafood is frozen. They have hotpot ingredients which is the other reason we came here. You can also grab boba making ingredients. They had a huge selection. We walked out with a bill of $175+. For three people and it didn't even look like that much food. read more

I'll admit I love checking out an Asian market as much as the next guy, wandering the aisles wondering what exotic new taste adventure waits around the next corner, but even I was blown away at this place. The selection is amazing, from spices to wine to produce, hot foods, and dried noodles of every type. I was in heaven! This was not a shopping trip, merely a time killer before the lantern festival but we still managed to snag a few things to try later. Service was fine, just a nice lady checking us out, but she was friendly and we got in and out quick. Dong A is an Asian supermarket that has a good selection of some hard to find items. I have been coming here for years and have found them a bit better priced than Asian markets on the east side of Orlando. Five stars for great customer service and abundance of products! We headed to Dong A because I needed dark mushroom soy sauce by Pearl River Bridge and this place had that & soooo much more. Dong A is a huge market on Mills Ave., across from Chi-kin, down the street from Royal Tea & further down, Pig Floyds, I am telling you, you can make a day of this outing!! Dong A has it's own small parking spaces. As we entered, we were taken aback by how big it is and how filled to the brim it is. Directly in front is the register, yes, one, that is all I saw. To the immediate right, a section of all the ramen, pancit, brands you can think of. Further right, refrigerated/freezer section with so many frozen dumplings, gyoza, noodles, seafood. To the left, rice, lots of rice, bulk if you want. A fridge with drinks, also. We asked where to find mushroom soy sauce, she said, "middle aisle 7, on the left, in the bottom" and there it was, she knew her stuff. Then we needed pure cane sugar vinegar, we went over to ask and she walked back with us and directed us, great service. We wandered the aisles of so many sauce, vinegars, spices, mushrooms, pots, woks, bowls, plates, skimmers. The produce aisle is not that big but it was full. There is a small area for prepared foods that did not look to inviting but it is nice to know they have it. Prices are great. read more

I remember coming here as a kid about 15 years ago, this place was very popular with Chinese locals before the big asian supermarkets came to Orlando. This was on of the OGs for Chinese grocery shopping for Floridians. The smell gives me so much nostalgia and some of the employees I knew who worked here are unfortunately gone already. There used to be no space to park outside (parking lot is pretty small) but now I only see a few cars outside every time I visit. Dong A is crammed full of goods, piled high in cardboard boxes that reach the ceiling. In fact, there's so much stuff that it's a bit difficult to push a shopping cart around without accidentally hitting some of the products on sale. Note that because their volume of goods is so high, there are some expired products on display - make sure to always check expiration dates when buying from here. There isn't a super great veggie collection nowadays; it's difficult for Dong A to compete with the giant Chinese grocery stores that constantly restock. The hot foods section isn't as big or as glamorous as the bigger grocery stores either. Prices here aren't really competitive, I find that the products in bigger stores are generally cheaper. However, I still come to Dong A for very specific items. Stuff I sometimes can't find in other grocery stores. For instance, Dong A sells massive buckets of popping boba. They also sell all the okonomiyaki supplies I need. So, while Dong A's best days are past and it won't be winning "Best of Orlando ethnic market (1999&2000)" any time soon, it has still retained its charming characteristics of being a mom & pop shop. In an era of big box grocery stores, it can be refreshing to shop here and away from the chaos of a typical Chinese grocery store. I think Dong A falls somewhere around three stars but my nostalgia has boosted it to four. read more

They are a Great family shop. She works hard 7 days a week. She has a niece She has two dogs... works truly hard working.... Not easy to do things by herself. She deserves to be recognized. I was there to get some gifts for Thanksgiving. I could park in Colonial 2 hours on the main road. She closes at 18:00 PM. She has to cook at home. ..take her of 2 dogs and what not!! read more

Love this place! I've been to so many of the other markets around the Mills/50 area and this one has been by far the best. The store is pretty large and always has everything we need or are looking for. It's fun to walk up and down every aisle and look at all the different things they have. You could easily spend an hour or so looking at everything they sell. We try to make a list of the things we need to make it a little easier to shop once we arrive and to not get lost spending hours looking at all of the different variations of things. My favorite aisle is the one with all of the saki! It's fun to try a bunch of different kinds, especially when they are sold at a decent price. Another aisle I really like is the one with all of the noodles. There are so many different kinds and it's fun to look at all of them. Will be making lo mein soon with some I bought last week :) Not only do they sell food items, but they also sell dishware such as bowls, plates, chopsticks, saki bottles and cups and they are all very cheap. It was great to be able to buy things for a dinner we were making and also pick up a couple sauce dishes that we did not have at home for dipping purposes all in the same store! Since I'm Duke, I'd better write a review - might be a condition for sustained dukedom! Don't be looking for Whole-Foods- or Publix-like ambiance in here, folks (hahahahahaha! Don't think I can stop laughing any time soon now that that comparison has crept into my consciousness), but, I'll bet they WILL take your groceries to your can if you need the help. Cuz helpful they are: dude who's the owner's husband or something is forever asking me if I needed help in two tongues (Mandarin and Cantonese). But the aisles, narrow to begin with, may be jammed with open boxes at the end, and not very conducive to anyone who is thinking about pushing a cart. Oh they have a few carts alright, but if you do engage one, pray that you're the only one on wheels going your same route. The business is Vietnamese-owned, catering to the Chinese clientele, and with some selections in Thai, Malay, and Filipino products. If you do shop here, don't forget they have a whole section to the right after you enter where there are frozen products. They also have fresh produce, but my one peeve is the way they package them (wrapped tight - no breathing - for many of the Chinese veggies), and/or the fact that they are not very fresh to begin with. Many a time, what looked OK at the store would be limp and half-dead upon opening - even a sprinkling of water and refrigerating will often fail to bring them back to life. Happened again this past weekend. Not sure what the solution is, other than to resolve not to buy produce from them any more. One time I bought a carrot from them, which I don't usually do. It turned out OK - not dead, and quite sweet, but it was 99 cents a pound. So in summary, pretty good selection for such a small store for "ethnic" foods, and that gentleman who roams the aisles is very friendly and helpful, but beware of veggies that are DOA. read more

