I only came here once. The experience was mediocre and didn't give me any reason to come back. I got the chicken and waffles with strawberry butter. I remember the chicken being extremely dry and the waffles being crispy and having no fluffiness at all. The service was weak too. Having to flag the waitress down for refills and not being asked a how the food was. The waitress had no issue attending to the table next to us of regulars, but ignored my party. Metro Diner is a classic diner. I grew up in NY where there are so many amazing diners but you don't really see a ton of that in Central Florida. Years ago my friends and I went to Gainesville to try the shrimp and grits because it was on the show Diners, Drive ins and Dives. It was amazing! So I was very happy to see some of them popping up around the Orlando area. We have gone to this one a few times and there is something for everyone. It's casual but clean and comfortable inside. Metro diner is one of my sons favorite places to go eat. He is ten and absolutely DEVOURS a Belgian waffle with chicken fingers and fries. Luckily for me there is a $12.99 chicken fingers deal that comes with a side salad and a drink which is incredibly reasonably these days. Also absolutely delicious. The chicken tenders are just that... so tendie!!! I usually eat the side salad and get a desert. The banana pudding bread pudding is an absolutely mouth watering. 10/10. I wish this was year round but the seasons bring changes in flavors as they always do. The service here is always really great and they very attentive to the tables. The Metro Diner is a great spot to go to at any time, for any meal. I'm personally a big breakfast guy, so I love to keep it simple and get a classic, filling meal. This time I went with eggs, sausage, and hash browns. This meal also came with an English muffin. I opted to add on some blueberry pancakes, and I definitely didn't regret that. The food is good here and it comes out pretty quickly. It does get super packed especially on a Sunday afternoon. The servers are very friendly as I've never really had a poor experience. I think it's just the wait sometimes and the place looks a little yucky sometimes too but I think it's just because it's older and they get extremely busy sometimes. One of my local favs ! No matter how busy they are, service is amazing. Today our server was Kristin and she was so sweet and catered to my little one. Our food came out hot and fresh and coffee was freshly brewed. My go to is always the cinnamon roll waffle and my little one loves the kids pancake breakfast with powdered sugar and a side of sausage patties and apple juice. The ambiance is like a family dinner as other tables engage in conversation and the dining area inside is spacious. They also offer outdoor seating as I saw people dining with their dogs. The Fam and I stopped in last night for dinner while out and about shopping in the area. We planned to end our day in Casselberry so we could use our $5 coupons to Metro Diner before they expire next month. We were greeted and seated right away and our server Christin was wonderful. Christin was super friendly and attentive she also let us use both $5 coupons during the same meal, thank you Christin!! I love the look of Metro Diner, It's got a relaxed American diner vibe. The only issue with this store is its bit dirty and definitely needs a good deep cleaning. Something notable about this store that I love is the four private restrooms available for customers. They're large enough for a wheelchair to get in and the door bolt indicates if they are in use or vacant to others outside the room. I ordered the meat lovers omelette with hash browns and rye toast ($12.69); mom and Nancy both ordered the fried chicken Benedict $12.99). Our food was out in less than 15 minutes and everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. Honestly , I should have ordered the fried chicken Benedict because it was perfectly cooked, crispy and juicy. We also ordered coffee with our meals. For me the coffee was a bit on the weak side but it was freshly made and Christin did a great job keeping us topped off. I've been here a few times and I absolutely LOVE the Chicken & Waffles here. They come with a strawberry butter and the waitress/waiter will mix syrup and hot sauce for your fried chicken! It's quite literally the only thing that I order here and I am never disappointed. It is a cozy family diner with huge specials boards for customers to see. The service is always great and the people there are always courteous. This morning I called to place a take out order for a waffle and Dave, like all of the staff I've encountered there, was very pleasant and super helpful. Today we visited Metro Diner in Casselberry Commons around 4:00 PM on Valentine's Day for a late brunch, excited because we've had great experiences at other Metro Diner locations. Unfortunately, this visit resulted in food poisoning. We were seated quickly in a homey booth and had a pleasant server. We ordered biscuits and gravy as a starter, which we strongly believe caused the illness. The dish tasted good at the time and was the only thing that we really touched, but the person who ate more of it became significantly more sick than the other. Shortly after leaving the restaurant we felt nauseous but thought nothing of it, but about an hour and a half later we were both vomiting uncontrollably and unable to keep anything down. For our entrées, one hash bowl was completely burnt bitter and inedible, while the other meal was fine aside from a substitution issue. However, these issues were minor compared to the severity of getting sick on such a nice day. This was extremely disappointing, especially given our positive experiences with other Metro Diner locations. Not sure what happened here today but we will not be returning or recommending, instead we will be reporting. read more

