Jonny's was our first pick for being close to our home and the comfort of knowing the quality, price and service would be stellar. We arrived there around 11:20 and the place was jumpin'!! We found a seat immediately and were immediately greeted by their menu and taking our order for drinks. After the drinks arrived, Martina was greeting us to take our order. The food arrived quickly for the place being packed, however, the tables were turning over quickly as patrons were leaving after tanking up on their meal. This place never disappoints. Quality, stellar service (yes, I like that word), speedy service and reasonable prices. Coffee and hot water for tea are bottomless and never lets one run dry. Awesome breakfast place. The food portions were perfect and service was great. My coffee cup was never empty. Every seat was taken, which is a mark of a great restaurant. Great Diner that was super crowded on a Saturday morning for good reason. The tables are small, you're kinda crammed in there, but it has that diner "vibe" and food is good. I had the Johnny Omelet that was filled with bacon that was actually crispy, some other meats and peppers and onions. It was covered in sausage gravy and came with delicious crispy hash browns. Yum! Service was spectacular with refills of coffee and water flowing like mad into even a 3/4 empty glass. Kudos to the staff here for just killing it! Out came our food as ordered hot and tasty. Eggs were perfect hot and runny. Hash browns crispy and the bacon crispy but not too. Toast was buttered in the kitchen but they gave me some more on the side. French toast was a good portion and very good. A very good breakfast. Both of us ate for about 20 bucks. We ordered a chicken fried steak with eggs, a ham n cheese omelette, a half portion of french toast, and coffee. First off, coffee was good. The chicken fried steak was small, but justified by the price. The French toast was very generic but good. I noticed some dishes excelled while others were just OK. Today we were looking for a different place less chainy... is that a thing?... Anyway... we landed here. We sis somewhat of a late brunch and it was pretty good. We had a Gyro with fries, a Bacon egg and cheese sandwich extra crispy bacon and some cheese sticks. With a lemonade it came up at just around 33$. The food was good, Don't expect to be blown away by presentation but it works. i can see myself getting a hearty breakfast and coffee here. Service was good, we had a small problem and it was quickly resolved, I would have appreciated if management would have said something to us but the staff was so nice apologetic and quick to act that we decided there was no need to fuss. The restaurant decor feels somewhat Newly renovated old school style . I wonder how it is when its busier. Wife really enjoyed her sandwich and the Gyro was good as well. The meat was not particularly flavorful but the sauce Feta cheese and toppings were fresh and crunchy, I would probably try the chicken one next. I lived just down the street from Johnny's for like three years when I first moved to Orlando. I feel bad that I never went, or even heard of it. But lately it's been getting more press and is winning more awards in the periodicals that I read. They have some of the best breakfast in town, I love breakfast, so I came here one morning to see what was up. It's in a strip mall, so you would think there isn't much opportunity for adding personality to your exterior, but Johnny found a way. Huge Christmas window paint murals adorn the giant windows, making this exterior very fun and very festive. Eye catching. The service was legendary. You get greeted immediately with a good ol' country howdy when you enter the door. Like the ones I'm used to and miss about back home. You get a lot of huns and shugs when you're ordering and being checked on. And the server comes along to see if you need a coffee refill literally every five minutes or so. It was like being in a movie, the service. It was excellent. The menu all looked so good, it was hard to choose, but I ended up going with the Johnny Omelet (Bacon, ham, sausage, onions, green peppers and cheese topped w/sausage gravy), after getting confirmation that it was a good amount of food for guys my size. It was very good! Tons and tons of fillings, All diced very finely, so you got a little bit of everything in each bite. Just enough gravy on top, sometimes diners drown their food in gravy and take away from their meal, but this gravy was tastefully done. And the hash browns, griddled to a crispy perfection. Very nice. I also got to sample the Very Special Breakfast (2 eggs, hash browns, 2 silver dollar pancakes, 2 strips of bacon, 2 links of sausage, slice of ham toast white or wheat). Lots of little bites here, everything done well. Over medium eggs were perfect. Overall, the décor felt very homey, the service felt very familiar, and the food was solid. Mom & pop cooking with an atmosphere that's modern. We enjoyed the homemade corn beef hash (nicely toasted, personally I'd prefer a little less salt), grits, eggs & biscuit along with bacon, eggs & hash browns. Service was good attentive to water & coffee refills. Not a lot of seating but spaced out well with booths, 2 seaters and groups of four. Definitely a popular place. It's only a strip mall, but the holiday décor that was painted all over the windows, and the plethora of holiday décor decked all over the halls inside, really gave this place a jolly spirit. We were excited to try Johnny's Diner based on the reviews, their claim that the food is homecooked, etc. We went for lunch and it became clear pretty quickly that the food wasn't home cooked. It's clearly frozen, from a bag, cans, etc. We got burgers, chicken tenders, fries, onion rings, etc. and it was all clearly frozen food. It was gross, cheap, and tasteless. I'm not sure what the hype is, but we didn't finish our food and ended up hitting the Publix up next-door afterwards and grabbed food to make at home. We were absolutely starving, but we refused to finish our food. Would not recommend unless you're into frozen food. read more