It's a smaller space but they have pretty much everything you will need at lower prices than Lotte. Parking can be troublesome but it's worth it knowing you're supporting local. Looking for a decent Asian market? You do the dong. Case closed. Even if you don't buy anything in here, just walking through the aisles is a fun time waster. Asian beers, numerous selections of Sake, a giant aisle of teas, more bags of ramen than you can shake a stick at. Fascinating produce and seafood sections. Plateware. Sauces. All sorts of interesting stuff. I remember a few years ago picking up some things we needed to make sushi at home On our most recent visit, we netted organic ponzu, Otokoyama sake, Shanghai bok choy, chili sauce, kimchee ramen, and those packets of wasabi seaweed which are like crack cocaine. Dong-A Company owns two Orlando businesses that I am aware of: an Asian imports store at the intersection of Colonial and Mills that has everything from waving cats to coin frogs to Qing Dynasty vase reproductions and much, much, more. The other store, which is the one being reviewed here, is an Asian supermarket, but it also carries bric-a-brac and restaurant supplies (tableware, woks, stuff like that). So, this is a large business overall and apparently a pretty successful one. The interior of Dong-A's supermarket took me back to Asian grocers I went to in San Francisco's Chinatown when I lived there: very cluttered, narrow little aisles, and not exactly the cleanest--I mean, how could it ever be when you have all those bottles of sauces and some ten thousand soup bowls to dust? That said, the owners and staff are nice and helpful and the selection is simply beyond--it's probably the most-comprehensive Asian grocer I've ever visited. They even have an Indonesian aisle, in example, which is very hard to find in most Asian supermarkets. The owners obviously are Viet, and the announcements on the loudspeaker are in Vietnamese, so the emphasis on Viet and Thai food here is very strong whereas their selection of Chinese items is not as good as many (Chinese-owned) grocers, expectedly. They do have a good selection however of Japanese foodstuffs which is also pretty rare to find. There are some things that really stand out: --The tea aisle. This is the best selection of Asian teas I've ever seen, and it really is outstanding. You can find tea from Taiwan especially here that you seldom see imported to the US. --They have prepared, homemade, Viet snacks like pork buns and Viet desserts ready to go over by the produce section in a cooler. The chè especially looked good. --The prices on dishes and tableware, while not dirt-cheap are very reasonable and the tableware is meant for restaurant service, so it's a good place to find--especially for students--affordable dishes that are also quite sturdy. --The layout, while well-marked with overhead signs, is a bit confusing if you're used to Chinese grocers. For example, some items are grouped by nation of origin--like all the Japanese goods are together--but not all: you will find pickled vegetables in jars far from the sauces whereas often in other stores they're in the "sauce and jarred things aisle". Indonesia has its own soy sauces, so they're over with the sambal and other Indo goods not with the Chinese soy sauce. Noodles are located in several areas, too, so I suggest looking around carefully. --The staff are very nice and helpful, so if you have trouble finding things, do ask them. I think anyone in need of a quality Asian grocer will be pleased withe Dong-A. read more

The lady at the front register told me the price when I was walking down the aisle and when I got to the register, she suddenly changed the price. I got home and unfroze the drink and I was spoiled. I went there for the first time today. The Vietnamese staple items are good quality. However, I was disappointed to find several Japanese pantry items were very expired, up to a year or more. For example, Hawaiian pickles, Japanese takuan (pickled daikon radish), zhacai (Chinese style pickled mustard green). The Japanese-style snacks and candies were fresh, I guess because they are popular rather than niche items. At checkout, the lady at the register had disappeared for several minutes. This seems to be not a rare occurrence. I guess you can't expect to leave in a hurry. People are friendly, at least! Unless I'm making SE Asian meals that night, I think I will stick with the many other East Asian groceries along West and East Colonial. Parking is easier, checkout is faster and prices are the same or better! read more

I think this is one of the 1st Chinese markets that open in Orlando,I remember they rented VHS tapes back then,I think it's still the same family that owns the market,and they are still very nice and helpful, I do have to say they're frozen department is not very up-to-date, but it's a nice little market. read more
