Went here for the first time this past weekend. It was a good experience, albeit the majority of…read morethe employees seemed disgruntled and/or somber. I wasn't there to make friends and none actually ticked me off. The ones more genuine and seemed "happy" to be there were the men and women in the little separated cooked food area when you first walk in (you pay separately there, so maybe they are not affiliated with the actual store). Picked up some Asian (Chinese?) roasted pork strips (butt or shoulder?), which later turned out to be as good as it looked. Entered the market itself and was pretty amazed at how much they had to offer. I picked up some fresh chicken wings and goat meat (plan to smoke them) from the meat department. The employee there was not as disgruntled, but wasn't amicable either. I ended up picking up a few fresh vegetables, packaged spice mixes & bottled sauces, and what was left of the "real" wasabi (not the light green stuff a vast majority of sushi places provide). There was a lot of hustle and bustle happening at this place no doubt. I will return when in need of any Asian flavors or vegetables; or for more of that delicious roasted pork. Unless of course I find an Asian market closer to home that offers the array of products I want. My only real disappointment was having a cucumber rot within 1.5 days and having to toss it.

I did not encounter the grumpy man that everyone has mentioned. It was a young lady and she was pleasant and very interested in meeting my service dog. I really enjoy their selection of teas... Now I need to go back and try to find it! Also, I love all the tea pots and cozies they sell :) so cute! Brings me back to London....

I headed straight for them and decided not when I saw the crazy price tag. We browsed the rest of the store, saw some overpriced Cadburry ($6.75 for a bar of chocolate? I can get this at Walmart.) Saw some Christmas and Easter candies, which were kind of off putting considering it's June. Decided on a Bottle of Butterscotch Soda because we thought it would taste like Butter Beer (It did). None of this is bad in comparison to the attitude of the guy working. He was very short with us and rude. I understand if you might be having a bad day, but "You're welcome" when someone says thank you or an acknowledgement of anything said would have been nice. All we were greeted with were grunts. No wonder the place was empty.

In Indonesia years later I lost my taste buds to an extremely red hot sauce which looked like ketchup. From then on, I've dared to try the most extreme chiles in all their forms, from raw to pureed. Then I had Screamin' Torture. The title befits the product. It is produced exclusively for Tijuana Flats restaurant and one must sign a release form upon purchase. After my experience I can see why. It doesn't say Ghost Chilies on the ingredient list, merely Cayenne Peppers with oleoresin cayenne as another addition. But I really wonder if the snuck some of the hottest pepper in the world into that bottle. I poured a good sized dollop onto my taco and took a bite. About five minutes later I was tearing up and my nose was running freely. Ten minutes later I was hallucinating. There's a video on YouTube of a guy eating a raw Ghost Pepper. He was on the ground in 20...I didn't recover for about 45 minutes and several scoops of ice cream later. Now I use a tiny smidge on my food. And yes, the next morning was painful too.
