Having visited Italy three times, the most recent was just last month, I'm a HUGE critic when it comes to proper Italian food. I have lived in Lake Nona for four years now, Orlando for a decade, and to just be discovering this spot now feels like a crime. How is it possible that no one is talking about this place!? Emilio and his family are Italian from Napoli and Rome, and it absolutely shows! They are so kind and welcoming, the atmosphere is everything you come to expect from a true trattoria or Osteria. Emilio was our server tonight and he was brilliant! He provided recommendations, chatted with us about our day and was so amazingly warm. You can tell he truly wants everyone there to feel welcome and appreciated. My wife and I both ordered the Diavola pizza and we started with the bruschetta. The pizza is pure perfection, crust thin enough to see light through, but with enough bounce and chew to make every bite an experience. You can taste the freshness in the sauce, true to their roots they use San Marzano tomatoes, garlic, oregano, and olive oil with fresh basil throughout the sauce. The Diavola is just spicy enough to set it aside from a basic salami/pepperoni style pizza and it is a welcomed warmth in every mouthful. The simplicity of the Bruschetta is something magical, fresh bread sliced and toasted with minced tomato, garlic, onion, and olive oil. If you've never had it, I can't recommend it enough. All in all I can say that outside of a trip to Italy, this is the most authentic and delicious food you'll ever have and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to order pizza from another spot in town again. I've been to my fair share of Italian spots around Orlando and honestly most of them are just... fine. Piazza Italia is different. The moment you try their pizza you just get it. The crust alone tells you everything -- it's got that perfect chew, slightly crispy on the edges, soft in the middle. It tastes authentic in a way that's hard to fake and most places don't even come close. But honestly? The garlic cheese bread is what really got me. I wasn't even expecting much -- garlic bread is garlic bread, right? Wrong. This is hands down one of the best I've had in all of Florida. I don't know what they're doing differently but whatever it is, please never stop. I was eating it way too fast and had zero shame about it. I wanted to love everything about this place! It's a hot spot for the locals and the pizza is delicious. It has a nice chew and the restaurant is nice and feels like you're not in lake nona. I was severely disappointed by the chicken picatta. The chicken was thick and rubbery and it had no flavor! The pasta was just lemon and liquid. It was almost if a whole jar of capers were thrown on as well. There was zero quality control in it. The gnocchi had a thick layer of cheese on it and wasn't great either. I got a tiramisu to go and boy did I regret it! It was full of whipped cream and chocolate syrup. It was so thin and no mascarpone and you can see and taste the uncooked ladyfingers. It was a very small short piece and very tasteless, it went into the trash when I got home. I was looking forward to a treat after the kids went to bed, but nope. If I were in the area, I would come back for pizza. Only the pizza. It just really missed the mark for me that day. read more

Hubby ordered the the lobster ravioli with Shrimp. It was very good. There were 5 large lobster stuffed raviolis and 4 shrimp. I think it was $32. Wish there was more that came with the dish like 8 ravioli, for the price. We also ordered the garlic bread and added the cheese on it (extra $2). My son ordered the Stromboli, I think he wishes he could have picked what was inside it, he isn't a fan of peppers. Service was good, food was good, and it came out hot. So close to my house and yet never been until now! A friend of mine suggested it and I am so glad we came. Close to Nona blue and right next to Menchie's. Place is cute! Was seated right away and our waitress Juliana and was so sweet. Everyone in there seems to be from Italy! I love that they were singing and talking to each other in Italian. I got a glass of Chianti, price was very reasonable ($9) and it was really good. We started with the pear Gorgonzola salad, it was refreshing and so good. For entree we ordered the classic margarita pizza (delicious also), and the lobster and shrimp ravioli, oh my god, these are so good. For dessert we shared the profiterole, also amazing! I shall start with service... I would rate it as less than 15% level of service. I felt ignored and when I could get there attention they would look at me like I was bothering them. The ambiance was fine, I felt comfortable there. Good crowd, not too load, it felt good. The food, I have mixed feelings about