My husband and I have been to the Metro Diner many times. The variety of food is like most breakfast/brunch restaurants. Their food is very good, and the presentation. The restaurant has a homey, cozy feeling. Service is always on spot, friendly and attentive. Their prices are comparable to other similar restaurants. This is a down home restaurant, no frills or anything fancy, just delicious food and great courteous service. They do have a rewards club, definitely take advantage of this. I'm at Metro Diner here in Florida, and I came in on my lunch break earlier today. I'm a full-time film student, I'm also a 20-year retired Air Force member who ran one of the largest dining facilities in the USAF. So when I walk into a restaurant, I'm not just looking at the menu, I'm looking at operations, teamwork, customer flow, and how the place is actually being run. With that being said I want to thank the manager: John Schmitt, my server Dakota as well as the rest of the kitchen & serving staff. Today, Metro Diner surprised me in a major way. They were busy, and it did take a minute for my food to come out, but the team stayed on it and got it to me. That matters, because busy isn't the issue, how you handle busy is the issue. For my first order, I got shrimp and grits. I don't eat pork, so I asked them to leave the sausage out, and to make sure it wasn't cooked in with it. They respected that, no problems, no weirdness, just handled. Now the food, listen. The shrimp and grits were flat-out excellent. The shrimp were juicy, the peppers were cut right, everything was seasoned properly, and you could actually taste every ingredient. It was like a musical in your mouth, every note showed up. I went back to class and showed my classmates what I got, because it looked and tasted that good. After school I was headed for my 1 hour drive home, but I decided to doubled back to try something sweet, the Belgian waffle with cinnamon and pecans. It came out looking like a prop for a cinematic movie prop, and it was just as good as the first meal from earlier today. The kind of good where you start thinking about ordering another one immediately, but you stop yourself because you already know you'll be back tomorrow. So here's my verdict. Metro Diner just became one of my new go-too lunch spots when I am in Winter Park for class. If you're anywhere near this area and you've never been, you need to pull up and try it for yourself, don't trust my taste buds, try your own!!! I stopped by here on a weekday and this restaurant was completely packed. Line was about a 45 minute wait, but well worth it. We ordered every thing from chicken and waffles, pancakes and the chicken pot pie. Wow service was really quick and our food came out in under 10 minutes. The pie was definitely the highly of the meal. The chicken was tender and the crust was so flaky. The restaurant is very warm, inviting and a great place to take the family for a great all American meal. Highly recommend stopping by any of their locations on the East coast as they have some great quality diner specials as well. read more

I got the cheese grits and San Francisco Benedict, which is like a traditional eggs Benedict but with tomato and avocado added (delicious). The grits were absolutely perfect. I didn't have to add butter or salt/pepper like I do everywhere else. The flavor on these were on point. My husband had the steak scramble and the cinnamon roll pancakes. The bowl had an impressive amount of big bites of steak, which we were really pleasantly surprised by. We've become so accustomed to being overcharged and underserved on our protein when we go out but of course Metro would never do that to us! Even better, the cinnamon roll pancakes were fluffy, delicious (didn't even need syrup), and came with TWO! The other location does one giant pancake. We are obsessed with the value you get here. It's not cheap diner pricing, but they service higher quality and bigger portions than other places charging the same or more. I didn't love the atmosphere in this location, which is why the minus 1 star. It was a little dark and gloomy. But the staff was just as friendly as the other ones we've been to. From its humble start in a single location in Jacksonville, Florida, Metro Diner has grown into a significant culinary empire in a few short years. I have been a fan of Metro Diner for years. In fact, my first experience at Metro Diner was at the original location in Jacksonville when my daughter and I stumbled upon that location when heading back to Orlando, Florida from a trip up to my home state of New Jersey. We were both instant fans of the establishment. The Metro Diner can claim its history back to 1938, though that was when the building was built and opened as a diner. In the early 1990's, 1992 to be exact, the Metro Diner was rebranded as the Metro Diner and in 2000, the Davoli Brothers (Mark and John) purchased the Diner and their father came on board a few years later and Metro Diner began expanding throughout Jacksonville, Florida. In 2010, the Metro Diner was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and the popularity of that particular Food Network television show brought this diner its own level of popularity and with that popularity brought even more expansion. With that expansion came change. Unfortunately, one if those changes was a more streamlined menu and one of the items dropped from the menu was my favorite item at the Metro Diner. This was a pork tenderloin sandwich with bacon and lettuce. Truly a fantastic sandwich, but unfortunately, it fell to the wayside. The Metro Diner still has some fantastic options. Their burgers are pretty stellar. My daughter originally had the chicken and waffles, which is still her favorite item on the Metro Diner's menu and is still on the Metro Diner menu today. Overall, I had a great experience at this particular Metro Diner, even if I could not have that fantastic pork tenderloin sandwich. I would definitely recommend this particular Metro Diner and I give it five stars. read more

The servers always offer to make their signature sweet and spicy syrup with a little bit of sriracha and it complements the dish so well. The fried chicken benedict is also a good brunch item. These come with a side of hashbrowns. They also have featured menu items like pumpkin waffles & pancakes and pumpkin bread pudding and their flavored coffee of the day. This was the first time at this location for us and it was as good as the other locations as well. Food came out hot and as always - very generous portions. It's set up like a cafeteria not very cozy or romantic but it's very nice with large booths and tables. You can order a beer, mimosa or a Bloody Mary. I had the beef tips, although good I wasn't in love with it. The mashed potatoes were not bad and I didn't care for the green beans. The gravy was good. My hubs had the fried shrimp and they were delicious! I decided to get some bread after taking a few bites thinking it would taste good with the gravy but they didn't have rolls so I got a homemade biscuit and it was delicious.