My Pops and I are regulars at Johnny's. It is a family owned business and they treat everyone like family here! They remember names and orders here which makes me feel so special. The menu is expansive and full of variety, yet they get the orders out hot and quick! The price point is very reasonable as you can get full breakfast with $8.50 specials! Yesterday I had the polish sausage breakfast and everything was perfect! I don't know of a breakfast place with creamier grits which I know all my fellow southerners will appreciate! We came in at the right time we were able to sit right away. It is a seat yourself place, but it does get very busy and there are some wait times but the food was really good. Even the water tasted really good. It didn't taste like that nasty Florida water. I like how they walk around serving coffee and water. I think I drank like 3 cups of coffee but the cups are like small so it turns into one lol the home fries were very well seasoned 10 out of 10 recommend. read more

Wanting a little upgrade from a breakfast sandwich from a fast food place, we decided to stop at this diner before a day on the lake. I am so glad we did! I don't typically do chains so I appreciate that this place only had 1-2 locations. I think that the other breakfast chains in central FL are a little overpriced and just not worth the wait. Here we were able to walk up to the counter and sit down. We're served drinks immediately and had our orders in within 5 min. They are quick and extremely friendly. And their breakfast special is so worth it! They have several combos for $8.50 each and total for two people with coffee and hot chocolate we ended up paying around $24 which is unheard of for a breakfast these days! I'd been wanting to try Johnny's since they were at their previous location. We tried once, but the business happened to be closed for a family event. Not long after that, they had to move locations. We happened to be in the area of their new location and decided to come in for lunch. It was fairly busy at the time, but there were some open tables so we were seated immediately. The location looks very nice inside. Our server was efficient and friendly. My bf decided to get the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn. I opted for the basic corned beef sandwich which has Swiss on it and chose fries as a side so I could share with my bf. Service was very quick and we had our meals after a short wait. The fries that came with my sandwich were pretty good! I'm fairly picky about fries, but these tasted fresh and were crispy and seasoned well enough. My sandwich was average in my opinion. Decent amount of meat, could have used a bit more cheese in my opinion. Bread was decent and toasted. I tasted my bf's steak, mashed potatoes, and corn. The corn was basic and tasted like canned corn. The mashed potatoes were very bland if you got a bite without the gravy. The gravy was pretty good. The steak was cooked well and tender, but the breading itself also didn't have much flavor. He agreed and had asked me to taste it first before we shared opinions. Overall, I love visiting mom and pop type places. This one wasn't super memorable for me and I found it average. I wouldn't make an effort to go back, but if I was in the area or others I knew wanted to go I'd give them another try. read more

Johnny's diner is one of those restaurants that their popularity is demonstrated by how busy they are. Since I found Johnny's diner on University Boulevard, I have been there four or five times. I have never been so pleased to have found Johnny's Diner, a place that is so friendly and welcoming. Good prices, absolutely great food. And it is worth it! I will give Johnny's diner 10 stars, I don't think five is really enough. the atmosphere, the friendliness of the owners, Marguerite and her husband, the entire staff. They're just great people, they know their customers. Everyone is just great! I order something different every time so I really get an idea of the various items that they offer on their menu, for example, it's like their homemade items that they make. Marguerite makes them herself and they're great and if you want to see what I mean, you'll have to go to Johnny's Diner and try it. You will not be disappointed. The only thing that I wish is that I had an indicator when the restaurant was slow enough that I could get in quickly. Our son is a UCF student so we wanted to give a local place a try as opposed to the over hyped franchise restaurants. Ambiance is a typical local breakfast place, simple, small, nothing special, the only thing that is diner related is the small counter seating. Lots of seniors, mostly local folks and a few sheriffs so a typical crowd. Service is also average, not exceptional just service. Once the food and drinks dropped we never saw our waitress again and it wasn't busy so unsure why. As to the food, it's hit or miss depending on what you order. French toast was good. The over medium eggs on the other hand were overcooked and drenched in butter. The link sausages were good, as was the bacon. The hashbrowns were over cooked. Almost as if they were deep fried. Brown, dry and greasy. Will we come back? No. But you give it a try and see if your experience is better than ours. read more