it... The pizza was really good! We had two pizzas and they both were really good. The Caprese Salad was fundamentally wrong. The middle of pizza is so soggy and almost raw it's difficult to eat it. We had the meatballs, tasted bland and lack of any distinct flavors. Basic margarita pizza which has three ingredients or maybe four was missing fresh basil. Just very sloppy overall and food lacks any type of flavors. Holy cow this place is incredible! I came with my friends who live in the area and eat here once a week. I was not disappointed. The staff is so friendly and recognized my friends when we walked in. There is a family vibe through the entire place. The Chef is a women and who I assume is the mother of the team here. Everyone was so nice and hustling to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was to die for. I ordered the June special which is a slow cooked short rib and meatball rigatoni. While we waited we ordered the garlic bread with cheese. It was AMAZING! Then when one margarita pizza and rigatoni arrived I was in heaven. The most perfectly prepared pizza in my life. To add to the experience the short rib melted off the bone and into my mouth. A group of 5 of us came to this location on Christmas Eve. I had heard great things from a friend so I was eager to try it. We started with some wine and drinks. The wine was delicious and the sever, extremely attentive to our table. Next we got the bruschetta as an appetizer which I thought as really really good. That along with the bread could have been my main meal. But I decided to get one of their seafood hot plate specials. I didn't love everything on my plate, but appreciated the things that were not fried. It just didn't taste as fresh as I would have liked. I think next time I'll stick to the pizza. My family's new favorite Italian restaurant! We discovered this restaurant on Mother's Day when they were the only nearby place to get us in. Since then, we've returned several times. Even on the busiest days, the service and food were terrific. A family's labour of love, everything from the pizza to the pasta was amazing, fresh, and delicious. I'm gluten-free, so finding a place that will make the whole family excited to go out (myself included) can be a challenge. My family's favorite dishes are the Capricciosa pizza, the Marsala, and Norcina pizza. They don't have gluten-free pizza but can make all pasta dishes gluten-free. In the past, I've ordered the Carbonara and Alfredo with gluten-free pasta, which were so yummy. I probably looked so silly doing a little happy dance with my gf, Alfredo pasta, but as someone who rarely gets to eat my old favorites, this place is a treat and a gem. read more

I went to celebrate on Father's Day. I know the food is fantastic because I have eaten in this restaurant more than 10 times. But this visit and the previous visit the service was horrible. This last time did it for me. When we walked in the restaurant was busy. The lady told us to sit ourselves. Nobody came to our table, so we stopped a waitress and asked to see a menu. We waited again to see if anyone would bring us bread and water. Again, we had to ask for it. We finally had a young girl ask us if we were being helped. I let her know that we had been waiting a while and that she was the first person to acknowledge us after we seated ourselves. Finally a waitress came to take our order. I ordered gnocchi with bolognese and my lady ordered chicken Marsala with pasta. The food arrived and I have been to this restaurant many times before. My plate looks like they mixed marinara sauce with bolognese and I was served with the same tray that it was cooked with. Normally the gnocchi is served in a bowl. Then my lady got her plate the chicken was chewy and the pasta was in a vodka sauce in the same plate with the chicken Marsala. The waitress took the plate back and brought another plate with the chicken and pasta with Marsala sauce over it. That was the final straw. We finished our plates and asked for our check. No one ever asked if we wanted to order desert. We paid our check and left no tip. And, I will not eat there again. The food is fantastic! The service is just bad read more

I never like leaving a negative review and often do my best not to. Now i will start by saying I ordered for delivery. I cannot speak for an in restaurant experience. The delivery was fast. I ordered a decent amount for the family. Pasta al pesto, Fettucine Alfredo, Baked Ziti, apollo Parmigiana and a 13' meat lovers pizza. Everything was packaged well and came with utensils, napkins and sides of bread (which i will say the bread was very good) Pizza was a tad bit burnt which okay wood fire i assume or would hope it was but that was tolerable and flavoring was good. Now to the family style meals. Each had chicken add ons which the add ons are 5.00 per plate (okay still didn't mind at all) I thought that was fair for chicken. But when i opened the containers the quality was awful. presentation was awful (even for delivery standards) and chicken looked like it came out of a can. and had a rubbery texture. Moving on to the worst part that made me throw everything that had chicken in it in the trash. when i cut the chicken cutlet from the chicken (pollo) parmigiana it was pink(raw) and cold. If you are anyone like myself who has previously had salmonella poisoning chances are you would have tossed it as well. As an American Italian I will say i'm very disappointed and will not be ordering from here again. This restaurant is classy and easy going at the same time.. but that is not the best part. Food here is legit. Real Italian food at it's best. The tomato sauce is delicious and that is the base for a lot of the dishes. We had a special pasta with a short rib ragu and meatball served with pappardelle pasta.... that was delicious. The carbonara pasta was creamy and al dente but for me the best thing was probably the linguini vongole. A very delicate sauce and plenty of clams. Just perfect. I wish I could try everything but .... impossible. The common opinion was everything was DELICIOUS and on point. Pizzas, salads, all pastas, etc. Everyone left happy. Service is outstanding. Reyna our waitress was phenomenal. Always attentive and efficient. She was super friendly and the owner is a great character in this picture. He is friendly, loves kids, Soccer and is a great host. My favorite Italian restaurant in Orlando and happens to be right by my house. Owned and operated by a family from Naples (Italy, not Florida, LOL), the wood fired pizza and past dishes are amazing! My favorite is the OG Margherita pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. Mediterranean salad and house balsamic dressing is a refreshing and sizable starter dish. My husband stopped in at this place on a whim. We were actually planning to eat at another restaurant, but when we saw this place we changed our minds and I'm so glad we did. When we arrived at around 2pm on a Thursday we were the only ones at the restaurant. It was very relaxing and quiet. My husband had the Delicata Pizza and I ordered the Penna allá Vodka (I added in chicken). Both entrees were so delicious! Best Penne allá Vodka that I've ever had! I also tried my husbands pizza and it was AMAZING. I'm somewhat of a snob with the type of sausage some places use on their pizza, but the one here was so good! I attended a very nice event here, for a friend's birthday party. They are known for their Italian oven and the first appetizers were garlic cheese flat breads served with marinara, charred nicely and oozing garlicky goodness. The following antipasta plates featured Italian meats, cheeses, peppers, olives and roasted Eggplant which made for excellent toppings. I ordered a special burrata pizza with prosciutto, basil, truffle & mushroom. It was delicious, well charred, but the moisture from the burrata did make the center of the pizza soggy. I would note that 2 days in the cardboard take home box dried out the remaining pizza perfectly. The Spaghetti Carbonara was served just how I like it (no peas, plenty of pancetta) and it was enjoyed. Oddly, as we were leaving the staff had multiple pizzas from a chain restaurant delivered, making me wonder about management policies. The owner just shrugged when I questioned this. The staff was not attentive, mostly looking like they wanted to be somewhere else, and we were the only large party on a slow Thursday night. We were picking up family at the airport around dinnertime, so we decided to eat somewhere nearby that wasn't a chain restaurant. We also haven't been to the Lake Nona area in a few years, so we wanted to check it out. We selected Piazza Italia. I had made a reservation from their website, but it was a weekday, so it wasn't super crowded anyway. We were brought a few half-slices of bread and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We could definitely have used/eaten more bread, but it was never offered. I ordered the Peperonata di Rigatoni - mixed peppers with sausage in traditional red sauce over rigatoni. It was very delicious, and the sauce had a lot of flavor to it as well. There was plenty of sauce on the pasta, and extra bread would have come in handy for sopping up all the goodness. As an entree, I decided to stick to one of my favorite pastas, which is pesto! At first, I thought the portion was quite small but it was actually very filling. The pasta noodle tasted homemade and the pesto sauce tasted very fresh and healthy. Our server was incredibly sweet and patient as she offered to take many group photos for us!
